Bree
The people repeated more and more louder as a smile crept upon her face as she returned it with a wave of her head. Her eyes scanning the crowd some people carried brightened faces, while others mainly male wolves, and female wolves with scowls and fury in their eyes. Even though they did so, she would not let it disturb her for today. Focusing else where as the decorations had changed, filled to the brim with all things celebratory, the music as festive as life, and these people being her witness. Until she met face to face with those who would stand by her.
" Are you ready, my queen?" They called out.
" I am." She asserted, standing tall and proud as they commenced the ceremony. The council members stepped forward, each adorn with an emerald gold embroidered collar, six members splitting on each side. Each representing the balance and peace between both rulers, now and for generations to come. One of the members carefully passed on a golden brown leather covered tome, a bit worn, ancient, embossed with leaves, trees, and an animal in the middle but consisting the rites and vows that every king, queen, ruler shall take on their coronation day onto Aelin.
Coin dentally, Aelin was part of the twelve, the book landed in her dark palms, unlocking the locket, her lips turning upward bringing her hand up as the room silenced. " Today, we are here to witness the coronation of the first ever Alpha Queen. Proving her strength against all six Princes of Wolves, as well as challenging and winning against his former majesty Sir Lucien." Aelin announced in a refined, elegant voice as the words that had slipped out her mouth seemed surreal, everything she had just said true, but felt like an awfully good dream, "This day will go on in Redloslds, The Golden Field's history as the day the first ever female conquered the throne. Only not by her strength, but her perseverance, tenacity, exceptional will, and fearless heart that this was made possible. Hopefully, inspiring many others to do the same." She added those last words as Bree swallowed not sure if it would inspire good or an upheaval. Her eyes casting away as she was met with the same brown eyes of a certain lion king that seemed to feed her reassurance as he gave a slight nod.
Her heart skipped a beat as she broke contact, this was not the time for that, and back onto her godmother. " Now your Majesty Bree do you take this Oath?" Aelin quoted.
" I am willing." Bree replied as Aelin passed the book to her father.
Her father gazed at her with a bitter sweet smile, " As successor to the throne of wolves, I Lucien predecessor of this liege am witness to this monumental event as is every citizen in Redloslds. Now, your Majesty Bree do you solemn swear to up hold you duty to protect, govern, serve your people? " Her father repeated the ceremonial oath.
" I solemnly do, or so help me Supreme Creator." Bree stated with firmness, her word being her promise. To her people. To her kingdom. To herself.
Her father passed the book onto Rhys as he looked down at her meet her gaze with somewhat honor if she could call it that, as he cleared his throat, " As current King of Lions, I Rhysand am also witness to this event. Does your Majesty Bree." He paused momentarily like the name rolled off his tongue, "Solemn swear to govern our people alongside myself with peace, harmony, and putting forth there the good of the people before your own?"He spoke with voice of authority, and giving her a funny brow moment as a smile slipped on her face.
Nodding, " I solemnly do, your Majesty. Or so help me Supreme Creator." She added as Rhys closed the book handing it back to other council member.
"Then bless it be." Rhys expressed as he lifted his hand, gesturing his index figure to another female whom brought forward her crown on a little red pillow. Removing it, lifting it from the female's hand showing the people of the amphitheater as he leaned over to her father, " Will you help me do the honor, Sir Lucien?" He freely asked as her father's eyes lit up, not wasting the opportunity of once in a lifetime.
" I would love to, your Majesty." He agreed placing his grip on one side of the crown as Rhys held the other. It was weird seen both her father, and the man she loved- hated sharing a nice moment, wondering if it was possibility if they would get married. Taking herself out the thought as the signal her to knee as she got down on her knees. Breathing in and out, her nerves accelerated like a wolf on a hunt, " From this day forward the people shall recognize you as their one and only Queen, her Majesty Queen Bree." They proudly declared in conjunction placing the crown on her head. Something in her soul snapping into place. The crowd enrapturing into laughter, tears, yelling, and clapping.
And just like that she was queen.
