What remained of the battle between Leigh and the troops were two soldiers who were trembling in their place, unable to maintain their calm and strong expressions on their faces. Despite the obvious terror on the two warriors' faces, the one on the left never released grip of Archer, whom they believed was their sole hope of survival.
Archer seemed pale from the blood loss and was plainly unconscious; he could have been dead for all Leigh or the other chimaeras knew, but that seemed improbable given that the troops had clung to Archer as their final chance.
Tito stood to the left of the soldiers, stunned by the course of events but powerless to intervene. He could certainly take his brother away from the soldiers, but he was worried that something might go wrong and terminate his brother's life.
To Leigh's right were Owlvin and Beatrix, who had both been wounded in the leg, rendering them immobile because they both relied on their legs to perform any sort of action.
Even though Owlvin possessed the power to fly, his mind was not strong enough to force himself to do so, which is why he accompanied Beatrix down the path of being entirely worthless in that mission.
However, neither Owlvin nor Beatrix had lost consciousness, allowing them to see the terrifying strength and cold-heartedness of their new companion, Leigh. Owlvin glanced at Leigh in terror, but there was also admiration for his power and satisfaction that Leigh was not an adversary.
Beatrix on the other hand had only fear and realization in her eyes yellowish brown eyes. The scene in front of her had made her further more suspicious of Leigh and the previous scenes of the dead humans. Leigh's look at the time mirrored that of someone willing to go to any length for his personal benefit.
Leigh was too driven by rage to understand his companion's predicament. In actuality, even if he had known, not much would have changed, because Leigh had remained completely focused on the threats in front of him, which was admirable.
He was well aware of the risk that the weapons of the two troops posed to him, as well as the knowledge that Tito could have attacked at any time. Leigh had seen many frightened faces in the past at the sight of his strength, and he knew that the troops in front of him were terrified of him, but it was not the kind that would help him.
In truth, it was a fear that resembled the urge to survive far more; the troops were just terrified for their lives, which, along with their human mindset, may have led them to fire their weapons at random as a final resort for survival, similar to the bear.
Knowing that, Leigh had instead once more relied on his shadow ability to limit the vision of the soldiers. As Leigh cast the shadows, an area of 5 meters which was the maximum range of his ability became engulfed by darkness.
The purpose behind Leigh's decision to cast a wall-like shadow rather than a shadow on himself was to reduce the possibility of random shots striking him, as merely covering himself with a massive shadow that could move would have raised the possibilities of a random bullet successfully hurting him.
Leigh rushed towards the far right side of his shadow, casting more shadows of varied sizes to disguise his movements as he closed the 50-meter gap between himself and the opponent.
Strange dark walls were created one after the other in the soldiers' eyes, entirely blocking their vision of the battlefield and their enemies. The fact that the walls continued to cover a greater distance was what kept them from open firing in the hopes of hitting their target, since they simply had to shoot entire magazines to cover the now more than 20 meters of space covered by the shadows.
Leigh had wasted quite a few grains to bridge the gap, but he had no alternative due to his lack of range attacks. If only he could throw shadows beyond a 5 meter radius from his physical body.
He was barely 15 meters away from his foes when he cast the sixth shadow. Then he threw one last shadow and sprinted out of the shadows through the center of his sixth shadow. His journey was diagonal, and the soldiers' gaze had followed the end of each shade, expecting him to make a move, but they had not expected Leigh to emerge from the center of one of the shadows.
The troops tried to open fire when they saw their attacker, but they discovered their enemy's exact departing location too late, and Leigh's speed was abnormal as well, allowing him to be in front of the soldiers before they could actually take action.
As Leigh approached the soldiers, he immediately smashed his opponent's gun with the back of his hand and threw a lethal blow to his opponent's neck, killing him instantly on the spot with his cervical spine and hyoid bone crushed and out of place.
Because of the situation in front of him, the soldier who was holding Archer as a hostage had panicked and emptied his magazine by firing at Leigh. Unfortunately, none of this was useful against the monster that approached him because Leigh had used the diseased soldier's body as cover from the gunfire.
The two-meter gap was swiftly closed, and Leigh delivered a lethal blow on the soldier, who attempted but failed to use the hostage as a shield.
The results of the battle were evident, 10 dead soldiers laid on the battleground where only Leigh and the chimeras remained.
During the conflict, Tito decided not to fight alongside the soldiers because, while he was willing to sacrifice others to save his own brother, he would not only rather not murder such a person himself, but he also didn't have the capability to fight, lacking both the required skill and power.
Once the battle began, Tito's lie about a strong person became true, which surprised Tito greatly, but he still did not join the battle because he knew that if the chimaeras won, he would also get Archer back and would only have to explain and plead for forgiveness to others, which is not difficult for him, or so he assumed.
Tito had overlooked the fact that the strong chimaera he assumed was the one that had been rescued was enraged and angry. Tito had caused him to show his powers, which irritated him. Even if Leigh decides not to murder him because of this, he is still forced to kill all chimaeras on the battlefield because they witnessed too much.
As soon as the last soldier fell, Leigh turned to confront Tito, who had climbed down the tree with a worried expression on his face towards his brother but his rush to his brother's place was cut short by a hand on his throat.
Leigh had seized the short chimaera by the neck in an attempt to strangle him. By that point, Leigh had made his shadows vanish, allowing Beatrix and Owlvin to observe the current scene. They were unprepared for what happened and attempted to stop Leigh by yelling and attempts at changing the situation
Yet, nothing changed Leigh's mind and he had already crushed the chimeras neck. Blood dripped down his dark indigo body, coloring it red for a second before returning to normal.
Leigh then turned his attention towards the two remaining chimeras and proceeded to approach them.
