Chapter 23 - Family Time (Small Talk)...5

As her mother left the both of them, she walked over to the spot that was left empty by her Mother, thereby, filling it.

As she crossed her arms over her chest, she smiled as she watched her Mother sashaying.

Then something popped into her mind.

Slightly turning her head in the direction of her Father.

Looking from the corner of her eye, Temi could see her Father's desire and passion burn right through him. And any minute now, he's gonna deal with her for ruining his moment and opportunity.

And she was just right, because, no sooner had she turned her head, that her Dad addressed her.

Grunting a little, Mr Smith murmured;

"Why did you have to ruin it?" But his tone of voice was literally in a soft but aggressive tone.

"Huh?" Temi pretended to not have heard what her Dad had said.

"What?" Her Dad asked back.

"Oh?" Temi said.

"I thought you said something...!" Temi said with a broad smile.

Her Father looked at her.

Her voice contained a sense of excitement in it, so her Father turned his head to look at her.

When he saw her smiling face, he couldn't help but shake his head as he sighed and headed for one of the chairs.

Laughing, Temi asked;

"Daddy, what's up...?"

She also followed her Father as she also headed for the set of chairs arranged for use.

"You know exactly what's up, what's the need for asking anyways?" Her Father asked disappointedly as he plumped down onto one of the chairs as he faced his incoming daughter.

Temi giggled.

"Did I ruin the moment...?"

She asked.

"Big time!" Her Father replied.

Temi laughed.

"So you were in the 'Spirit', right?" Temi asked.

Mr Smith looked at his daughter, causing Temi to giggle.

"I guess, I was right!"

And with that, his let out a small laugh, welcoming her Father too.

Stretching out his hand, Mr Smith, gestured for his daughter, to have her seat on one of the sofas.

Walking towards one of the sofas, Temi plumped onto it.

Adjusting herself properly, she sighed as she raised her head up to look at her Father, who, was still looking at her.

"Pops, you Okay?" Temi asked.

"Hm...!" Her Father responded.

"Are you...sure?" She asked slowly as she continued to look at her Father.

Her Father nodded.

Temi went silent for a moment.

Then getting up, Temi tip-toed to her Father's side, Mr Smith watched his daughter.

Plumping onto the chair beside him, she smiled mischievously.

Her Father watched her cautiously with furrowed brows as he asked;

"Why you smilin' like that?"

"You haven't finished the story yet!" Was the reply Temi gave to her Father, causing him to hiss and look away, and then also causing Temi to giggle.

"So that's why you had to put on a show of tip-toeing over here, and sitting by my side like as if you were some kind of 'Harley Quinn' or somethin'!" Her Father exclaimed.

Temi chuckled.

"You know Pops, if you wanna get somethin' from your Pops, you gotta act like the robbs...get it?" Temi asked as she pointed at her Dad and smiled.

Her Father only looked at her with an eyebrow raised, with that questioning look in his eyes.

"C'mon Dad, c'mon, say you get it, c'mon, say you get it...!" Temi silently urged, as if someone was watching them.

Her Father only continued to look on, only when she persisted, did he slowly then say;

"Nah, I ain't gon' say that...!"

He said as he shook his head.

"C'mon, c'mon Pops, c'mon...!" Temi said as she tugged at her Father's sleeve.

Shaking his head in a negation as he continued saying;

"Nah, I ain't gon' say it...I ain't gon' say anything...!"

"C'MON!!!" Temi screamed.

Her Father, frightened by her scream, looked at her with shocked wide eyes.

"What was that for?" He asked.

"You 'DO NOT' know what you've done to me!" Temi screeched.

Looking very keenly at his daughter with slightly narrowed eyes, Mr Smith asked;

"What have I done?"

Pouting, Temi couldn't help but playfully glare at her Father without saying anything.

Her Father chuckled.

"What have I done?" He repeated.

That was when they heard giggles and laughter coming from behind them.

When they both turned, they found that the three younger boys were all hidding behind a pillar and had been watching them since.

"How long have you boys been there?" Their Father asked.

There was silence.

"How long have you boys been there?" Mr Smith repeated.

He didn't ask them in an angry tone, nor in the usual commanding tone, but something about how he asked them had them shut their mouths and stood there like statues.

"It seems some people have gone deaf these days!" Temi said.

" 'If' you know what I mean...!" She added, obviously referring to some people behind them.

"Me too?" A tiny voice asked.

Turning to look back at them, she saw that Bryan was also there.

Feeling her heart break as she had deliberately said that to hurt the boys, she didn't know that her little brother would also be there.

Getting up from the sofa, Temi walked over to where they were and scooped little Bryan into her arms, as she gently patted his back.

"Did you mean what you said earlier...?" Little Bryan asked.

"Why did you have to follow them?" Temi asked disappointedly as she say down on the sofa beside her Father.

"They said they knew where you were headed, so I decided to follow them!" Little Bryan said.

"And look at where it got you!" Temi said.

"At least I saw you...!" Little Bryan said.

"You see me everyday, what are you now scared of?" Temi gently furrowed her eyebrows as she looked down at Bryan and asked.

Although she knew the answer, she wanted to know if she also had another little genius that would begin to challenge and compete with her when it comes to brain reasoning stuffs.

And surprisingly not surprising, she got the answer immediately.

"You'd be leaving for college soon...!" Bryan said.

"So I wanna spend as much time with you before you're gone, in case you don't see us ever again!" Bryan said.

Temi frowned.

"What do you mean, 'in case I don't see you guy's again?' " She asked.

"You guys are my family...Of course I'll still see you guys again!"

"Besides...!" She added.

"There'd always be time for vacation, summer breaks nd stuff...!" Temi said.

Bryan looked up at her with tears in his eyes.

Feeling her heart break, Temi hugged her brother for a long time as she said;

"Don't worry Bryan, I'll always be here with you!"

Releasing her brother from her arms, she said;

"Even though I'll not he here physically...!"

As she said that, Bryan began to cry.

"No, no, no, no, no...!" Temi said as she tried to calm her brother down, gently shushing him in the process.

"What I meant is...!" She said gently.

"Even if I'm not with you as I am now, I'll always be with you in here...!" She said as she pointed her finger at his heart.

"I'll always be with you up here too!" She said again as she pointed at up at the side of his head.

"Really?" Bryan asked as he sniffed back his tears.

Temi nodded.
