Chereads / What's wrong with me? / Chapter 11 - CHAPTER 10

Chapter 11 - CHAPTER 10

Sabrinas entire back yard was destroyed. The tool shed was on the ground, with timber broken and scorched, and claw marks all over the place. Her fields looked like an 8.0 magnitude earthquake hit it, trees were uprooted, the ground ruptured, fires still alight on grass and fallen trees. Everything was demolished.

Triyast and his daughter just stood there, at the door leading outside, with their mouths hanging open in disbelief. It was the first time for Trinity to witness something like this and she was a little scared.

"Sab, what happened?" Triyast asked, still facing outside.

"Oh, some amateur came to play," Sabrina sounded so calm. "I taught them a lesson or two."

"Who?" this time, Triyast turned to look at her.

"The knights guard. Never seen him before."

"How'd they...." "You two freshen up and we'll talk at the dinner table, yeah?" Sabrina said, gently pulling them inside. She looked at Triyast with a 'we need to talk alone' look.

"Yeah, I think that's a great idea," he said as he went in with his daughter and his friend.

"Come dear, I'll show you your room," Sabrina took Trinity towards a room.

There was a comfortable bed, a dresser, and a closet in the small room, with a bathroom and restroom. Sabrina had told Trinity that she can wear anything she liked from the closet. Looking down at her blue dress, she decided to bath first, before checking out the wardrobe.

It was a wonderful cool shower, and the vanilla scented soap was good, but how she wished to use her favourite, lavender scented ones. After the shower, she wrapped herself in her towel, came out and went to check out the clothes.

There was a limited choice, only a few pairs of dresses, jeans and tops, and some ladies shirt. She took out a blue jeans and a green tank top. She missed her home, Her room, Her clothes... Will she ever be able to see them; her family, again?

After looking at the mess on her head, called hair, she decided not to comb it, since it'll take her hours to untangle her locks and she didn't want to be late for the cookies, so she just tied it up in a bun, knowing for certain she's going to regret it later.

As she neared the kitchen, she heard the adults talking.

"...so you knew it?" Her father was saying.

"They believe I'm the last of my kind. This was going to happen," the woman said.

"I told Dorin that I was taking Trinity to the crater, so if they go there, they'll be missleaded."

"You really think so? They're gonna know somethings wrong. You know it."

"I've gotten under their radar. I don't want to drag my daughter in with me. They don't know about her... at least not yet."

"Is Tyrone showing any..."

"Your son hasn't shown any signs of being an Oracle."

"Look Triyast, I just know that Trinity is the one. I felt it when I touched her. You have to tell her everything."

This was getting frustrating for Trinity. Who were they talking about? What does she need to know? As soon as she heard Sabrina tell her father to tell her everything, she couldn't control it anymore. "Tell me what?" She blurted out stepping out the corner. The conversation between the two grown ups died, as they whipped their heads in her direction.

"Trin, what?... I mean how long?... How much did you hear?" This was the first time Triyast wasn't sure what he was saying.

"Enough to know you should be telling me something important," Trinity said, folding her arms.

"I'll serve dinner and my cookies," Sabrina excused herself, and disappeared into the kitchen.

"Sit," Her father said, gesturing towards a couch. He himself sat on another one. They were in the living room, a very tiny room with just a set of couch, a tv cabinet, a small tv, and a radio. Trinity sat down, and waited patiently for her father to start the conversation, which was clearly uneasy for him. "You know how, in every story book about dragons, there's always a knight who would slay the mighty beast?"

"Yes?"

"Well, there are dragon hunters, called knights, who track down dragons and kill them."

Trinity rised her eyebrow, but didn't say anything. Triyast continued, "They use special weapons, made from the scale of a dragon, to kill us and they have special gadgets to track us." He shook his head. "I... They have tracked me down..." "So does that mean they will kill you?" Trinity asked, fear evident in her voice.

"As long as I stay low key and don't use any item that could track me, I'm safe." Trinity felt relief sweep over her. She couldn't loose her father, not after the fact that he might be the only family she has left.

"Remember I was telling you that there are different types of dragons?"

"Yeah?"

"Well Sabrina is an Oracle dragon. She's the only one of her kind left, if her son doesn't show signs of being like her before she dies, the world will be wiped out of these future tellers."

"She can see the future?" Trinity asked in amazement.

"Yep."

"What did she see about me?"

Her father hesitated for a moment. "She said that you will be an amazing dragon."

It was clear that he was hiding something, but at this point, Trinity didn't want to rush her father. "So a dragon attacked Sabrina today?" She asked, diverting their attention.

