As the melodies of the music flowed, the beat of the drums matching that of her heart, Rhys and her swayed their bodies in union. When he told her that backhand comment of being cute, she kinda liked it, but she didn't want him to know that. She was now a woman she wanted to be considered beautiful or sexy. To be honest though it surprised her when he did say that, she didn't even think Rhys would lay an eye of her, but now that she had his attention she wanted to make sure she would leave an impression. Swiftly turning her backside to face him, she intentionally moved her hips just like how she was taught by her mother and females if she ever wanted to seduce a male. Brushing against him, as he wrapped his arm around her waist pulling her closer. Wishing she had worn her normal clothes or something lighter to feel against him fully. However, a hand slithered it's way to hers abruptly ending her ecstasy as she was once again face to face- well face to chest with Rhys. Sighing in disappointment as he took his hand, so warm and domineering as he tilted her chin to met his glowing gaze. The music slowing down as a soft smile appeared on his lips, something she had seen before but never directed at her as it drew once of her own. Even if it was just because of the celebration and the atmosphere,she would choose to believe it was because of her.
" So what did I miss?" A familiar smooth calming voice broke through the silence. Wait, a minute. She knew that voice. She knew the person it belonged to. But could it be possible? Wasn't he in the mortal realm? Peering her head out of Rhys view as her eyes lay on the dirty blonde, whose hair was originally cut short now covering his ears, the friendly emerald eyes staring back. As she unwrapped herself from Rhys grip and ran to the wolf. " Theo!" She blurted as he opened his arms catching her lifting her up and spinning her around as laughter echoed from his chest.
" Oh, Bree, it's nice to see you missed me." Theo said in wrapping his arms tighter around her as she felt his strength increased. Woah, that was different. Was he that strong before? He set her down as he ran his thumb across her cheek. Just like they had always been since they were pups. Even though they were in the night scenery for some reason she could tell he had grown taller, stronger, more handsome. Wait, why was she checking out her best friend?
Shaking her head, as she slapped his arm, " What are you doing here, Theo? I thought you would be gone for another couple of months?" She inquired as she crossed her arms, wondering why he would be here so soon.
A silly smile- his silly smile that didn't disappear - thankfully that didn't change she noted. As she felt a gush of wind pass her as all her brothers, Summer, Aelin, Cecila, her mother and father, his parents, and a couple other wolves who embraced him in a bear hug and toppled him with questions as she chuckled at the scene unfolding in front of her as he eventually asked everyone to give him a moment as he turned his gaze on her, " Well to answer your question, there was nothing left for me to do in the human world, and I missed my home. But seriously what did I missed that there's a big celebration? And why are you wearing the fancy crown?" He said in a curious tone giving a funny brow as the surrounding didn't know where to start.
" Well...." She trailed off as her father placed a hand on his shoulder trying to him as he bowed, shaking his head.
" Son, you no longer have to do that." Lucien made known as he blinked, knowing exactly what he thought? How could he not? He was the Alpha King and he was a member of the wolf clan.
" But my king-"
" Son, I am no longer king." Her father confessed as his eyes widened, a mix of worry and surprise fell upon his eyes. Looking at my brothers and the others for some explanation, some idea of how? She bit her lip to prevent herself from laughing before revealing why. But he was only met with her father's smiling grin.
" How, my king- I mean Sir. Who is our new leader?" He uttered. " Who could have possibility beaten you?" Slightly offended by her friend's comment but she knew he meant no ill as she let it slide, only this once and her father tilted his head signal towards her as he furrowed his brow still not getting the message.
" Son, you are still ever clueless. But the woman you just held in your arms, the daughter that I bared." Lucien hinted as his eyes snapped from him onto Bree who carried a smug face. His mouth fell open. His eyes saying you, you.
" You?!" He said in disbelief.
" Son, now you must call her your majesty. She is your queen now. Your leader. Our leader." Lucien reinforced as the surround wolves broke out in convulsion the look of his face was price. Oh that was Theo, always having lack of control over his facial emotions. Always looking like a fascinated child. Or a lost one.
He swallowed taking his time to formal greet her, his eyes not meeting hers, " Your Majesty." He bowed his head as a smile crept upon her face. It was weird having her best friend do that, but he would just have to follow the customs just like everyone else.
" Surprise, huh?" She cockily inferred as he scratched the back on his head. His way of saying of course.
" How? When? Where? What?" He babbled on. Alaric and Damian nudged him in the ribs as he slightly flinched, peering up to her bodyguard brothers, " Dude, don't you see how messed up we look like." They said in conjunction as his eyes wandered off to they first male.
" She broke my nose." Jackson started pointing the visible bandage lined on the cartilage of his nasal cavity.
" She clawed my face, almost my eyelids." Zirc entailed.
" Thrashed me until I passed out." Kai chimed in, holding an ice pack to his face as he was just pure black and blue, appearing similarly to a leopard.
" And she gave me this nasty scars." Lucien added.
" You guys!" She called out flabbergasted as they turned they attention all raising their brow. " Stop, you make it sound like I was try to kill you." She pointed out as they rolled their eyes, seriously it wasn't something to brag about. Yes, she had beaten up her brothers badly, and almost kill her father. But it wasn't something she was proud of. So why were they?
