Chapter 3 - Language is Yeesh

As morning started to come, Tezariah looked solemn and weird. Even though he understood the language English, apparently he still could not understood what the guard was saying. The guy was speaking in another language. So he asked for another book, one in the so called Japanese. He again started to read slowly, learning words, then phrases, then sentences. He was like a newborn baby slowly learning their mother tongue.

At first his diction was awkward and off. The guards laugh as he tried to pronounce some words. Someone even pointed out his mistakes from time to time. But soon the guards were watching in amazement as the now Tezariah was become smoother in his speaking and was speaking in a more or less correct way. They were also eager and answer the questions he was asking.

(10AM)

The woman who "interview" Tezariah walked into an office with people surrounding a cell. They were noisily laughing. The woman approached the guys and was about to berate them when she heard a man talking. The man who could not even understand her yesterday was now speaking in Japanese with her colleagues. She immediately asked the people to disperse. Looking weirdly at the man she invited her to the same seat.

"So it seems you understand Japanese now?" The woman asked Tezariah.

"More or less, though I need more time to understand more about the usage of certain words." Tezariah replied in a somewhat accent that sounded like a native migrating who only started to use the language after so many years.

"What is your name?" The woman asked.

"Tezariah Ez Rahash Zur Aeranza Vari Teshiel Vima" Tezariah said. The woman felt weird with such a long name. "My name translate to Tezariah of Rahash Wanderer of the All-Magic, amazing right." Tezariah added with a smug face.

The woman rolled her eyes and proceeded to asked various questions. Tezariah answered what he could answer. Of course Tezariah could not tell her where he lived, and stuff related to the other side. He knew that he needed to blend in.

Before another question could be asked, "So what is your name?" Tezariah asked the woman.

"Suzuhara Yuria" she replied with a smile. Yuria then proceeded to ask questions and Tezariah answered as much as he could. "So, do you have a place to stay?" she asked. Tezariah shakes his head.

"Then do you have money to stay in like a hotel or something?" Tezariah once again shakes his head. Yuria sighs and offers Tezariah to stay with her for a day or two until after they investigate his identity. Apparently the prison cell is full for the day as many "minor" cases were reported in. Yuria, although vigilant felt that this man was not bad nor hostile. In fact she felt a sense of safety while interrogating him. She didn't know why. Although it felt weird to ask a guy to stay at her house, especially she just met this guy.

Unknown to her, Tezariah was subtly casting [Lesser Charm] and a weaker [Hypnosis] at Yuria. Of course, not that she would know about magic and can guard against it. Tezariah didn't want to stay in the cells because aside from it was dirty, a lot of people are currently detained. Tezariah hated too much noise especially when he needed to concentrate. So he only did what any Wizard was good at, making opportunities.

...

After an hour they arrived at Yuria's home. They were greeted by a young girl and boy. Yuria explained that in their house, she lives with her grandparents, father, and her younger siblings who were twins. Yuria told Tezariah about rules and stuff he should be mindful of. As they entered, the twins curiously looked at Tezariah while Tezariah looked at the house.

The house had a traditional feel with it. The wood, was furnished well showing the skill of the builders. According to Yuria, this house has housed 10 generations of their family. Tezariah looked at the interior and it was even more beautiful than the outside. The interior was simple yet elegant with depictions of flowers and trees all around the hallway. He also noticed the smell of the place was strong yet subtle. A fragrant smell filled his nose as they walk through the hallway.

Tezariah looked at the twins and smiled. They smiled back and ran away. Tezariah entered the room Yuria went in. He saw a man in his 40s to 50s looking at him and and an old woman, clearly at least in her 80s. Yuria motioned him to sit down. Tezariah sat at the place Yuria pointed at. Both the old woman and the man stared at him. Tezariah looked back. This staring contest was broken by a sudden laughter of the man.

"Finally a son-in-law! HAHAHAHA!" The laugher of the man was loud. The old woman only smiled weakly.

"Dad! What nonsense are you spouting!? He's just a friend staying here for a few days. Every time I bring a guy you immediately assume I'm dating them." Yuria exclaimed. She was frustrated that her father was doing such a thing.

Tezariah only smiled weakly and looked at Yuria amused. Her family is interesting.

"Oh yeah, where is grandfather?" Yuria asked. Clearly an attempt to change the topic.

"The old man had somewhere to go, he'll come back later." Yuria's father replied. The old woman poured tea for all of them and excused herself; she could not keep up with the energy of the young."

Tezariah tasted the tea....

When a loud bang came from the hallway.
