Chapter 9 - Capability

Capability

After informing The Devil CEO that his order for the meeting had been spread.

"Did you do what I had asked you to?" The Devil's icy cold toned voice reached Alex's ears.

Alex shivered as it was the first time ever that he was feeling incompetent. He had tried his level best to gather information about what his CEO had asked him. Yet he couldn't find anything.

It was as if the girl that they met in the morning was an illusion. No data could be found related to her, it felt she didn't even exist in the first place.

The Devil's hand paused as he didn't hear any reply from his assistant, "Alex, I am waiting."

He woke up from his spur of the moment.

He gave a 90 degree bow to the Devil.

"It's my incompetence that I couldn't complete the task."

The Devil CEO's finger twitched at the pure honesty of his right hand man.

'He sure is an easy target to tease. I sound like a creep bully.' Devilish CEO's rare blood red eyes glimmered in amusement. The light's reflection on them made it appear like two shining rubies.

He wasn't known as the devil for fun only. His ruby red eyes glowed in the darkness. They looked so scary and fiery to be stared at by others.

"I even hacked all the CCTV cameras around of that area yet I couldn't find any glimpse of her. The cameras didn't catch any image of her."

"They must have been tempered." The Devil's statement made Alex freeze.

'Why didn't I think about this possibility?'

As he began to rewind his memories, he realised that there was a small glitch in the video. It was tiny and couldn't possibly be noticed. However, here he, Alexandro Wilson was the assistant and right hand man of the Devil.

If he couldn't detect it then the girl they were discussing wasn't simple.

The Devil already knew the fact that the girl he met was anything but simple.

The Devil's red eyes showed an unexplainable twinkle in them, 'Angel, you are making me feel more curious about you.'

His mind was getting filled with the pyramid of thoughts of only the girl.

The girl whose sweet and melodious voice froze him and made him feel unknown emotions. It had made him turn into a statue and he could hardly move.

The only senses that worked even at that state were his ears. Her voice gave him a feeling of calmness, his heart felt at peace. He couldn't discern it.

It was his first time. Nothing had ever made him feel like it.

He put his hand on his left chest when he observed his own heart acting so weird and those erratic movements.

'Her voice is still ringing in my auditory nerves. She had engraved it in my brain now. I can't sit patiently without knowing anything or having any ounce of information about the girl who had cracked the protective shield around my heart.'

Alex said, "Sir, what should we do now?"

He clenched his fists as he couldn't help but continue to chide himself at his first failure.

The failure left an ugly and bitter taste in his mouth.

The handsome CEO turned round his chair and faced the large glass mirror. He didn't give any response nor did he scold him.

He stood up from his chair and went closer to the mirror. His company building was at the same level as Esther's company. Though both of them were built in the opposite corners of the city.

His eyes gazed down onto the buzzing streets. There was continuous movement on the highway road which he could see from his cabin room.

Alex didn't disturb his CEO.

Alex was downright ashamed of himself. He couldn't be courageous enough to look into the Devil's eyes and witness the disappointment on his own so he had forced himself to look down at the floor.

"You should stop disgracing yourself. It wasn't your fault." Alex heard his CEO.

He wanted to argue with him that it's his lack of ability. However in this process, Alex forgot that no one is perfect, not everyone can do everything.

Alex had begun to view himself as useless, he couldn't fathom the fact that he had failed. It wasn't entirely his fault. Since his childhood, he had been taught to be successful in every type of work and not to let down his CEO.

Yet he had failed and had made the Devil discontented.

'How should I let this grown up man child, Alex, understand that making mistakes is natural and I never expected him to always be correct. I know it is hard for him to believe but he has to. He won't even listen to my words. I should give him a vacation. It would help him and let him have time free from work load and stress.'

The Devil shook his head.

The Devil opened his mouth, "Do one thing, she had given her card. Contact the number written in it and tell her that you would like it if she can fix up the damages. After that go to her and give her the car keys."

Alex got stupefied. He didn't perceive the reason behind his CEO's words. He didn't move an inch.

The Devil saw his assistant's eyes widening. His mouth would have fallen too but he knew that Alex didn't let that happen.

'Did I say anything wrong?' The Devil questioned himself. He couldn't find anything incorrect with choice of the words neither he stuttered or stumbled when he explained his plan to Alex.

The Devil never realised the weight and meaning of his phrases.

What should Alex feel when his 'I am not interested in falling in love or getting myself a love interest Devilish CEO', had given him an absurd order.

Alex might be infamous for having a low EQ but certainly it was better than his Devil CEO.

He had this thought before too when the Devil had asked him to dig information about the girl they met in the morning. However, his consciousness reminded him that it must be because the Devil was angry at her and wanted to make her experience his wrath.

'I should have assumed it when he had asked me to exchange cards with her. The one who always treated the girls other than his mother and grandma as if they were some unworthy and annoying bugs.'

Alex yelled inwardly, 'Am I getting a lady CEO Boss now?'

He wanted to dance and celebrate.

With his late realisations, he dismissed the thoughts of his capabilities.
