Bree
" Alright ladies enough chitchat, we need to prepare our queen." Her mother changed the subject about Rhys onto her. " Now what should you wear? You have to look just like a queen?" Colette questioned as she patted her chin.
The perfect one appeared in her head. " I have one in my closet. It's a bluish chiffon a-line dress." She spoke up as her Aelin and Cecil immediately searched for the dress.
" Well, what are you going to do with your hair?" Summer added as she played with her curls.
" I'm going to keep it down, but with a few braids here and there." Bree instructed as her mother began twirling her red straight locks.
Summer swaying her head back and forth, " Wait what about your crown?" She asked jumping.
" Oh don't worry the blacksmith should be done forging it about now." Colette let them know as they had no idea.
" Makeup?" Summer asked as she nodded.
" Light and natural please." She detailed as Summer grabbed the cosmetics and brushes as the soft fibers glided against her skin placing hints of makeup here and there. Bree usually never wore makeup, unless it was for an important occasion like today. Some females wore all the times, some didn't at all. But there was good to have balance. Applying the lip gloss as she saw in her reflection the blue dressed being waved around.
" Here we go!" Aelin proudly announced as her aunt pulled out another white gown.
" Oh, my goodness Bree! Where did you get this?" Her aunt exclaimed as she turned her head immediately recognized the dress. All of them gasped. Walking over as she touched the delicate rare material. Remembering as if it was yesterday she had passed by that shop window that carried it- knowing she needed to have it. The dress she had been hiding for a special day. " Seriously, where did you get it? And can I have it ?"
Bree faintly smile as she held the piece of cloth so dear she could never give it to away, " The human world back a few years ago. And no you can't have it aunt." She curtly stated.
" It's indeed beautiful." Her mother complimented. " But put it away sister, we must hurry as the sun is setting. We need to get Bree ready."
Cecil groaned as she pouted. Curtly placing it away as they helped her into the blue dress that fit as perfect as a glove. Readjusting her hair as she ran her fingers against the almost silky fabric. Having had brought it as another memory of the mortal world. It was quiet unique in design. It was a line chiffon blue dress, however it didn't fall along the way to her feet. The front fell right below her knees while the back fell to the fall, shimming perfectly. Taking one look in the mirror and she froze. Her hazel eyes staring back at her. The person in the mirror was a different person.
She was no longer the Princess of the Wolves. Jittery and unsure.Right now, she was the leader, the Queen, and the Alpha. Representing her people, the people of Redlosdls. The future generations of Queens to come. " How do I look?" She asked turning to the woman as the girls all grinning ear to ear.
" Like a queen." Her mother spoke up taking her hand into hers. Slight tears appearing in both their eyes as that was the biggest compliment Bree could ever receive.
" Thank you, mama." She said in a tender voice as she hugged her, tightly like when she was a little child afraid of everything.
" No thank you for being the best daughter I could have ever asked for." Her mother added.
" Oh my goodness, stop or by the creator. I will cry." Summer bursted out as she wiped away some mini tears as Bree opened her arms to all of them as they embraced in a group hug. The women who had inspired her the most. That she had more respect, gratitude, and love for in the world had made her into who she was.
They parted as Bree voiced, " I cannot put it words how much you guys mean to me, but all I can say is thank you."
Twinkles appeared on their eyes as they nodded. " Now, let's go." Aelin advised as they headed out walking back down the path they arrived.
Rhys
After gathering himself again, placing his ceremonial crown and his lion mane cape upon his shoulders, he headed out. With his mother, father, brother, Eren, men, and guards dressed in their best suit as he once again enter the amphitheater as the crowd roared. The sunset glowing upon the city spreading throughout the place as streams, music, and the joy vibrated.
Waving and acknowledging his people his eyes scanned for a certain someone, but no sign of the red fox. " I guess she's not here yet." He thought as he met eyes with another wolf. Or wolves. The King and his sons redressed, wrapped in bandages to cover their wounds as they stood proud, regardless of the fact a female had just beaten the seven of them. Walking forward as they face to face he bowed his head out of accustom.
" Son, your Majesty. You no longer have to do that." Lucien entailed as Rhys creased his brows, forgetting he was no longer King.
