Even though his attack was 10 including the +3 from the dagger itself, he did not do any damage. That was because of the [Physical damage immunity] that all slimes had. Naturally, that was if the attacker did not target the core floating in its body.
Axel knew this, but he still continued to slash at the body of the slime, with no effect.

During this time, the slime had naturally exited the stunned state which only lasted for a second, but its attacks were equally as useless to Axel. Axel just numbly dodged the sluggish body slams of the slime, which was the only attack it could do, and avoided received a single point of damage. He had also not dealt any damage to the slime.
After 20 minutes, his dagger finally reached 1 durability, And Axel decided to finish off the fight. He casually dodged another body-slam, before stabbing the dagger straight into the core of the slime.

It was a critical strike, dealing an additional 5 damage, instantly killing the slime. In the process, his dagger also broke down into materials.
[System: You have killed Slime β Lv 1 Variant]
[System: You have gained 10 exp. + 100% exp for 1 level difference.]
[System: You are the first to kill Vain Grasslands Lv 0 map boss: Slime β Lv 1 Variant. You have gained 5 Fame in city Vain]
Axel picked up the materials of his dagger that were on the ground and the loot dropped by the variant slime, and then quickly made his way back to Vain.
While on the way back, he checked out the loot he had gotten from the slime and was quite satisfied.
[5 copper]
[Lv 1 variant slime core shard x 1]
He would need to collect 9 more Slime core shards to form a full Slime core, but that was not the reason he was wasting his time on a level 1 slime. It took less than 10 minutes to return to Vain's city gates, and another few minute to enter it and find the beginner blacksmith; Talon's forge.
Spending 2 copper and the materials that had fallen down when his dagger broke, Axel had Talon reforge a brand-new Bronze dagger, with no change in stats.
After that, he quickly left and spent 10 minutes to reach the location of the Variant Level 1 slime, and began hitting it again for no damage. The Variant Slime took around 30 minutes to respawn, and this gave him enough time to conduct all these activities without actually wasting any time, and also save on a tonne of money he would have had to spend on buying multiple daggers.
After repeating this a total of 10 times, he finally received the notification he had been wanting to receive for all these hours.
[System: You have gained the title: Persistent Youngling, for striking the Lv 1 Slim Variant 20,000 without dealing any damage]
[System: You have gained 20 Fame in Vain]
[You have gained the passive skill: Beginner Physical Damage Immunity (Reduces all physical damage by 100%)]
This was a skill that was initially put up as an eater-egg, but after a player discovered it, he tried his best to hide where he got the skill from. Only after someone bribed, did he open his mouth and reveal to the world the method to get it. Instantly, there was a wave of people rushing to kill the Lv 1 Variant, however, after the first 2 players, the rest of the people stopped getting the skill, only gaining the title and fame. The developers, or moderators must have intervened, or the skill was designed to me limited in number.
No matter the case, this was an extremely useful skill, not to mention it was a passive skill! Unlike active skills, passive ones did not have a limit. You could get as many as you could, and they would all apply, while you could only have a maximum of 10 active skills excluding the profession skills.
Now that he had accomplished his task for the day, he bent down and picked up the loot, pleasantly surprised to find a book within it. After inspecting it, he could only figure out that it was a skill book. As for which skill and which profession it was for, he could only get it checked out by a professional at the city.
On his way back to the city, Axel checked his inventory.
[1 silver 35 copper]
[Lv 1 Variant Slime core shards x 11]
[Lv 1 Variant Slime Sac x 4]
[Unknown Skill book x 1]
He had even tried to collect the Hum herbs along the way, however, despite knowing what they looked like and spotting a few of them along the way, he failed to collect even a single one of them since he did not have any gathering skills.
With this loot, he entered Vain, hoping to get the book checked out and make use of the materials. However, a countdown suddenly appeared in front of his face.
