*BEEP* *BEEP* *BEEP*
An annoying sound filled the room as an alarm started to fill the whole room to wake the only occupant residing within. It was just like any other morning when Melvin rolled over to silence his annoyingly loud alarm.
"Alright, alright I'm up, Brian please silence the alarm." Melvin said in a very groggy manner. Melvin Rubrum Sanguis, considered by many to be very handsome, standing close to 2 meters tall and like most of those born in the Sanguis family has a decent physique from his combat training. His short wavy Black hair pressed to his head from rolling about in his sleep.
"Good morning master Melvin." replied to his electronic assistant Brian. In an instant the alarm stopped and the curtains drew back from the window allowing light to pass into the room.
"We wouldn't want you to be late on the first day would we?" Brian asked.
Getting out of bed Melvin sauntered over to his closet to grab his clothes. It was a very spacious room with multiple racks to hold all different types of apparel ranging from sports wear to very expensive looking suits. Looking around at his clothing options Melvin grabbed an expensive looking black silk suit and a brand new pair of dress shoes.
"Please remember to be extra careful on your way to your new job today." Brian said, exclaiming his joy to Melvin. However Brian wasn't particularly worried about Melvin, but about the suit he had chosen to wear on his way to work today.
After dressing adequately he grabbed his suit case, however this particular suit case wasn't like any old briefcase this briefcase was a bit bigger than one that would hold papers or office supplies. It was a special briefcase given to those in a particular line of work. It was a Black briefcase with a very intricate blood red outline.
"Alright, let's see how this goes." Melvin said, trying to mentally prepare him self for a very bad experience. The idea of his new profession was a very intimidating thing to him.
"You should be fine master Melvin. After all you are from the Sanguis family." Brian said very proudly.
"Your right Brian, I shouldn't worry to much." Melvin replied, with a slight hint of confidence in his words. After leaving his room Melvin heard someone shouting at him. He chose to ignore this however simply because he knew who it was.
A few seconds later streaks of blue light could be seen coming right at him. He wasn't scared though, because as soon as the streaks reached him a girl was standing right in front of him. Her expression was one of aggravation, "Didn't you hear me calling you?!" asked the girl with an angry look on her face.
"Yes Lydia, I did and I chose to ignore you." Melvin replied, not even taking the time to look at her while walking to the voyer. Lydia Caeruleum is a small girl with a very slim build and is a little over a meter tall with straight Auburn hair that goes to her waist.
"Then why didn't you say anything?!" She said, practically shouting into his ear as they continued to move closer to the front door.
"How did you even get in here?" Melvin asked, looking at the door which was still locked. Then looking back at her waiting for a answer.
"Do you really have to ask a question that stupid." Lydia said back, annoyed that he had to ask when it was obvious. She held up here hand and it started to vibrate at a ridiculously high speed.
Melvins eyes widened at the fact that he forgot his bet friends power. "Aw crap, I'm sorry I totally forgot about that." he said to her.
"What?!?! Didn't you just see me run towards you?" Lydia asked, shouting at him very confused.
"No, I was kinda preoccupied with something else at the moment." he replied, holding up his briefcase.
"Is that what I think it is?" Lydia said, awestruck with sparkles in her eyes.
"Yes it is, but I still don't know how to use it yet." he said, with a defeated look on his face.
"Well don't sweat it you still have your powers right." she said, with a smile that quickly faded his reply.
"No, I haven't developed my powers yet." the look on his face was one of sadness. This is because at sixteen most people have already developed the powers and were trained on how to use them, however at the age of eighteen Melvin still didn't have his.
On the other hand it wasn't to rare to be born unable to develop a power. That's why prominent families would teach their children how to defend themselves. "Well that's okay you still have me." Lydia stated, with a huge smile on her face.
"Your right, now lets go to work." Melvin said, with a smile on his face. Although she couldn't see it Lydia heard the sadness in his voice.
After leaving Melvin's house using Lydia's insane speed they made their way to the city. Turning this way and that, weaving through the bustling streets towards a giant building near the center of the City.
Once they arrived they made their way to a building taller than the rest. Once they arrived Lydia stopped running and let Melvin go. An older gentleman, observing their arrival, commented, "The MCG—that's a great place to work if you've got the talent."
