Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Cooper Cameron

Every day was a haze for Cooper Cameron.

When he was just 2 years old his mom overdosed on heroin, leaving Cooper with his father. Not even a year later, His dad did all he went to prison for selling drugs and taking drugs.

Having no family to go to, Cooper was left in a poorly maintained orphanage. They would ignore the kids and left the older orphans take care of them.

Cooper began to notice a odd thing. Whenever he touched others, either from bumping into someone or a game of tag, he would see memories and suddenly gained new skills at a fast rate.

By the time Cooper turned 6, he was reading at a high level and would speak better than most adults.

He became increasingly smarter at every encounter with an adult.

But when it came to children it was much different.

Cooper would see their saddest memories. He later realized he could help them cope with the bad memories by giving them a good one instead.

A few months passed and Cooper got adopted by an strange couple.

He couldn't figure out why they were strange. But when the woman grabbed his hand while putting him in the car.

Instead of gaining new skills, he saw horrible memories through the eyes of the woman.

Although it took a minute to process, he knew why they adopted him.

They were going to sell him in exchange for drugs and extra cash.

After many attempts of getting out of the car, the man got tired, took a big flashlight out of his car door and hit Cooper over the head, knocking him out.

When he woke up he was in a sterile white room. The place they sold him to was built for inhuman experiments.

For years they raised Cooper in that lab. They would perform various procedures on him, testing random liquids and getting poked and prodded at for the 8 years.

During that time, Coopers skin became scarred and bruised. A metal plate was drilled into his skull giving him headaches and pains. One year, they found out about his ability. They wore protective gear anytime they entered the room to prevent

any type of contact with Cooper.

One night, they put a sleeping drug into his food, wanting to do more tests on him. But the drug didn't last long, and when Cooper awoke he grabbed onto one of the scientists doing their experiments on him.

He gained the knowledge on why they were testing him, and found out there were others at one point, but all of them died, except for Cooper. He could hear the screams and cries of the other children ringing in his head.

Scrunching up his face and holding his ears, Cooper screamed out as almost clear waves echoed the room.

The scientist he grabbed let him go and held onto his head. He screamed out in pain as blood poured out of ears. His head pounded as the scream continued eventually killing the mans life.

After the voices stopped, Cooper looked to see the dead man on the floor. Shaking, He poked the man and saw no signs of life.

Suddenly Cooper had an idea. He could finally escape. Grabbing the mans ID card Cooper swiped the key into the door and snuck out as best he could. The hall was dark with little lights at the corners. Looking left and right he didn't know which way to go.

Trusting his gut, Cooper went left. As soon as he rounded the corner alarms blared and lights flashed. Jumping up he began running down the halls trying to find any door to the outside.

Thankfully he spotted a exit sign pointing to a way out. Following the arrows he bursted out the doors and was met with chilled air and leafs covering the ground.

As a guard turned to look at him, Cooper sprung into action and tackled a guard and gaining a new ability on how to shoot a gun.

Taking the gun the guard had on him, he also took the mans jacket, hat and pants. The jacket was nice, but the pants were a little big on him. Cooper also decided to take his boots.

Walking around the building he saw the gate where he could leave. He spotted a few guard coming his way and he looked down and walked as normal as possible.

"Hey Paul, headin' home?" The guard asked Cooper.

Nodding his head he tipped his hat.

"We'll be safe out there, your lucky we gotta look for that freak that escaped." The man continued patting his shoulder and walking on.

Cooper winced a bit when he walked away but breathed out a sigh of relief.

Using the scientists ID card he opened the gate and walked our far enough that they couldn't see him.

Sprinting he ran through the woods coming up on a hill to city lights. Cooper didn't know where he was or where we was going, but al he knew it was going to be a much better than the hell of a place he was in...
