Chapter 13 - Breaking My Heart

Breaking my heart

"Hohoho... Finally my workaholic grandson got some free time to call his old grandma."

"My lovely grandma isn't old. She is an evergreen beauty."

"This beauty has many wrinkles on her face."

"Her charm doesn't age."

"No, she must be ugly that even her grandson doesn't like talking to her anymore. He didn't feel the need to inform his worried grandma about his arrival after a long business trip."

She pouted.

"Grandma, I didn't want to disturb your sleep as when I reached here, it was already past your sleeping time and the doctor had warned us to not disturb you during your sleep time."

"....You could have called your grandpa. That old man would have told me in the morning."

"I did think so but then he sleeps like a log and only wakes up in the morning so it would have been useless to call him."

Both grandma and grandson berated the old innocent man who wasn't at fault.

"And I couldn't inform you in the morning either. Since I had to come early to work and inspect the company. It was long due."

"Aiyyaa....When will you learn to take care of yourself? You came back yesterday and today you are back to your workaholic self."

"Grandmaa...I do take care of myself."

"I am not going to believe your sweet mouth again. Last time you did the same and when I called Alex, he told me how you didn't eat three meals a day. You only ate dinner and the other two meals were ignored by you."

Felix gritted his teeth, "Ms.Emily, is my grandmother taking her medicines on time?"

Ms. Emily Ford, the nurse and personal maid of his grandma, was appointed after his grandma had fainted.

Emily got dragged between a stubborn grandma and a persistent grandson.

"Don't try to divert the topic. You don't need to worry for me. I have many people who gladly do this job."

The grandson shut his mouth when his plan was revealed by his own grandma.

"Grandma, your grandson has a very peculiar ideology. I believe that we should be dependent on us only. I do know that I don't really have enough time to look after myself but don't you see that your grandson is a tough guy."

"I don't need a nurse or a maid to check on me. And I'll try to eat food on time."

"Didn't you know my dear grandson that your grandma can see through you? I know how much you value your own health." She sarcastically replied to him.

"I am warning you for the very last time, if you don't stop your bad habits like these then be ready to face my punishment."

He didn't have a choice to reject his grandma. He knew how she was, her personality varied according to the people. Her family was her weakness. If anyone tries to hurt them then she won't hesitate to castrate them. She had her own values and beliefs. She had made him understand the fact that he can't make everyone like him.

However, with his odd understanding of things, he had twisted the fact into 'If you can't make everyone like and love you then be sure to make them know that the only option available to them is: hate and dislike you', when she heard her grandson's logic behind this it shook her. But she kind of expected it. Since his birth, he wasn't any usual baby, he didn't cry when he was born rather he gave a sly smile to the doctor.

When she held him in her arms for the first time ever and watched his hazel eyes glow with excitement, she knew for his happiness, she could go to any extent. He became her favourite instantly and he understood about it as he would always come and sit on her lap when she chatted with her friends or even his grandpa. It was his way of saying that only he deserves her attention.

'Good old times. He was the most adorable and cutest grandson, although he still is but now he doesn't depend on me like his childhood. My grandson grew up to be a smart and intelligent man who could easily outsmart others. I miss those times when my little one would come and sleep in between me and his grandpa.'

He thought the call got disconnected but when he checked his phone, it showed the call was on going.

He waited for his grandma to say.

"You sneaky boy, yesterday my friend told me how famous my grandson is for being a calculative and cunning man like a snake."

"Grandma, I would like to suggest to your friend that she should ask her sources to address me as a charming devil rather than a ugly scaled reptile like a snake. As it won't do any justice to my striking face."

"FELIX CARTER!!!"

Felix moved his phone away from his ears.

"Grandma, if you scream like this in my ears. Then they might die. If that happens, how will I be able to find your future daughter in law?"

He used his ultimate trumpet card and it worked like magic. His grandma stopped nagging him and transformed from a furious raging lioness into a meek lamb.

"Wha----- what did you say?"

"What did I say, grandma? I don't remember."

"Hey! you brat, don't play pranks on your grandma." She growled at him. Her breath turned heavy with the fury ignited by her grandson.

'Grandma, you should decide whether you want me to get married or be a monk until I die.

As here, when I am talking about your future granddaughter in law, you aren't believing my words.'

Felix felt wronged and betrayed by his grandma.

"Grandma, do you really think that I am playing a prank on you?"

"Yes." Her immediate and without any hesitation response shattered his belief in her.

He wondered maybe his grandma would take some time to ponder over it but, no, she denied it quickly, not bothering to give a second thought.

"You are breaking my heart now into tiny little pieces."

"Was it there in the first place? As I always believed you are merely surviving on oxygen and some other body organs. You know I had this doubt inside me that what if you are not human but an alien."

He couldn't take another blow to his heart from his grandma, so he asked her the reason for so many missed calls.

'Grandpa was right when he told me to beware of grandma, as she used to be a big and famous bully in her time. She didn't bully innocent people instead her targets were the other bullies and hooligans.' Felix reminisced.

Felix remembered the time when his grandpa shared his college story with him. It wasn't only about him but also his grandma.

"Why did you call me that many times before grandma? Is there any urgent issue that needs my presence?"