"Yes, they were dragons, who are under control of the knights," Triyast replied, clearly happy that his daughter didn't push at the previous topic. He hated to lie to her, but she needed to gradually understand about everything, as she cannot process all the information at once.

Trinity gave a concerned look, "It's a good thing she's an Oracle dragon, she must have seen them coming, right?"

"It doesn't work like that. She can only see the future of others, and only when she comes in contact with them." Triyast looked at the window, to see the darkness had swallowed everything. "Maybe we should eat something," he said.

Trinity looked at his tired looking face. She knew that as much as she wanted to know every single detail about her kind, she also needed rest. So did her father. "Yeah, really wanna taste that cookies," she said smiling, just as Sabrinas voice came, "Dinners served.''

The roast chicken with pasta was something Trinity had never eaten before. She had eaten spaghetti with meatballs, so this was going to be something different.

"Mmm, this is good. It's actually delicious," Trinity said as she stuffed her mouth with more pasta.

"And to think that a young lady once told me 'you shouldn't talk with your mouth full'," Triyast said, mimicking his daughter.

"Very funny," Trinity said, sarcastically, narrowing her eyes.

When Triyast saw that Sabrina looked confused, he related to her what had happened in the car while they were driving. All three of them began laughing, except that Trinitys laugh was ironic.

"Mmm, Sabrina, you have to give me the recipe for these cookies. They're scrumptious," Trinity said, as she ate her tenth one.

"Of course I will." She offered her guest a platefull more. "I'm just glad that you love it."

After wolfing down at her meal, Trinity decided to go to her bed. As tired as she was, Trinity couldn't go to sleep; first because she had eaten way beyond the capacity of her stomach, and second, because her chest felt heavy due to indigestion. It's true what they say, dinner should be eaten like a pauper.

It was around 1am, that Trinity was awoken by someone gently shaking her. She opened her eyes, squinting as the light in her room felt like they were burning her eyes. "Dad?" She questioned, as her eyes were able to see clearly.

"Trin, honey, wake up," He was saying softly, as he gently shook her.

"What's wrong?" She asked in confusion, rubbing her eyes.

"Something has come up. Let's go."

"Where?" she sat on her bed.

"Where's your backpack?" Triyast asked, looking around.

"What's wrong, dad? you're scaring me," Trinity was now fully awake, and her father's actions were worrying her. She could also hear voices from other rooms, like someone else was there.

"We don't have time! Triyast?" A voice called out as a face came to sight, a tall guy, with ash blonde hair stood at the open doorway of Trinitys room. His amber coloured eyes looked at the brown of Trinitys. Then his eyes drifted towards Triyast. "Hurry up, we've to go, now," he said hurriedly, while turning to go back.

Trinity looked at her father with a questioning look, unable to say anything. She looked at the door, then back at her father.

"That's Tyrone, Sabrinas son. You have to go with him. He'll take you to the dragon meeting."

"WHAT? What about you? Aren't you coming," Trinity burst out.

"We don't have time..." They could now hear roars and screeching noises. "LETS GO!" Triyast said, almost pulling at Trinity.

"Dad, what's going on?Trinity asked, in a horrified voice.

"Honey, I wish I had time to explain." He took Trinity to the living room.

There was a mixture of fear and confusion in the air. Something was happening and Trinity didn't know what, but she had a thought, and how she wanted it to be wrong. The roars got nearer and nearer, Tyrone and Trinity ran outside, towards the van that was parked behind Triyasts car, and just instinctively, she looked up, only to see a massive dragon flying toward the house, it's wings flapping with so much force, it could blow away a building.

"Wait, what about my dad and your mom?" Trinity asked, realising that they were still inside.

"They can take care of themselves," was all the guy could said before they were almost engulfed in flames. Before she knew it, there was a huge spray of water, that was now fighting with the flame, which also drenched her. Trinity could just barely make out a brown dragon above her, when suddenly a grey dragon flew out of the house with a white one following close behind.

The grey dragon fought with the intruder, spraying it with fire, while the white one just flew for dear life. The brown dragon, seeing the white one, immediately rushed towards her, protecting her with intensity. Trinity looked back at the grey dragon, knowing that it is her father. The intruder was strong, but not as strong as her father. The white dragon pushed at the brown one, probably to tell it to take her away.

The brown dragon came down, turning into Tyrone and pulled Trinitys arm, "we've got to go now," he said pulling her towards the van.

"But... dad..." " NOW."
