Chapter 13 - Celebration

Rhys

Admiring her pinkish cheeks, she always seemed to turn that color around him. But it wasn't for nothing sensing nervousness and a bit of he couldn't believe it attraction as she rockily starred her first speech slowly gaining confidence her words becoming more convincing, her voice strong, unwavering, capturing the attention of her people. Like a capable leader should. Her lips stopped moving as a moment of silence passed as the assembly broke out. Breathing a sigh of relief as she turned to her family members leaving them be.

Now he was watching from his throne, rubbing his chin, his eyes narrowed stapled on Bree as she danced with her best friend Summer swaying her hips side to side. Her body flowing with the music become one with it. It was very well known that Bree was one of the best dancers in Redlosdls, moving her hips, and body so naturally. Calling out to any male. It was a bit hard for him to contain himself, when he would see that. So many males looking at her, he wanted to hide that away for himself. But at the same time proud wanting to show herself off like a cocky she-wolf. Admittedly Rhys was bit turned on. Although, a bit thankful that she was wearing a heavier fabric so no one could see so obviously, but wishing to see those curvaceous hips of hers soon.

" Hello, Rhys." A breathy light voice called his attention, gazing out of the corner of his eye to see bold blonde. Her breast on display as she was just covered by a sheer short skirt. One he already been intimate with, up to three years ago. He was sure if he wasn't going to marry Bree, he would have her. That was until he caught her with another male brazenly in the act. He broke off whatever they had, but she would always come back like a leech.

" Hello, Scarlet." He forcibly greeted as he turned his eyes away.

She placed a hand on his arm as the inner lion wanted to let out a growl as he the upper corner of his lips lifted menacingly as she retracted, " Come on, Rhys you don't have to be so formal. We know each other better than most." She shameless stated, giggling afterwards.

He didn't hate Scarlet, she was one of his loves. He believed, giving her everything as she frolic away in secrecy with other men. But still he couldn't bring himself to hate her, just not wanting her to be in the same vicinity as himself. " What do you want, Scarlet?" He bluntly asked looking everywhere but her.

" Well I was wondering if we could dance?" She inquired.

He slightly clicked his teeth, the smell of other men on her, made it repulsive that she would still offer herself to him. " I'm sorry Scarlet unfortunately I cannot." He turned down wanting her to get the message.

" Oh come on." She pressed dangling her fingers across his skin, aggravating the lion inside of him. Stop, he wanted to call out when another voice spoke up.

" Hey, Scar! If Rhys won't dance I'll will!" Leo thankfully interefered as he grabbed her hand pulling her away as the last thing Rhys heard her said was wait. " Reminder thank Leo, later." He made a mental note as he noticed the music quiet down as the crowd groaned and awed.

His eyes immediately finding Bree, her ivory skin - appearing more light gold due to the lanterns as it glistened from the activity as she crossed her arms pouting like when she was a child. A smile crept on his face just thinking about the change. Suddenly, his name was being called out. But not just his only it was also Bree.

" King Rhys!"

" Queen Bree!"

" King Rhys!"

" Queen Bree!" They chanted.

" I think the people are suggesting you two majesties should dance together." Summer called out, a bit difficult to hear from over the crowd but his lion ears caught on as Bree's eyes widened saying what. Throwing her hand up as the crowd quieted, " If that what the people are saying. Do you want your Queen and King to have a dance?!" She cockily enticed as they crowd roared all chanting yes.

Stepping from the dark night, the golden dress differentiating her from it, " Yes his Majesty the Lion King, and her Majesty the Alpha Queen shall dance together." Aelin affirmed as both of them stared at one another. It was like the supreme creator was on his side, although his lion family might not wanted to, he definitely did.

" Alright." Rhys agreed watching Bree open her mouth to say otherwise but she just gave a meek okay. Rising from his seat feeling all animal eyes on him, gawking at him moving closer and closer to her Majesty. His swift feet taking him right to her. Looking down at her small self, compared to him. Softly wrapping his arms around her tiny waist, carefully enough so he wouldn't crash her the warmth radiating from her body. He had never been so close to her like this.Well, only once, but that was a memory long ago as she attempted to reach his neck.

" Do you have to be so tall?" She remarked, standing on her tippy toes.

" Do you have to be so short?" He retorted back, as she gave a tight lipped smile admitting equality. The music restarting, the drums beating resonating, flutes singing and other instruments playing, although not as the same tempo from before much slower, and intimate per se. As they danced to the melody of the song as his feet assertive, proficient in his stride however her feet bumped into his, sometimes stepping on it, other times it was missteping all together. " You don't know how to dance?" He surprisingly questioned, arching his brow as she bit her lip giving away her answer. What? Impossible, the way she moved proved otherwise, " But, you're the best dancer in Redloslds."

" I know." She took the compliment as she explained, " I know how to dance it's just....I've never danced with a guy.... I always dance solo.... never with a male." She swayed her lips side to side, admittedly embarrassed she had never done that with a male. Never in his mind had that occurred to him. She was friendly, having an abundance of opportunity to do so. But, yet again with an overprotective alpha king father he understood maybe why.

If she never knew, or experienced, he would show her, slightly lifting her off the ground with his arms, as she let out a tiny gasp as he planted her feet on his, blinking realizing what he had done, " Let me lead." He advised as she slowly nodded.

" Thanks, Rhys." She whispered lowly, but high enough he could hear it.

" No problem." Rhys began as he glanced back down at her, her cheeks once again blush, even in the lack of light, his night vision caught it, " You're actually pretty cute, when you do that." He whispered into her ear as he could hear her heart beat accelerating, pulling away with a wide grin on his face as her mouth fell ajar.

Lucky strike.

Fluttering her lashes realizing her slip up, "I'll show you how cute I can be." She proposed as she turned her back on him, swaying her hips closer. A bit agitated from continuous dancing he could smell her natural pheromones. Like the most intoxicating drink, something between cherries and warm cinnamon. It was all he could breath. " Damn, I could drown myself within her. " He thought as he held her close. Though the fabric interfered with feeling her fully, her could feel her ass brush pass his member, a slightly deep groaned he let out from his throat. Wanting to feel that again as they maintain the position again.

Tilted her head back just enough to see his face as a smirk appeared, " You should see the look on you're face Rhys. I wonder which of us is cuter?" She teased as she rubbed against him.

Shit. He felt like he was losing control, the animal inside him wanted more, but he couldn't, he couldn't loose control. Not here. Not now. Sliding his hand down her arm to interlace their hands as he twirled her around, " I said I was leading." He said in husky voice, tilting her chin up to met his eyes. A secret moment shared between the two, as he gazed into those hazel eyes, mostly a lighter brown that consisted of green- gold specks shining like diamonds. The only thing that existed in the here and now as everything and everyone ceased to exist shutting away. Solely, a piece of time where he existed, she existed, and the tune lingered in the air. Holding each other closely. Seconds seeming like an eternity.

Eventually the music dying down as faint smiles appeared on both their lips, somewhat parting as his eyes lingered on hers, and hers on his as a voice pierced the air. " So what did I miss?"

Whipping her head as Bree let go of his hands, running into the arms of another, leaving him abandoned as she squealed, " Theo!"
