After I had the breakfast she brought which was just me taking wild berries, I went down the stairs and everyone treated me like I owned the place; clear path to me when I came across, some bow lightly others greet generously by referring to me as the 'lady, your lordship or highness', it was highly offbeat. I went out the inner core of the house and was the courtyard again. I went around the bust at the center and strictly followed Christina's directions. Now the dorm shaped building I was facing was the special prison the vampire prince has. I entered the dorm where two silver dressed vampires stood under the shed, I came by them and they didn't even acknowledge my intruding. After I entered it became really dim the source of light was only from the web of colorful glass over my head, I scanned the area and all around the circle shaped space were exactly the same size six arches which one made the entrance and exit door. There was no body near unless for the two guards standing by the door, clearly not interested in me or what I was looking for. I let my hands limp beside me and sighed inwardly before closing my eyes, I chased out his scent, heartbeat and the link we supposedly made somehow. I could suddenly feel the vibration from underneath me, humming in my ears just like the one I felt off him earlier and then the pull.
I opened my eyes and head towards only the arch to my left; I walked towards the arch and noticed a flight of stairs. I started walking down the stairs and towards the middle of the flight it got really dark as the stairs got spiral, towards the end of it I saw dancing yellow glow. The atmosphere was choking, heavy and had a pungent smell, I took a deep breath as I stepped to the concrete floor cell doors where lined in both side of the stone dungeon. I walked by some empty cells before reaching the first one holding two people strapped to the wall from their feet and hands both their heads tipped down looking to the dirty floors.
"Hunter?" I didn't mind to ask for the keys to unlock the prison cells but just broke it off forcefully. I darted inside and reached for Jake whom wearily looked up at me, that's when I noticed a tubing network against the wall and one of it was stuck to his arm and the other ran towards Hunter but not attached to him. I recognized the scent of the fluid that the machine pumped into the tubes running down to his arm. I pulled it out of him hastily making blood trickle out of the puncture in his arm
"How long has this been going on?" I lifted his sweat coated face, his eyes were barely opened to look at me or he barely even recognized me, my heart cringed with pain
"Gia?"
"Jake it's me,"
"You shouldn't have trusted him"
"I will get you out of here" I said quickly reaching to free his arm when he stopped me
"No, no. Help Maya first" he stated word by word breathing heavily I hesitated to leave him shackled in the basement at that state, I looked towards hunter too although he was weak but he could have his head up to look at me, he nodded in approval before I went out quickly to the holding cell of Maya's which was adjacent to Jake's. I gasped when I saw Maya slumped forward, hair falling over her features and she was barely or even totally not on her feet. I snapped the locks and rushed inside meeting a dominating stench in the air not even noticing someone was in there until I heard them roar before reaching her
"Don't you dare" his voice was so hoarse and full with animosity that I nearly didn't recognize Kai's voice
"Kai?"
"Stay away from my mate" he instructed raising his head to look at me, eyes bloodshot, dangerous and grieving. His dark hair was wet and falling to his face while every feature in his face hardened towards me. I stood in the middle of the room obstructing his view of Maya; they were positioned on opposite walls. I moved cautiously towards his raging form, fighting furiously against his restraint while he roared unstoppably. I also noticed the same networking of tube out of the pump, the more he fought against it the more fluid ran through the pipes into him but the determination and hatred embedded in his eyeball were bigger than that. So I reached my hand quickly and snatched the tube out of his arm, he growl white foaming saliva gushing out of the corner of gritted teeth
"We don't need your help!"
"I know you don't want me here but I need to help her she's not in a-" he roared very loud in his recent condition I knew that was powered purely by anger
"She is only here because of you, you will not touch her!" he plunged forward and it was the restraint that only kept him in place
"I'm sorry but I will help my friend. You are in no state to stop me" I turned a deaf ear on his refusal to help her, as soon as I was close enough to her I notice the blood pool right underneath her and she wasn't moving. My heart skipped a giant beat and I darted to unshackle her completely in less than a second. I laid her down completely observing her physical appearance. The slight tan she's achieve a week ago has disappeared in less than 48 hours, her lips were pale, her face expressionless and sieved of movements. Beyond the hair sticking on her skin I noticed the source of that blood pool, there were several puncture wounds on her neck and upper chest. My brows knitted instantly as I sweep the hair away from neck to observe further
"What happened to her?"
"Don't speak like you are unaware of your vampire friends coming down here to quench their thirst," I furiously clenched my fist as my heart rate elevated profoundly, I knew there is no amount of words I could use towards clarifying this but I went further to observe her with my gaze bubbling with tears. I held on to her wrists, I rained back focus on her vitals but there were none. I freaked out right after; Maya had no pulse at all. Tears welled in my eyes as I looked down at her face, I remembered when last I saw her before she was taken, I didn't even had the chance to apologize to her and there were a lot I wanted to tell her.
"No, you cannot just leave" I whispered to her making me sound like a lunatic before I started crying. As soon as my hand rose to muffle my cries, I remembered I am the key to free her of the clutches of death. I heard kai chuckle in a lunatic tone but everyone could tell his pain, he was clearly broken
"I will be sure to take you apart piece by piece" he roared fighting against his restraint, I ignored. I looked around quickly to find something that would have me pierce through my skin easily without using my own teeth. I grabbed a rusty sharp metal lying in the bed of hay that was in the corner of the cell, I rushed back to her body and kneel beside her head. With no hesitation I cut through my balled fist, dark red blood started to ooze out of my hand and the space between my fingers, I knew whatever that will follow after feeding my blood to Maya I had to take responsibility for it but never to let her lay dead in front of me. I positioned my bleeding hand over her lips; it dropped down on her closed lips rapidly before I used my other to part her lips after dropping enough into her mouth my palm has already healed. I supported her head up to it might pass through her throat, hopefully. I rested her head down and stood up
"You must be feeling good about yourself your majesty" kai spat yet again
"I'm sorry kai, for Maya and for everything" I said before I exit leaving him yell my name and rain curses upon me. I pinned my back in the space between the cells making sure my moaning wasn't noticed, I cried with my lips claps together. I buried my face in my palms
"It was true what they say about your kind, you bring chaos where ever you go!" he yelled before finally breaking down in tears, wailing filling the whole basement. I decided to go back to Jake again
"Ignore what kai said, he's currently in pain of losing a mate. He needs time to settle down with it" Hunter encouraged as I entered their cell. I already cleaned out my tears and moved closer to both of them
"No he's right. That is what I am"
"Gia" Jake called so I moved closer to him
"I'm sorry. Maya's not breathing anymore but I fed her my blood just now, we'll have to wait now it shouldn't take long" I stated hopefully
"Your blood? It can be,"
"Dangerous, yes I know but I cannot let her die−I can't" I declared
"It's only right to honor the dead Gianna," his voice was filled with emotions. I reached to touch his face caressing it
"I promise she will be fine, you all will" I reached my hand and pulled on the restraint thus his right hand came free before I freed his left. He stumbled forward right after, if it weren't for me there he would have hit the floor, I helped him down before freeing his feet. As soon as he was free I wrapped him in a warm hug and he hugged me back too, it felt like forever. I pushed out of the hug brushing the hair out of his face
"I will check on her first" he nodded wearingly before leaning against the wall. I reentered the cell and this time kai was silent. Nothing changed about her unless for her corpse was oddly beautiful
"This is not right" I said hunkering over her corpse, she should have woke by now it doesn't take a moment for my blood to revive a dead body
But she isn't awake!
