Lanthim was alone in his apartments. The day that passed filled his mind. As he lay on the bed, sifting through all that had happened. Going to the village, for the first time. Had been a special treat that opened his eyes to an even larger world.
What truly moved him, however, was what happened during his interaction with the Talrintos Stone. The feeling of purified mana entering the stone magnified to such an extreme. Never had he seen such a thing in his life. Or sensed anything so powerful.
Turning over onto his side looked out the massive windows that looked out over all the countryside. He did not go back to the village with Milty after his time with the stone. His time had been occupied with a conversation between his mother and father.
Concerning future training, if any, that he would have to undertake. A much-wasted conversation ending with his mother saying something to the effect.
"There will be no need for training, firstly since most magic practitioners are female and would likely not take a male student. Second, it would likely end with the teacher leaving due to his near-instant ability to create and use new kinds of magic in ways even I do not understand." [Litralia]
Nedral had been confused by this. Exactly what did she mean by creating new magic? Whether an answer was found before his eventual departure. Lanthim did not know due to dismissal. He was not present for the rest of the conversation.
In truth, though it did not matter in Lanthim's mind what plans they had made, his view on the present situation was one of little caring. Sitting abruptly from his position, Lanthim began to meditate. A clearer mind would help with sleep.
Sitting alone in the east library, Litralia looked over the many. Books that she had placed on one of the large tables. They were, situated in the center of the library. The amount was staggering. Almost one hundred thirty books total were there.
Most being large volume sets, all were based around the same theme. Mana manipulation, Regalia construction methods, and Beginner to Advanced magical sequence constructs. Interesting books for a six-year-old boy to be reading, then Litralia had known that Lanthim was not a child that could be held to the worldly norms.
Keeping him out of society for the first five years of his young life was meant to keep him safe from the many threats that would likely come against him. The most dangerous of these was the elf clans being altogether not in the least, way concerned with the morality of killing young male humans.
Sadly the details about why this came about were not documented, and the one person who would know sat at the summit of the mountain and never, talked with anyone unless she summoned them.
That did not mean, however, that the elves were not reliable. In giving the account of what happened during the war before the fourth breaking of the world. How human males had supported Calgian in his attempts to take control, Hunted the elf race to near extinction then followed their master's defeat.
The sealing of human males. By the magi before they left this realm for another.
Picking up one of the books Litralia began to read, having already studied these books many times in the past Lanthim's, interest in them while worrisome.
His practicing of magic while supervised had been for some time now encouraged. Now though is studying all layers of magical theory. Eventually, he would reach a point where he would surpass all worldly understanding. Before he became of age at seventeen.
(Knock)
"My lady, we have the books from the other libraries that the young master has been studying."
The door opened slowly, with Milty, Felyma, and Reiflin entering with arms full of books. Litralia just sat looking at the number of books now presented to her.
"Well, Milty, what chance is there that Lanthim has advanced his training even with the increased surveillance? Namely, Reiflin and the six familiars that she brought with her?" [Litralia]
Litralia looked over to Milty, who looked concerned she wished to give a truthful answer. However, it was not something she felt anyone present would want to hear.
"My lady, I am afraid that for some time. The young master has been increasing his training regiments in both the physical and mental to the point that he may have developed a Regalia to supplement his less than average Mana supply." [Milty]
Milty bowed low, waiting for her mistress to speak.
"Well, that just proves what I told my husband earlier. It is unlikely that the boy will require any training before entering the academy then again it might not be a good idea to send him at all."
Speaking towards the stack of books, Litralia signalled for the servants to leave.
Closing the door behind them, all that was left was silence.
'Regalia, well, that complicates things. I have sent Reiflin and Felyma over to his apartments to search for the activation sequences needed to activate a Regalia.' {Litralia}
Litralia never let her eyes leave the books before her. These devices were sometimes in the shape of simple or. Ornate articles of clothing mostly bracelets, or earrings, depending on the individual. These devices, however, were not the Regalia itself though, but simply the means of activating it. The large tattoos were made up entirely of extremely advanced magical sequences. That covered some parts of one's body after activation was the Regalia.
Not finding any would mean that there was the possibility that he had found a way to bypass the need for such devices. That thought truly frightened her under the excepted practices. When one developed regalia the control deceive came as part of the regalia out of the body of the one constructing it.
The process is just as tiring as it was painful. A great deal of time was also needed to complete the process. When developing her regalia the amount of time required was long and tedious. As well only, under ideal circumstances could one be made. The requirements were simple. The first one would need a place like a pond that was located in the depths of Mount. Gretalros.
With extreme quantities of Natural Mana. The second understanding of how to infuse both pure and natural into the body to create the Regalia. So, in the end, the entire process is done within one's body. Making each Regalia unique and person since it is a part of one's self.
'I will have to wait till morning to examine this matter further. If he does have a Regalia the possibility of danger will increase even more.' {Litralia}
As Litralia thought this to herself, slowly standing and looking down at the table before leaving the library.
The next morning, for Lanthim, was as it had always been early. A storm had blown through the area the night before, so looking out the windows, there was still a gloomy gray look to the sky. He was at present, making his way to a small sparing room in the far southern block of the estate.
The distance never felt that far for him, mainly because he would. Just ride one of Reiflin's familiars whenever he would go to this particular room in the house. These great beasts that the dragon maid had brought with her were like great hounds. Standing almost a full meter tall with three times that in length.
The one he was riding this morning was called Genma, smaller than the other. However, his speed without excessive noise is what Lanthim wanted.
If Lanthim had tried to make this trip on his own, it would likely take ten minutes on just his feet. On Genma's back, the trip was made in less than three. He knew, however, that Genma and all the other Familiars in the estate were there to watch over him and be there when one of his three caretakers could not be.
Dismounting himself from Genma, he looked to the doors that were almost always closed. This morning though, they were wide open. The sparing room was full of people mostly, servants and others he did not know. Looking through the group, he noted a few dressed in full combat gear not, what one would wear for simple sparing.
In the center of the room stood Litralia looking at him as he entered.
"Mother, you have never come to observe my training before." [Lanthim]
Not acknowledging any others in the room, he simply looked at his mother.
"I would like to see just how much you know about magic. Lanthim, you would not mind would you give a demonstration for us this morning?"
Her smile had a hint of worry. However, she felt she needed to know exactly what he could do.
"I would happily give a demonstration. However, it would be a bloody affair if I had to spar against any of these that are assembled here." [Lanthim]
His answer generated a great clamour among the onlookers that had gathered. One of these who he had not noticed until now stood behind Litralia.
"I am pleased to see you after so many years, Lady Mynrea." [Lanthim]
Lanthim gave a low bow acknowledging the dragon lady who never left her home on the mountain.
"It is good that you are a pleased child. It has been some years since you came to see me last." [Mynrea]
Mynrea had an interesting smile, and so did many others as well.
"I am pleased to come to this house even though it is much below me to examine your magical skill." [Mynrea]
So his usual training would not happen this morning that did not matter though he had been desiring. To find opponents to test his skills against. Looking over the entire room a smile came to his face.
"Well then, let's get this beating started." [Lanthim]
