On the other side of the city, Cooper was roaming the city alleyways, in hopes to find some leftover food from one of the restaurants. While digging in a dumpster the sound of a stack of boxes fell behind Cooper. Jumping up he quickly looked behind him to see the dark of the alley.
"Hello?" he asks as a pair of red glowing eyes made their appearance. He could hear the eyes giggle and flip right-side up. "What are you? Show your self" Cooper stammered. Stepping into the light he saw pale skin, dark horns, and bat-like wings c follow the figure.
"What are you doing?" She asked stepping closer. Cooper realized the figure was a demoness. Cowering behind his hands he called out
"Please don't take my soul!" He shook falling on the floor. The demoness looked at Cooper with saddened eyes. Kneeling to him she grabbed his hand and held them.
"Wait, don't!" Cooper said but it was too late. Ming watches the boy grow horns and wings. She gasped looking at him. "Are you like me?" she asked hopefully. Shaking his head, he explained to the girl about his 'power' he was so shaken up it hurt her heart
"You can relax, there is no need to be frightened." She spoke softly looking up his bright green eyes met her scarlet ones. They were filled with tears. She smiled and got him to his feet. "Let's start over, I'm Ming Xi," She said holding out her hand. Hesitantly his hand engulfed hers shaking it slightly.
"I'm Cooper Cameron." He replied looking at the details on her face. She had a small dimple on her left cheek and a toothy smile. Without him realizing she was doing the same. Cooper had various scarring across his neck, and face. Looking like he'd been beaten and tortured. 'Like a broken stallion with no spirit.' Ming thought.
a loud grumble of Cooper's stomach broke the pair's trance on each other. Ming let out a small laugh.
"Let's get you some food big guy," She said patting his stomach and grabbed his hand pulling him out of the alley and down a darkened street. He watched her demon self turn into a normal human. Looking back her eyes turn into dark brown orbs. Trying to concentrate his new demon-like qualities disappeared but he could feel them but no see them. "Phantom horns and wings. you'll get used to it."
"Just this way, my brother and I are meeting at a diner" She explained entering the 50's style themed diner. Taking one of the red leather booths in the corner a waitress came by.
"Welcome to Dixies Diner, just two?" She asked in her Bostonian accent handing them menus
"No, we're waiting for one more" Ming replied looking over the various food items. She smiled and left one more menu before asking one last question.
"Anything to drink while ya wait?" She asked holding out her notepad. "Do you have green tea?" Ming asked watching her nod. "I'll take a cup of green tea, Cooper?" Ming finished looking at the nervous boy.
"I-I'll have some water." He replied looking down at the menu. Taking it down she nodded. "I'll be right back," The waitress said walking off. Hearing the door open, the pair turned to see a tall lanky figure coming in with a long black coat and dark sunglasses, and a white cane.
Cooper's heart dropped. Was it an agent from the facility? was this all a trap to get him back to that horrible place?
"Deamon!" Ming called out as Coopers' heart slowed down a bit. She got up and hugged the stoic figure as he gave a soft smile.
"Nice to see you too Ming" he spoke letting her take his hand and guiding them to sit across from the pair.
'Is he blind?' Cooper thought.
Without saying another word the waitress came back with their drinks and took Deamons drink order. Deamon sighed. "Ming, what have your brought me now?" he asked a little annoyed. Cooper looked stunned, did he notice his presence? "This is Cooper, he needed a hot meal and I thought he could tag along" Ming explained.
After talking for a while Cooper found out that Deamons 'blindness wasn't real' he had a curse that could kill people with a simple look. Cooper kept his hands to himself the whole meal. Looking out at the city lights Cooper saw a familiar face. He went pale and tapped Mings arm frantically.
"Cooper whats wro-" she started to say but saw his pale face. Looking out the window a man was looking straight at him.
"It's one of the scientists, he was the worst one," Cooper said as he put his hands on his head breathing heavily. "Calm down, I'll go pay and we can escape" Deamon said getting up, grabbing his cane, and headed the register. "Do you still feel your horns and wings?" Ming whispered. Nodding they got out of the booth and they all slowly walked out of the diner. Ming was hooked on his arm put her head on his arm and walked normally.
'Honestly, her presence helps a lot' Cooper thought as she guided them onto the new barren docks. Hearing a group of footsteps Cooper stiffened again. The trio turned around to see a group of dark-dressed men and women.
"Cooper, we've been looking for you everywhere." He said holding his hand behind his back. "Playtimes over, time to come back home," he said holding out one hand. Mings's hand gripped his arm a little tighter.
"He isn't coming with you" Deamon spat. The group began laughing,
"And whos gonna stop me?" He sneered. Looking around Cooper felt Mings' nails grow into claws and her eyes burned bright.
"NO!" Cooper shouted as Ming launched at the man
"I will!" she yelled but before she could land a hand on her the man shot out a tranquilizer dart in her neck. She quickly dropped to the ground.
"MING!" The boys shouted. Dropping his cane Deamon took off his glasses and began attacking the group. Coopers' rage grew as his horns and wings revealed themselves.
He watched a few men grab Ming and without thinking of her attacked them. Tearing them apart and grabbing the conscious demoness. After they all were defeated Deamon, tired was about to fall before Cooper grabbed him too. Hearing sirens Cooper took flight and scouted around a place they could hide. Further, into the harbor, an old shack was seen overgrown and abandoned. Diving into a hole on the top he set the siblings down before he, himself passed out, not seeing the 2 sets of eyes watching them....
