"Remember, trust in yourself, you can do it," Martha reassured Trinity as her name was called. They were at the battle arena, getting ready for the duel that would prove to everyone watching that she was a valuable member of the dragon council. She was nervous, as this was her first real battle, and she didn't know who her opponent was going to be. Martha had explained the basics of this fight, but she didn't yet know how to fully transform into her dragon.
"Curses to the idiot who suggested this," she murmured, as she made her way to the centre of the battle field. It covered a huge area and was in a round shape, with so many people... or dragons. It looked like the inside of a Roman coloseaum.
There were shouts of cheering and booing as she came into sight. She saw a tall thin man standing there, with a thick book. As Trinity reached the centre, the man began to speak, "Everyone, as we all know, we are gathered here to see the first battle of the year; a battle that will determine if this young dragon, Trinity Grove, is worthy to be called a dragon, and be a member of the dragon council." For someone so thin, he had a fairly loud voice.
He continued, "We all know that because she is a daughter of a human and dragon, a hybrid, she does not know our battle rules, so let me explain them..." He turned towards her as he continued, "There are 2 rounds, each 30 minutes long. 1st round is battle with weapons, where you will be able to choose your armour and your desired weapon. A word of caution..." he looked Trinity in the eye as he continued, "You choose your weapon once only, so choose wisely."
"The 2nd round is dragon battle, where your dragons will battle with each other. You are allowed to fly only as high as the shield... but make sure you don't touch it. Do you have any questions?" he asked, looking at Trinity.
"Ummm... ju...just one, what happens if I touch the shield?" She stuttered. There was an uproar of laughter, as she looked around in confusion.
"Quiet," the booming voice of the dragon lord sounded and the laughter died immediately. The Dragon Lord was like a very strict principle in a school, who was feared by everyone, except this principle was more likely to kill you if you didn't listen to him. "Marcus, show her."
"Yes Lord," The tall, thin man said, bowing low. He waved his hand and a mouse appeared magically in the air. He than waved his hand again and the animal flew straight towards the crowd, as though someone had thrown him, and upon touching the shield, which was surrounding the battle area, excluding the viewers, burst into a billions pieces. Trinity gasped, as no sign of the creature was left.
Marcus asked her again, "Is there any other questions, miss?"
"Yeah...ummm I...I was just wondering who will fightlle with me?"
"I did not understand you, 'fightlle'?" the man with brown eyes asked, confusion clear on his face.
"I...I...I meant fight...but I also said battle...so... You know, it just...." She stopped talking as a roar of laughter erupted from the onlookers.
"You will be given two ways to choose your opponent, first you can choose from this list," he said, handing her a paper. "Or you can choose to pick a name from this bowl," he said as a tall thin woman came, carrying a bowl, covered with a lid.
"What... or rather how do you want to choose?."
Trinity felt the crop top she was wearing soak in her sweat. All of a sudden, her sports bra felt like it was choking her, and her flexible jeans felt stiff. This was it. Was this going to be the way she'd die?.
She chose to pick from the bowl, and gave the name to Marcus to see and call him or her out.
"Greenard Earthing!" He exclaimed excitedly.

The swords clanked as Greenard attacked and Trinity tried to save herself. She felt like she was in a movie in which everyone knew what was happening except her, despite being the main character.
Her opponents sword swung left and right and it was clear who was winning. Trinity was struggling to stay on her feet, when suddenly a kick came out of nowhere, hitting her in her stomach which made her fly in the air and land a few feet away from a line on the ground which marked the shield. At that moment she knew she had to do something or she will blast into oblivion, just like that mouse.
The crowd cheered as the green eyed boy rose his sword in the air, not knowing that his opponent was getting up with renewed strength. The cheering died as the people saw Trinity get up.
The brown eyed girl wiped the blood from her mouth with the back of her hand as she made her way to the centre of the field where a shocked Greenard stood. Her armour felt heavy on her chest as she rised her sword above her head. "Let's dance," she said as she screamed and ran towards the now alert boy.
