In the middle of the schoolyard, Lucina Nozack came face to face with the person she wanted to kill. Or at least, that's what she thought.
Rollen's plan the previous night was for me to disguise as Jax and copy his powers. Meet with Lucina and resolve the situation. Of course, for it to work, Jax needed to be in proximity for the Imprint to be in effect.
Jax avoided doing something like this because he was adamant about not fighting with her. I didn't care that much about that. For starters, the Principal forbidden me to fight. Still! After everything. I'll scold that old fart later about it.
As I stood in front of her, Lucina's golden hair fluttered like dancers that went with the flow. She wore a grin on her face and didn't put me in her eyes. Talk about spoiled.
The second part of Rollen's plan appeared to be the most crucial one. After tiring her out, we had to make them reconcile for the sake of their families and the world.
I wanted to help a friend but yeah, sure, let's save the world along the way.
With his shape-shifting power and my smoke, I stood equipped in front of this girl.
She said nothing and kept staring at me. We remained motionless for a while.
A sigh escaped her mouth as soon as tears fell on her green dress. "Why?"
That's all she said before she turned around and walked away.
I grabbed her hand and apologized. Lumina warned us about this. A woman's intuition is indeed a fearful thing.
I removed the hood that covered my face and returned to my body and face. "I'm sorry. He doesn't want to fight you and he doesn't want to die either!"
The girl wiped her tears and looked at me, somewhat confused. "What are you talking about? Why would he die?"
Alright, this is strange. She has no reason to lie about it. "Don't you want to kill him, so the marriage doesn't go through?"
Her blue eyes widened when she heard my words. She covered her mouth with her slender hand and shook her head. "Of course not! What I want pales compared to the wellbeing of our families!"
Something doesn't feel right. We better go back. "Once again, I invite you to my room"
Just to intimidate her for a bit. I let my black smoke out and intentionally upped the surrounding pressure. "You should come!"
The girl flinched and lowered her head. She followed me back to my room, whereas the others kept a relatively small distance, watching her.
I reached out to the handle of the door and a hand grabbed mine. As I looked up, Lumina's eyes shot daggers at my skull. "I'm coming too!"
She released my hand, and I took a step back, allowing her to go in first.
Lucina looked at me, wondering what to do. I urged her to go ahead. "After you!"
It didn't take long for the others to walk in. The last one who came was none other than Jax. He still had his reservations, though, and he didn't get closer. He remained in his corner.
My room didn't exactly have a table and chairs, so we made do with what we had. Lumina sat on my chair, where my desk was, whereas Lucina and Rollen sat on the bed. I leaned my back against the window.
I really need to get some chairs if this keeps happening.
Silence overwhelmed the room. Rollen kept looking at Lucina and Jax, not sure what to do. Lumina glared at me from time to time and the other two didn't know where to look.
Nothing will happen if I don't get them talking. I turned to the young man in the corner with glowing green eyes. "Jax, you told me she was trying to kill you!"
Lucina Nozack jumped from her seat. "That's absurd!"
Jax got up and clenched his fists. "Not really…"
He walked closer. "A couple of weeks back, a guy jumped me out of nowhere!"
Jax pointed at the girl, who genuinely looked surprised. "His exact words were; Lady Lucina sends her regards!"
He looked at me, and with a trembling voice, uttered. "I barely escaped without getting killed, and that was the night I came here!"
He turned back to the girl. "Imagine my surprise that the place I thought was safe, you were here to finish the job!"
The girl protested. "I had nothing to do with it. I only came here because my parents asked me to!"
She walked closer, and I got in front of her. I still don't know what's happening so we better not take any chances. She respected that and returned to her seat.
"I thought, that since we were engaged, I should see what you were like and learn about you. With our families being what they are and our history, we didn't really have the chance to talk!"
Jax put his hand on my shoulder as if he told me to step back, which I did. He walked closer and kneeled in front of her.
He removed his scowl and revealed his face. Crimson hair popped up. I glimpsed it before when he showed me his power, but he shifted too fast.
He grabbed her hand. "If you are being honest, I'm willing to trust you..."
The girl, flustered, pulled her hand back. "I'm not lying!"
Alright, this looks fine, but still… 'Someone tried to kill Jax!"
It's not over yet. "I'm happy you guys came to an agreement, but the fact, that he was attacked remains. Who was it?"
Jax and Lucina looked at each other and shrugged their shoulders.
"Fine… I'll borrow Rollen's plan then!"
I focused for a few seconds until I could hear them gasping. 'I guess it worked!"
"Man, your power is something else!"
I looked at Jax, who said that, and laughed. "You are the one to talk!"
Lucina stared without saying a word. In front of her stood two of the same person. It took a few to recover. "What are you planning?"
Good question. Lumina, please don't kill me. I looked at the lost girl and chuckled to lighten the mood. "I'll be the bait!"