Bringing his chin up as the previous King bowed. Not accustomed to his years as the King to seeing anyone wolf bow to him. But he didn't take it as servitude but as normal custom. " Forgive me. You are right Sir Lucien." Rhys said calmly. Even after a previous King or Queen was no longer reigning they became Sir or Lady.
" No worries. My daughter- her Majesty will arrive soon enough. " He boosted grinning so wide that his canines protruded. All he could do was give a tight lipped smile and stand besides him. Minutes passed as he awaited the arrival of His Queen- Her Majesty The Queen. Shaking his leg in anticipation. Where was she? Why was she taking so long? Had she regretted her decision after seeing the true role of a leader? All questions rambling in his mind as the crowd up roared looking ahead to see Aelin, her daughter Summer, the former Queen sister Cecila, and the former Queen following close behind.
His heart clenched something reassuring she did not run away. All four ladies near him tagged with genuine content. As Lady Colette neared her husband as Rhys leaned slightly in, " Where is Bree?" He questioned seriously.
" She's here. Give her a moment." Lady Colette advised as he did nothing more but plant a kiss upon her head while a familiar sweet warm vanilla scent filled his sight as he knew the owner of it. Turning his head as the crowd gasped and cheered, seeing her. Her eyes all over the place, but his eyes were on her and only hers. The color of the dress complimented her fiery locks perfectly. Her stride was fill of will and determination as the sweet beauty of her face held as it always did. Though it was more than her looks, and her attitude that called him. But something deep within her changed, no longer the reckless princess, although he doubted her personality changed.
She was now fit to be Queen.
Bree
Halting at the entrance of the amphitheater the cheers, the melodies that played in the air, the joyous atmosphere all as a result of what had just occurred in the previous hours. She wanted to barge in just like she had before the fight, but something in her couldn't find the spirit to.
" Is something wrong?" Aelin tilted her head as Bree shook hers.
" No. Go on ahead. I just need a minute." Bree alleged.
Summer and Celin giving her the are you sure look as she verified as the three of them headed in. Bree staring at the ground, composing herself as she felt a hand on her shoulder looking up to see the same red locks she inherited after. " Nervous, huh?" Her mother pointed out as she sighed.
" That obvious?" She remarked crossing her arms.
" It's alright. It's normal to feel like that. I remember my first time, I was basically a walking mess." She confessed as Bree let out a small chuckle. " Seriously, if you're father wasn't there, I don't know what I would have done. But you are not alone. You have us. It's not going to be easy, but not impossible. You just proved that to everyone." Colette alleged as Bree eyes didn't meet hers. " I'll head inside first, but don't forget everyone waiting for you." She walked inside leaving Bree alone and uncertain.
She breathed in and out, attempting to settle the unwavering nerves of her heart. The pounding of her heart in her ears, her throat tightening and closing. She didn't know why she was nervous. The worst part was over. But this was just the beginning, the beginning of her no longer taking responsibility for herself, but an a kingdom. Not that she couldn't just they're would be much opposition from her people. However, wasn't that the reason she did this in the first place? To change the way wolves thought about females? For the females to grow out there patriarchy roles and think for themselves. To be the change for the future generations of women. " Of, course Bree. This was the reason. Don't back away now. Don't be scared. You are not alone." She repeated the words of her mother.
Even if her people would object, she would not be alone. She never was. Finally slipping out of the place of doubt her feet moved forward with confidence and pride. The dusking sun tainting the view, as it made the entire scenery glow like a beautiful dream. Noticing her name being called out as all eyes were now on her.
Queen Bree!
Queen Bree!!
Queen Bree !!!
The people repeated more and more louder as a smile crept upon her face as she returned it with a wave of her head. Her eyes scanning the crowd some people carried brightened faces, while others mainly male wolves, and female wolves with scowls and fury in their eyes. Even though they did so, she would not let it disturb her for today. Focusing else where as the decorations had changed, filled to the brim with all things celebratory, the music as festive as life, and these people being her witness. Until she met face to face with those who would stand by her.
" Are you ready, my queen?" They called out.
" I am." She asserted as they commenced the ceremony.
