When Nancy opened her eyes, she was in the middle of a desert. As far as her vision went, all she could see was sand alone. With the sun shining brightly over her head and the vultures circling above her, Nancy understood that she had strayed from the correct timeline. She tried using the connecting chain but didn't get any reply, meaning Avon was not there which sulked her heart deeper. She closed her eyes and touched the locket again. And after a few seconds, she opened her eyes, but even then, she remained there. "Why isn't it working?" Nancy asked herself. She tried many times but was stuck there. She could not understand what was happening to her, where she was and what she needed to do next. Nancy started looking around and screamed at the top of her voice, "Hello? Avon? Soya? Anybody there?" She kept calling, but all she could hear was her own voice, after numerous failed attempts, she sat down, tired and desolate.
For some time, she sat there with her head on her knees. Nancy was really upset now, she was void of ideas, as she was left hanging in the middle of a desert there. It felt as if she was entirely cut off from the rest of the world, as she started crying remembering all of her loved ones, Gina, Lisa, Avon, Drake, her parents. Just then, one of the vultures circling her, dived straight for her head and came really close to her. Nancy looked up and saw the vulture approaching her, "I'm still alive, you bastard!" As she threw a handful of sand at it, fuming with anger.
