Chereads / Behind that Pillar / Chapter 3 - Suing Mr. Gordon

Chapter 3 - Suing Mr. Gordon

The Director of sales was reporting that there was a ten percent decline in sales these past two months.

Because of the propaganda distributed on social media about harmful chemicals in their products. Although it was completely not true, it was available even if they already requested to put it down.

Although this was low and unethical, many companies still used these strategies to increase their sales.

They're now on the fourth product, which was their energy drink.

"We don't know yet if this is by the competitor but, this fourth propaganda is serious." The speaker is an old man Asian man, a good friend of Timothy's father, June Nguyen.

"Tim, this is serious." June address it to him directly.

Illegal drugs. June was putting it mildly. What they write in the paper report was diacetylmorphine or known as heroin. He ground his teeth in rage. Who else would do this kind of thing, but the competitor?

They established this company sixty years ago this was his grandfather's legacy. Whoever did this triggered the demon in him. How dare they sabotage his administration?

They're ready to discuss the fifth product, but his assistant came in bringing him his phone.

"The Mayson Family is suing you for raping their eighteen-year-old daughter." Without even a greeting or a salutation, the lawyer broke down the news right away.

"The Maysons, my housekeepers!?" Timothy felt a heavy pounding in his head.

What the fuck? These people are too greedy. No wonder they stay homeless. They always try to rob people that help them.

"Take care of them and make sure they will get nothing." So much about saving tax money. He massaged his head with his thumbs. He gave back his phone to his assistant and tried to put back his focus on the reporter.

They're discussing the butter that has similar ingredients to plastic.

But their butter will need that one ingredient and needed another process to make it plastic. They're using these stupid analogies to stir the public.

Many foods, drugs, and other chemicals contain the same raw materials.

They've touched his sensitive spot.

"Enough!" He stood up, looking furious.

"Everyone! I want you to develop a strategy to counter this situation. No one has to leave the office tonight without a resolution." He was in distress, so he asked a secretary to bring Mr. Gordon Ice cold water.

Timothy was thankful that he had efficient employees. He was confident that one of them will have a resolution tonight.

He closed his eyes and inhaled, then released it heavily. He calmed down a little.

But he heard a familiar ringtone. He winces because he knew it's his. A few minutes later, his assistant came back, bringing him his smartphone.

"Sir, your mother." Then he handed the phone to Timothy.

"Hello mother, I'm sorry, but I'm busy right now." But he can't just turn the phone off with his own mother.

"I can't remember the time that you weren't busy. Anyway, Joe's fifth birthday is on Friday he wants to see you." His mother's voice seems soft, but she knows she's still hurting.

His father's death, and the tragedy of his sister. It's still a problem that the entire family was trying to bypass.

"Okay. I'll try to drop by. But I can't stay long Mom, someone is trying to put the company down, and five products are being targeted." He had no problem confiding in his mother.

"I've heard it from June, I know. Can't you ask Calvin's help?" Calvin was like a son to her too and acted as a father to Joe because he can't always be there for his nephew.

"Mom, we owe Calvin too much already." He said, laughing.

"Right. Shame on us." Her mom's voice was giggling too on the other side of the line.

"I'll go home tomorrow night, but I'll have to settle this first." He most likely couldn't come home tomorrow night, but he had to give his mother something, so she'd let him go now.

"Okay, also your aunt Bern will come to Joe's birthday. I'm wondering how Mimi looks like." She sounded excited to meet their old neighbor.

Aunt Bern used to be their neighbor until his grandfather called them to inherit his mansion. Her Mom used to be the homecoming queen and the former local weather reporter in their town. But business expansion, they have to leave to Europe and leave everything behind.

"Well, she's probably grown up." He said casually, now massaging his head back.

"She probably is. Alright, I know you're trying to get rid of me. Just take care of yourself, please?"

It took them five more minutes to complete their goodbyes.

All the directors were in the room now.

"Tim, can I speak to you privately?" June called him out. He nodded.

"I'm sorry, gentlemen, give us five minutes." He invited him to his office.

"Hey, Joe's birthday is on Friday. Please come. Mom and Jada would be happy to see you." Timothy taps June's shoulders.

"Ah! You know how many problems I have to face?" Staring at his face like telling him, do I have time to attend children's birthday party look.

Timothy gave him a sour laugh.

"I know." He said.

"Anyway, I receive a report from my own men, that the propaganda is within. Meaning an insider is causing this. Because they seemed to know the details of the product profile." June quickly retaliated. He handed him evidence of why they were targeting his ingredients.

"Thank you June, can you investigate this further? I will need to focus on our recovery." Timothy knew he can trust June.

"Of course, as long as I can get a month's vacation after this." He grinned at him.

"Deal!" They shook hands and went on with the meeting.

Their five minutes were not even over.

"Mr. President, the advertising department would like you to see their newly made commercial." His assistant's voice was ringing outside his office door.

That fast? He smiled in relief.

"Seems like your vacation won't be that long." June ignored him but looking more relieved.
