To my surprise, the teacher that walked in was Madam Reena. I thought of her as a receptionist, but it looks like she's more than that.
Her soft voice echoed throughout the classroom. "Good morning!"
I'm sure my jaw muscles formed a smile on my face.
She adjusted her round glasses that covered the big blue eyes and changed her demeanor into that of a teacher. She had her long hair up in a ponytail, and as she walked, it would flutter left and right.
She stood by the side of her desk and looked at us. Every time she would adjust her glasses, a clickity sound left an imprint in our ears. "How about we get to know each other?"
She looked at me and said. "I'll go first…"
She walked in front of us, put her hands on her chest, and smiled. "You can call me Madam Reena. I'm twenty-two years old and my power is… well, you all felt it when you walked inside the Academy"
When we walked… That membrane thing? As I thought about it and tried to figure it out, she coughed to get my attention and urged me to introduce myself with a swift motion of her slender hand.
"Uhm… Well, I'm…"
She coughed once again. "Stand up!"
Damn it. That's embarrassing. Here it goes. I felt my face getting hotter. "I'm Rikeron, seventeen years old and I'm not sure how to call my power"
As soon as I finished, before I even sat down, someone jumped up. "My name is Rollen, sixteen years old and I don't like that person…"
Huh? He pointed at me. He doesn't even know me, and he pointed at me. What's up with you, dude?
As he was about to sit down, he forced his body to stay up and leaned like a willow tree. As he fidgeted to stay upright, he uttered. "Oh, yeah, and I don't have any powers…"
Alright, so that's the issue. Don't worry, man, I'm not like them.
The others introduced themselves as well, but I focused on Rollen and the despise he felt towards me.
It's an emotion I could understand with all my being. Before I got this power, I got bullied constantly. Whenever we tried to inform parents and teachers, they threw us away like garbage instead of protecting us.
They were the Heroes, the future of humanity, and they couldn't go against them or their superhero parents.
I can try to recruit him, but not before I have more information. The last person who seemed trustworthy stabbed me in the back.
The class went on at a rather fast pace. Before I knew it, people were getting out of the chairs and headed for the door.
Madam Reena remained in her seat and watched the students leave with a smile painted on her face.
She let her fiery red hair down and put her glasses away. She stood up and approached me. Once she got close enough, her perfume invaded my nostrils and brought an unparalleled euphoria to my brain.
She leaned close to my ear. She bent her waist like a snake, which boiled my blood to the point I could feel my cheeks redden. With her soft voice, she whispered. "Don't worry too much about the things Rollen said. He had some troubles before…"
I shook my head and pulled back to face her. Our noses almost touched. I smiled at her, making her blush. "I'm not worried Madam Reena and I understand what he went through, but thank you for caring!"
She retracted her snake-like form and stood up. After neatly fixing her hair and clothes, she walked towards the door. She stood by the door where a single step to either direction would be the classroom or the corridor. "The Principal asked to meet you tonight after dinner. Come to the reception desk"
I didn't get the chance to respond, and she left.
In this first lesson in my new class, I wanted to gauge the other students and decide how to proceed, but that guy Rollen kept popping up in mind. I've been in his situation and I hated every part.
Being powerless in a world filled with superheroes is like asking to be bullied.
That letter said I can give powers to other people if we have a bond. I'll chat him up and if he proves to be trustworthy, I'll try it on him. But then again, how does one create a bond with a person they don't like?
My evening class is Arena which I'm not allowed to take part in, but I should probably attend. The last time didn't work out so well when I skipped it.
After lunch, I went to my room and studied the contents of the letter. There was still some time before the Arena class, so I tried to come up with a plan and casually approach that person.
No matter what I came up with was utter crap. All my attempts seemed arrogant and shady. It's not so easy to form a bond with someone, especially when I never was a part of one, to begin with. My friends and I were victims in the same situation, but we never bonded.
I will leave it to fate to take its course without rushing it and left the room. I followed the same path to the yard where the stage is at and found a nice bench, away from the others.
Not a good way to bond, but who cares. I'm attending a class so it's ok to sit by my lonesome.
The same person taught the class, and the same rules applied. Defeat your opponent without killing them. It's a wonderful opportunity to observe them without drawing suspicion if I stared for too long.
The first match started, but my attention shifted to a group of people next to me. Their yelling and laughing were anything but conservative.
That familiar burly man I met in the cafeteria stood like a mountain in front of a nearby bench, and his buddies surrounded it.
I can't stand it. "Shut up and go away Gorilla!"
