(Jace's Pov)
After she kissed me on the cheek, she left the room, I was so shocked I did not expect her to kiss me on the cheek. I have never been this speechless when it comes to girls. No girl has gotten me like this, she is so much different from the others. I made my way to my room and I laid on my bed. While I was lying in bed, I couldn't get my Clary off of my mind. She was so beautiful, with her red fiery hair and her emerald green eyes. She's special, she is not at all what I thought she would be like. For being the daughter of Valentine and sister of Jonathan, I thought she would be more like Valentine and Jonathan. But she is the complete opposite, she is nothing like them. She is sweet, compassionate, generous, kind and nowhere close to being a monster. After a while of thinking about Clary I finally fell asleep.
(Clary's Pov)
The room was pitch black, I started wondering, I was completely lost, having no idea where I was going. I feel like each breath is my last, my hands are shaking and I can't breathe. Then they appeared, I saw Valentine and Jonathan both in front of me. Then they kept on getting closer and closer. I started backing up until I hit something hard, I turned around to see Jonathan, he then quickly wrapped his hand around my neck. I could feel myself losing air as I screamed the more, he choked me. I thrived around and blinked rapidly, trying to get myself to wake up. The darkness surrounding me was an endless void as it surrounded my vision and overtook my senses. I feel seething pain in my chest as the area around me only faded. It felt so real, everything, the pain, the fear, the dread. I let out one last painful scream as my vision went dark. I feel myself getting shaken to wake up.
"Clary-Clary wakes up, it's just a nightmare." Jace says while he's still shaking me. I opened my eyes to see a shirtless Jace standing right next to the bed.
"What-what are you doing here?" I was a little confused.
"I heard you screaming, are you ok?" Jace says while moving closer to the bed to sit down.
"Yeah I'm fine, I just had a nightmare of me getting attacked by Jonathan and Valentine." I said while looking down. I started to feel Jace move closer and then I felt his hand on mine. I looked up to see him staring at me.
"It's okay Clary, you're safe now, you're here with me, I won't let you get hurt again. " He said smiling at me.
"Thank you so much, I'm sorry I woke you up." I said, squeezing his hand.
"It's okay, I was awake anyway." Jace says starting to walk away.
"Wait, can you stay with me?" I said shyly.
"Yeah of course." Jace said while coming to lay down with me. Once he's in the bed, he puts his arm up and around me, I laid my head on his chest. We both started talking until we both fell asleep. The next morning, I woke up still on his chest. While I wait for him to wake up, I start thinking about him. He is so nice, sweet, and hot, but he's the kindest guy I have met. After a few hours of thinking about him I feel him move. I closed my eyes so he would think I'm still asleep.
"Good morning, did you sleep well?" Jace said, giving me a kissing on my head. Right as he did that I blushed. God, what has he done to me, I used to never be this sensitive. The only good thing that came out of growing up with Valentine and Jonathan was that I became strong, was not sensitive at all. But within days, I have hung out with Jace. He changed me for the better.
"Good morning, I did sleep well thanks to you, no nightmares." I said looking up at him smiling.
"Hey, I was thinking I should go back to my house to get some of my stuff." I said, biting my lip worried what he'll say.
"No way you're going alone, I'm coming with you." Jace says pulling me closer to him.
"Come on, let's get ready." I said sitting up. We got up to get ready.
When we were done, we made our way to my house. On the way there I started to freak out, my whole body shaking, afraid of what Valentine would do to me when I got there. Once we got there Jace told me he'll wait outside. I went inside the house and Valentine was nowhere to be seen. I quickly went into my room and I grabbed my clothes, and some of my art supplies. I ran out of my room with the bag and right when I was about to walk down the stairs, I felt someone push me down. While I fell down the stairs, I started screaming. I got up and I grabbed my knife and threw it at him, it landed on his shoulder. He just looks at me and laughs, he then makes his way towards me. He grabs his bow and shoots an arrow into my shoulder. As I feel the arrow pierce my shoulder I scream as loud as I can.
"JACE HELP!" I yell as loud as I can for Jace hoping he hears me. As soon as I yelled Jace came in right away. As soon as Valentine saw Jace he dashed to me holding a knife to my neck.
"Let go of her!" Jace said angrily, pulling out his seraph blade, getting into his combat stance. I just then remembered that I had a seraph dagger in my boot. I gave Jace a look to distract Valentine. I pulled my boot up while Jace and Valentine were talking.
"What do you think you're doing with my daughter?" Valentine said, tightening his grip against my throat.
"I'm saving her from you and your bastard son!" Jace said, getting closer. I show Jace that I have the dagger in my hand, I then take my dagger and stab him in the leg. He lets go of me yelling in pain, I take my bag and steal Valentine's stele. He finally takes the dagger out of his leg and starts coming for me. Jace then held his hand out for me to take and we ran out of there. Once we got out of there I looked down and I saw our hands still connected and that made me smile.
"Hey, can I show you something?" I asked, looking up at him. As I wait for him to answer I start thinking about how bad my life has been up until I met Jace.
"Yeah, sure, where are we going?" He stopped right in front of me.
"You will see." I said, grabbing his hand, leading him to the motorcycle and got on.
"Wait, where did you get this?" He asked while getting on behind me.
"This was my dad's. I took it from him, he did not know he would actually kill me." I said while giving him a smirk.
"Well, let's go then." He said, smiling back at me. I turned on the bike and took off. As soon as we started moving, I felt his hands snake around my waist, tightening his grip on me. I accelerated the gas and went faster, the faster I went the tightened he held on to me. After a while, we finally arrived at the destination.
We were in a park with a long path, tree branches hanging over us as we made our way to the beautiful fountain at the end of the path. He looks at me with an astonishing look.
"Wow this is beautiful! Where did you find this place?" He spoke. I looked away with my hesitation being very clear. I thought of a lie, multiple actually. So many different scenarios rushed through my head as I suppressed the very real and traumatizing experience that led to me finding that place that night
"Oh, um well it was a rainy night and I-" I stopped, the words still lingering on the tip of my tongue. I wanted to come clean so badly, but my body was refusing.
"Hey - hey you don't have to tell me if you're not ready." Jace said while disconnecting his hands with mine and putting them on my face.
I looked into his eyes and I could feel myself falling for him. For a second I see a tint of love in his eyes. I shifted my eyes from eyes to his lips and back to his eyes before he could catch me. I slowly leaned in, stopping a bit to see if he would move. I finally closed the space between us and pressed my lips against his. It started off slow but started to heat up again. After what seems like forever I pulled away and gave him a smile. I was about to walk away, when he pulled me back to him and pulled me back in for another kiss. I wasn't expecting it so it took me a while to kiss back. I feel his tongue enter my mouth the deeper we get into the kiss. When we pulled away, I was out of breath. I back up a bit and go sit down by a tree, blushing.
"J-Jace I need to tell you something." I said I was afraid of what he would think. He made his way over to me, sitting down next to me.
"What's wrong?" He placed his hand on mine. I looked down as I bit my lip in anticipation.
"That was my first kiss." I said, looking up at him. Instead of him answering I feel him put his hand on my cheek, bringing me closer, kissing me once more. Then he finally said something.
"That won't change the way I feel about you; you were never ready and that's okay." He smiles at me, kissing my cheek. After a few hours of us hanging out, we decided to leave. We got on the bike and I drove us back to the institute.
