Chapter 6 - The situation

"Mi, your Mom called us just now. She wants us to live and take care of your house because she's moving into Aunt Maggie's house." Ron was, of course, familiar to Aunt Maggie because she's a household name to the Cheng Family.

"Wait, what?!" She wanted to mishear it. But Roy said it loud and clear.

"Did you agree?" She knew that Roy could not say no to her mother, and she would risk her anger because he knew she would understand. He was in a situation that he needed to respond to very quickly.

"I told her I will come to her house after work, but I haven't answered her yet. I need to ask you first." Amie admired him for that.

"She has decided and not even consulted me. My mother doesn't really have a sense of respect towards me." She wanted to scream and cry wildly.

"Mi, I will support you whatever your decision is, but you have to decide quickly!" She knew Ron was almost at their house but was just buying some time.

"Go take it, she's already decided, and no one can stop her, anyway. Plus, there's no one that can take better care of our house than you, you've been a part of that house too." She said helplessly.

If her mother was indeed moving to Palmera, instead of selling the house, Roy can take care of it and it could help him financially. Even if they're doing good already, but they have to prepare for Reily's tuition.

"Are you sure?" He knew that they didn't really have a choice, and it's too good to be true. It's more like asking himself if this good fortune was real.

"The universe is working with your good luck honey, grab it now." She sighed and then dropped the call because she really wanted to cream.

She brought her comfort food and sat on the bench in the business park.

"So we meet again, Amie." She turned and saw Calvin.

"Hey." She smiled and waved at him. She didn't really mean it. She didn't expect him to sit beside her and help her munch on the chips she's eating.

"Don't tell me this is your dinner?" He asked, still chewing something from her stash.

"No! I'm stress eating, of course, I'll still eat dinner." She answered matter-of-factly.

"Of course. You should eat dinner." Calvin said, chuckling.

"Can I buy you dinner?" He asked randomly.

"Really? That's so kind of you." No one bought her dinner before, except Roy and Niella.

"I normally don't buy dinner for anyone, only for beautiful women." He took his handkerchief and wipe his hands and mouth.

"So why am I exempted?" She didn't see herself as pretty.

"What do you mean you're exempted?" He looked confused by her question.

"You said you only buy beautiful women dinner, I'm not beautiful nor pretty. Why buy me dinner?" She slurped on her ice cream carelessly.

"Oh, my god!"

She wanted to laugh at him loudly, calling his god.

"Hm?"

Is this guy insane? She thought.

"Amie, Amie. I really like you a lot." He touched her nose with his index finger.

"You like me?"

It added to her confusion. What kind of like does he mean?

"Come on, I'll let you choose the food you wanted to eat."

Calvin had never been as excited since a few years back. She didn't remember him. But he remembered how bravely she stood in front of the pack of wolves that night.

Her innocence probably saved her, triggered by Timothy's said maternal instinct or hero instinct, whatever they call it. Because he remembered they took the other girls grosser than the ugliest porn you can ever imagine.

"Really? That's awesome! I always wanted to try Japanese food, not teriyaki. I wanted that fresh uncooked fish with wasabi."

Calvin thought this girl had a strange food preference. Thinking of porn, her body has grown into the right proportions. She was damn hot without her knowing it.

Calvin wanted to bury her hands in her bouncy ass.

"You like raw things?" He was kidding her.

"No! I never had raw things! I only wanted to try the Japanese food."

She answered straightforwardly and didn't even get what kind of raw he meant.

He drove her around the district and finally lead her to a fine dining Japanese restaurant.

While waiting for their orders.

"Why are you stress eating earlier?"

Amie could not believe Calvin knew about stress eating.

"Um, it's my mother. She wanted to follow me here in Palmera."

Oops! Is she supposed to tell strangers about her personal life? But he's buying her dinner, so it's kind of repayment-ish.

"Why would she do that?" Calvin's questions were too natural for her not to answer.

"She's a very controlling person, not a bad person, but she only raised me the way she knows how." She shamelessly quoted Roy.

"Uhum. She's a single parent? Wow, I love her already." Calvin tried to drive the conversation.

"No one can't resist my mother. She even had my best friend agreed to live in our house." Their orders arrived, so she has to say that while the hostess was serving them.

"What do you mean live in your house?" Calvin narrowed his eyes, looking really interested.

"Well, she doesn't want to sell the house, and she wanted someone to take care of it, so she has my best friend live in it free of charge." She now digs in with the platter of sushi.

"Oh Yum, this is truly delicious!" With big eyes, she appreciated the taste.

"Why doesn't she want to sell the house?" Calvin tasted sushi, but he was not a fan. So he asked her more questions instead.

"Well, it's a memorial to my father. We Asians are so sentimental."

She said in between chomping of food.

"Your friend must be lucky." He sipped wine and tried to hear more about the friend she was telling.

"Honestly, he deserves it, he's a good person." She was so proud of Roy.

"He?" Calvin got more interested.

"Yep, surprisingly, I have a male best friend, although that idiot thought I was gay and I have something with his wife. Can you believe it? My own best friend?"

She rolled her eyes. She feels like they've known each other for years.

"He's really a lucky man,"

Calvin concluded and sipped more wine.

"We grew up together. That house is part of his life. He can't bear it if we sell it to someone else. I can't bear it if they sell it to someone else."

Now that she's able to pour out her dilemma, Amie actually felt really nice, and it's good for her digestion.
