Chapter 16 - A Talk in the Mirror

///Inside the mirror///

Yuria felt like she was in the water. All around her were mirrors depicting every moment in the past. Some were even memories of the past that she couldn't remember. She immediately swam towards the place she wanted and entered the mirror. She felt a strong pull. When she opened her eyes, in front of her was her was her mother sitting and drinking tea. In front of her was the coffee. She took a sip and felt it was hot.

Some would say that Yuria and her mother were carbon copies of one another. But those who truly knew the two would compare each as two different spectrum of beauty. While Yuria could be called a wild, untamed beauty, her mother was described as a erudite beauty that closely resembled a goddess. Those who worked at the shrines would also commend Yuria's mother. They sometimes would say, that if Amaterasu had a human body, her mother would definitely fit that description.

Looking at her mother, she felt a sense of longing. Her mother died a long time ago when she was young under suspicious circumstances. This the reason why she became a police. But when she checked the records just to see many thing altered; in fact her cause of death was labeled as suicide from overdose which was unlikely. She felt there was more to this that it should be.

When she heard the rumor about the cafe that can bring you back in time, her mind immediately went to her mother's case. Weirdly though she was brought here.

Her mother stared at her with loving eyes. "It seems you really came. I know this may sound bad but do not attempt to investigate further of my death." she said with a serious look.

Yuria was dumbfounded. "But why?" she asked.

"Some things are better not known to you yet. You are not ready. I already told your father about this and he also agreed. My little child, your fate is far more precious and dangerous than it should be. I thought I could hide you from the responsibility but as soon as you turned 10 you started to show your abilities. Thus, to keep you safe, I had to leave. Don't worry I'm not yet dead, in reality, I am far from dead as you may see."

"Don't worry mother, I'm ready now. So won't you come back home?" Yuria was teary-eyed from her mother's words. In the end, all her mother thought about was her was her safety. She couldn't even find the words to blame her.

"Not yet. You are not yet ready. But if you want to know more, visit the old shrine we used to go to when you were a kid. I left something for you there that you could only get if you came here." Her mother smiled and patted her head.

"But..."

"Now now... Drink your coffee. It will turn cold."

Yuria followed meekly and drank the coffee finishing it within seconds. Yuria looked sadly at her mother.

"Don't be sad, like I said I'm not yet dead. There will come a time when we will meet." Her mother hugged Yuria. After hugging, Yuria looked back and nodded. Yuria felt comforted at least by the fact that she was alive.

"I promise to get ready as soon as possible so I can meet you." Now Yuria finally found something to look forward to.

"Finally, I would like to remind you of a few things. When you get that "thing", do not trust anyone who calls themselves the Emperor and the Imperial Army. Your father will explain it further. Also, do not rush, take it slowly. Rushing will only make your foundation weaker and die earlier. Lastly, I hope that when we meet again you would introduce me to your boyfriend okay." her mother smiled and looked at Yuria one last time.

Yuria was about to complain about the last statement when she awoke from everything...

"She has finally grown. My daughter has finally grown... I hope to one day meet you along with that wizard friend of her's. Anyways, I think I have sat down too long, it's time to prepare."

Taking out an emblem, she raised it into the sky. "Hear my command!" she shouted. Like a flare it shots up into the sky.

A spark of light filled the air. Soon various sparks from different areas began to fill the air and different sorts of creatures and beings assembled in front of her. One could notice the different powerful auras they possess. If Tezariah was there, he would immediately sweat, as each of these creatures were legendary and dangerous at their own right.

"Is it time my empress?" a bipedal tiger wearing an armor said. The different creatures looked at her solemnly waiting for her response. The woman nodded.

Everyone's eyes turned vicious as they immediately dispersed. The few that remained immediately exited though the corridors. The sound of a horn soon resounded. She looked a far thinking of something. A murderous flash appeared and disappeared almost immediately. A crimson flame appeared in her hand which she immediately dispersed.

"This time... If they dare touch her, I won't hold back. If they hurt her I will burn them out of existence." She immediately returned back to preparing tea. Soon everything returned to the same way except that there was now a hint of danger lingering in the air.
