Chapter 4 - Student Interview: Kersay

Ozpin would close the door behind him as he finished up his interview with Lilac. Would walk down the hall, heading deeper into the academy. Only to stop right near a teenager around the age of the girl who he had just been talking with.

She had long silver hair that was kept in a ponytail which went down to just below her shoulder blades. She wore casual clothing of a plain white t-shirt with a jean jacket over it. Along with black pants.

"How long have you been standing there Miss Mahogany?" The professor would ask in a low tone before turning his gaze to the girl. "You know you are not to be seen by any of the students quite yet."

"Yes. But I wanted to see those who you were thinking of bringing into the academy to serve as my unofficial bodyguards." She would say in a low tone staring at the man before her with a slight look of contempt. "And I just wanted to get a good look before having to act like a clueless girl around them."

"I know the situation was never the best for you growing up having to be hidden and everything. But you need to play it safe just a little longer before you can act like a normal person for a while. Remember, this is all for your safety so that you don't get taken away by any unsavory fellows." Ozpin would say in a low tone before giving her a smile. "But worry not. I think you are going to like your new friends, whether they be on your team or not."

"If you say so Profesor, being special is something that has been more of a detriment to my life than being actually special." She would say letting out a low sigh before rubbing the back of her head.

"I know, and I'm truly sorry that things have been going that way. But now that the new school year will be starting. Things shouldn't be that bad for you moving forward." He would say giving the girl a hopeful smile. "You just have to get along with your team this time around, okay?"

"I will try profesor, I just don't know how well it will go with first impressions." She would say in a low tone practically doubting herself.

"As long as those first impressions don't lead into a fight. You are going to be fine, Kersay. Just gotta trust yourself more than you do." Ozpin would say placing a gentle hand on her shoulder.

"Yeah…Guess I should try and just be friendly towards them. Maybe it won't turn out like last time that we tried this. With me almost being kidnapped and everything." Kersay would chuckle, giving a small smile to Ozpin.

It hurt the Professor to know how lonely this poor girl felt. Especially when she was one of the unlucky few to be randomly chosen by the gift that she now held. But he would keep the promise that he made to her so long ago. He would help her live as normal of a life as possible. Even if it killed others to do so.

"You need to go get some rest for your big day, Kersay. I will see you later." The professor would say, giving her a small smile.

The girl would nod slowly before starting to walk down the hall past some of the interview rooms, and towards the main courtyard. Where she would see two future students. A boy, and a girl. Seeing them talk, and seeing that they were friends of some sort.

At least that was what it seemed like before the boy dunked the girl into a fountain. Obviously being annoyed with whatever she had been saying to him.

Frowning. Kersay would make her way over to the two with the urge to teach the boy a lesson. Only to stop once she heard the laughter coming from the girl who was sitting completely soaked in the fountain.

"Are you okay?" She would ask the girl, gaining the attention of both of them. Which obviously put the boy on edge, as if he were ready for a fight to go down at any moment.

"Yeah. I'm fine. Just this big lug not knowing how to take good news of his wonderful sponsor making it into the academy alongside him." The girl would say, pointing a taunting smirk in the direction of the boy.

"So he slammed you into the fountain?" Kersay would question.

"Correction. She was trying to blackmail me into buying her dinner. Which is why I dunked her." The boy would say in an aggravated tone pointing a glare in the girl's direction. The look in his eyes was enough to shake her to the core. But for the girl in the fountain. She just laughed even harder.

"You two are so weird…" She would mutter to the two rubbing the bridge of her nose.

"It is part of my charm." The girl in the fountain would smile, sticking her tongue out to the boy. Who instinctively went for a weapon. Only to realize that he didn't have one only to let out a sigh. Before starting to walk off.

"Are you in an abusive relationship with that guy?" Kersay would ask worried for the girl before her.

"Nope. We are just friends. Just trying to teach the negative nancy how to enjoy peace and not beating up strangers thinking they are assassins." The girl would say, smiling some. "He is actually pretty nice once you get to know him."

"Well I hope he gets better for your safety." Kersay would say fully doubting the girls safety.

"Well he has stopped stabbing me almost every two hours so there is progress being made." She would say getting out of the fountain and stretching. "I'll see you on the first day of school. I have to go catch up to him before he gets some poor kid falling off the edge of the air dock."

Kersay would blink hearing about the horror of what that boy was possibly capable of. Only to have the girl run off before she could protest.

What kind of students was the Professor letting into the academy this year? She was surely going to find out one way or another.