Letting out a breathe she didn't have, the whole situation seemed to wash down. It was done. There was no one that could take this from her. Wanting to go back to her home and cry, but she held a Cheshire cat smile relishing. Soon the silky smooth sensation fell over her shoulders as she turned her head, her father placing his wolf coat onto her. A family heirloom. "Dad?" She breathed as he sent a wink.
" It's yours now." He calmly affirmed as she ran her small fingers through the prestigious grey fur, although it wasn't her first time. Stealing and rubbing herself against it as a baby, it wasn't hers. Wanting to say something as she open her mouth a hand extended appeared in front of her, not expecting the receiver of this hand as she looked up to the same chocolate eyes that held something she didn't know.
" My Queen." His voice sounded so tender and assertive as she looked down back to his hand, every inch of her soul wanted to reject him, but she didn't listen to that little voice, instead taking a leap of faith reaching her hand meeting his. The warm calloused sensation of his hand against her. Felt reassuring. Safe.Lifting her to standing position next to him, slightly turning to face her people. Her rightful place.
He lifted his hand quieting everyone, " Now, her Majesty has something to say."
Damn him. Just when she thought he was being nice, he had to go put pressure on her. Standing on her tiptoes to let only him hear, " I don't know what to say." She nervously confessed not exactly planning a speech for today as she only thought of winning.
A lazy smile appeared across his lips as he leaned in, his hot breathe against her ear, too close making her blush as he whispered, " It's alright, just speak from your heart."
She sighed not knowing what to say, but just following his advice, " Hello, everyone." She shakily began. " Today marks a new day, a day of change. The day I became Redloslds first ever female ruler. Although, unexpected and unplanned, I can assure you I will lead you, my people with your best interest in mind. Along with his Majesty." She paused glancing at Rhys and back to her people, " Let go of some old traditions, and embracing new ones. Redloslds will never been the same, only better. Now let's celebrate." She ended, as the room remained empty almost thinking she said something wrong too soon, until her people cheered echoed throughout. The drums picking up. Her shoulders drooping down as she turned to her parents whom embraced her fiercely.
Shaking her like a doll, insides moving all over, not exactly healed from fighting, " Oh my goodness, that was a good speech, my dear." Her mother spoke first her father following, " That is just how a leader, a queen acts."
Letting go as she spoke, " I can't believe your this happy dad. I kinda thought you wouldn't show you face again."
Lucien rolled his eyes, alleging " Oh please, I'm not that prideful. Besides, your my dearest daughter, my little one. I'm proud you beat me."
" Ouch, dad you could have at least lied. You know, we're still your sons." Kai spoke up as they approached grinning.
" Yeah like a bit of discretion." Alaric added as the boys nodded.
" Sorry, boys. But your sister did beat me, and it's her day. You have to at least give her that." He advised as they all groaned, a bit pity from what had occured.
" Hey, you guys. I'm right here." Bree pointed out.
" Oh, yes your majesty." They joked as she gave a dismissive hand. Walking over her second eldest brother Jackson placed a hand on her shoulder, as she looked at his bandaged nose, bruised face, and suture stomach, her stomach dropping from her beastly actions.
" Jackson, I hope there's no hard feelings."
" Not at all, Bree. I still adore you as my little sister. I could never hate you." He assured squeezing her hand.
While another hand found it's way around her shoulder, turning to see a younger looking version of Aelin, but with fairer skin like hers, " Hey Jackson. Hope Bree, didn't beat that pretty face of yours too bad." Summer playfully hoped as he shook his head, red spread across his cheeks.Although they couldn't sense it, she could definitely see attraction between her best friend and brother. But that wasn't exactly a main priority of hers now. " Good. And Bree, let's dance to celebrate." She suggested as her perked my brow.
" Can I do this as Queen?" She questioned, not knowing if dance was appropriate in front of her people. It wouldn't exactly give a good impression.
" Of course." Her mother agreed.
Bree scratched her head unknowing this had to be against some rule, " But it's there rules on how a queen should act?" She further pressed as Summer tapped her foot.
" You're the Queen, now. You make the rules." Her father pointed out as Summer grinned ear to ear, pulling her hand onto the full field.
" Yes, now let's go! Hey, you play something worthy of a queen!"
