Entering their new temporary abode. Loki would begin looking through the it seeing if there was everything that they needed to worry about. And luckily enough for them, it was clear enough. At least to Loki's standards.
"Are you sure you're okay sleeping on the floor?" Lilac would ask once he was sure everything was safe. He had done this the first time she let him into her apartment. And when she had asked about it, his answer was simply making sure he knew where all the exits were. But there was definitely something deeper about it, yet it wasn't her place to dig deeper into it.
"As I've said before. The floor is much more comfortable to me than sleeping in a tree. Don't worry I won't complain. We still have enough daylight left if you want to do anymore preparation for the academy." Loki would say grabbing a spare blanket and laying it out on the floor. As a cushion.
"You know I might just do that, I'm pretty sure there's still some student discounts at the store. I could get me some more make-up" She would say thoughtfully. Seriously thinking on going through with Loki's suggestion.
"I'm not going to stop you if you want to go. Since I tend to get you in trouble each time we spend quite a bit of time together. And speaking of which, you should probably change your clothes since you're still soaked." Loki would say pointing out that Lilac was still indeed in her wet clothes.
"Right, I should probably change. Almost forgot about that" She'd chuckle grabbing a change of clothes and heading to the bathroom.
To Loki, she seemed to be taking this much better than he thought she would. Considering everything that's happened so far, he would've thought she would have kicked him to the curb; And yet here she was, allowing him to continue to stay with her. As if he hadn't been to blame for their eviction. In all honesty, he truly thought she was weird. Or just a few marbles short of sane.
Walking out of the Motel from hell. Carter would glance about realizing that he was in a rather down in the dumps. But that was to be expected as everywhere in the world tended to have places that were well past their prime, or slums.
Taking a deep breath, he began to make his way down the street. Increasing the distance between him, and the two certifiably insane people he recently met. There was something about the male, Loki was his name? Lion? Whatever his name was. There was something sinister about him.
Rounding a street corner, Carter would freeze as he saw a girl around his age, struggling against three men. Full grown adults, who obviously had a great deal of training with the fact that they were doing kung-fu and kicking her ass.
A wave of panic shot through him, and the only thing he could think to do. Well, was be a hero. Against well trained Ninja's.
Manifesting a card into his hand Carter would flick a card at the one closest to him. Before appearing in the cards place. Landing a flying spear kick on the mans back. Sending him stumbling into his cohort. Reaching behind his back he would pull out a collapsible staff. Pressing the button it would extend to it's full length at five foot long.
Spinning it around he'd thrust it into the next one who was quickly over the surprise attack. Only to be parried by the man. Spinning around Carter would hit him with the back end of the staff, a cocky grin playing on his lips.
"Is that all you creeps got?" Carter would say spinning the staff around watching as the three men adjusted themselves to surround him, and the girl.
Letting out a relieved breath. Kersay would give a thankful nod to Carter her thanks. If he hadn't shown when he did there was no telling what would've happened to her.
She had also known better than to leave home without her gear, but as her usual frequent bad luck liked to show her that now matter how safe she seemed. It never tended to last at all.
"You should back off kid if you know what's best for you." The man right behind Kersay said with a twisted french lilt. "Your life will be easier off if you do."
"And let you kidnap her? No way in hell." Carter would say taking a stance readying himself to fight the three of them.
And within a matter of seconds, the bravado that Carter felt was quickly beat out of his system as one of the men was on him quicker than a grimm attacking a village.
Pulling on her shoes. Lilac would pause for a moment to look at Loki. Who laid on the floor with his eyes closed. His chest rising and falling in a slow methodical rhythm. It made him look almost normal when he was like this. And something about it drew her in, yet she couldn't pinpoint why. Maybe it was just the fact that she got to see such a rare sight from him. That most people didn't tend to see. The part of him that was calm and collected. The part of him that didn't need to hide from the world.
Letting out a content sigh. She would stand from the bed and begin to make her way over to the door. Right as she placed her hand on the door. A furious wave of pounding knocks assaulted the wooden door. Which succeeded in waking the once calm Loki. Who rolled to his feet with his revolver aimed at the door. Giving Lilac a nod to proceed to answer the door.
Gulping. She would open the door slowly only to pause at the sight of Carter beaten and bloody standing there barely managing to hold himself up.
"I... couldn't stop them...they took a girl..." He would barely manage before his eyes rolled up to the back of his head and he lost all consciousness. Falling into Lilacs arms, who barely managed to brace herself for Carter's weight.
A wave of horror washed over her as she looked to Loki who narrowed his gaze on the teenager.
"What do we do Loki?" She would ask her voice laces with worry.
"We tend to his injuries. And find out what the hell is going on." Loki would say holstering his gun reaching into his bag and digging his weapons out. He was preparing for a hunt. Something he never thought he would do in a city.