Left and right, up and down her sword sliced the air each time missing it's target. Well she wasn't a swordsman, but she remembered in movies during a fight, one should remain calm and see the opponents moves, so she thought of an idea, why not make your opponent angry instead.
"You fight like a girl," she said as their swords struck each other and their faces were close enough. It worked, as he pushed her with his other hand, anger evident in his eyes. She took this opportunity and swung her sword which sliced at his left cheek. He swung his weapon at her giving her right hand a cut, which unfortunately made her drop her sword, which was immediately picked up and thrown towards the shield by Greenard. Her weapon burst into a billion pieces. She was now completely unarmed and realised her trick had backfired on her. She got happy and began celebrating in her mind a little too early.
The smirk on Greenards face told her that he knew that he would now win, and they'd not even have to go into the second round. As Greenard rised his sword to strike his final blow, she fell backwards on the ground, a loud bell sounded, signalling the end of round one. Trinity was literally saved by the bell.
She gave a sigh of relief as she lay her head back with her eyes closed, grateful that her life was saved. There was just one problem, how on earth was she suppose to turn into a dragon?
There was an earthquake. As she opened her eyes, she felt wind brush on her face so fast, she felt like she was in an open car that was racing down the road. It took a few seconds for her to realize she was flying, but she was still on the piece of earth. "Greenard!" she muttered as she rolled and fell nearly two storeys to the ground, just as her 'magic earth' blew into nothing.
Landing with a loud thud, and giving an even louder "Umph", she looked to where the green haired boy was standing, and was not surprised to find a huge green and black dragon, staring at her.
The dragon was eyeing her every move, waiting as she slowing got up, probably waiting for his opponents dragon.
'Dragona, where are you?' Trinity thought desperately trying to change, as she realized that round two started immediately after round one. Why didn't Marcus mention this? Well, he did ask if she had any questions.
It didn't take long for Greenard to know that either Trinity had trouble turning, or she cannot turn at all. He took advantage of this as he began throwing boulders towards her, that she desperately tried to dodge, but some of which hit her and caused severe gashes and bruising. At that moment, she thanked God she was still wearing her armour. The crowd just cheered on, as the earth tore apart and Trinity fell in, just barely clinging to the top with her fingers.
"Do you surrender?" came a rough voice from above.
Looking up, she saw the green eyed dragon, looking at her with amusement on his face. She knew that if she said yes, she'd either be killed or banished for life. She couldn't afford any of the above punishment, because what would her father think. What if he returned and heard that she couldn't even win a battle and was killed or sent away. No. She cannot give up that easily.
"Being tough, huh?" Greenard asked, as Trinity struggled to keep hold. It seemed the very armour that was protecting her, was now trying to drag her downwards, towards her death.
"You see, this is Trinity, daughter of Triyast Grove," Greenard said, as he walked back and forth, looking at the crowd. "She couldn't even fight one battle. She's not a real dragon. She can't even turn. I'm sure Triyast knew she was a disappointment, that's why he left her to rot with the so called human b..." before he could finish, there was a loud angry screaming roar, as flames shot through the ground, and before Greenard, or the crowd could understand what was happening, something clutched the green dragon by the throat and went so high in the air that his vision blurred and was thrown down with such force, he thought he will now break every bone, but before he touched the ground, he was caught again and the whole thing repeated.
This time Greenard was able to get a glimpse of an orange dragons face, with almost red eyes. As he was thrown down, Greenard quickly created a thick bush, was was burnt to ashes just as fast, as a claw dug him in the back, injuring his left wing, so he couldn't fly.
"Didn't anyone ever tell you not to play with fire," Dragona screeched as the green haired dragon fell with a loud thud. The anger she felt inside was pouring out of her in the form of fire, but Greenard, now turned back, noticed that it wasn't directed towards him. Just at that moment, there was a loud bell sound, making it clear that the second and final round was now over, and it was now obvious to everyone who the winner was, as the orange dragon walked around the arena, circling the green eyed boy, as he lay there, bleeding and hurt. "You shouldn't have said that," Dragona said to him, before the brown eyed girl appeared. She raised her hand in the air as if to say 'I won' before collapsing a few feet away from an unconscious boy, as darkness swallowed her.
