After Jocelyn roamed the city for a few weeks. After escaping she had been hiding out in various places in the city. Going back to the beach she noticed her horrible constructed little 'house' she made was ruined by the rising tide. Sighing Jocelyn began to find a better place to sleep for the night.
She found an abandoned boat shack in the less populated part of the cities harbor. Jocelyn took some old boat covers and fell into a restless sleep
In the middle of the night, Jocelyn woke up to a splash in the shack.
She quickly got up quietly and peered over the crate to see a girl covered in scratches as blood began pooled beneath her.
Wide-eyed Jocelyn called out softly.
"Hey, are you okay?" The girl jumped and quickly sunk back into the water.
"Wait! Don't go I just want to help you" Jocelyn says peering over the deck as the girl's head popped back up.
"Really? you're not trying to take me?" she asked hopefully.
"No, no, no, I just saw you were hurt and I know I can help," Jocelyn explained as the girl jumped up next to Jocelyn and tilted her head curiously.
"Well, I can tell you mean well, I would be happier but as you can see I'm hurting all over." She gestured over to her wounds. Jocelyn noticed the girl had a fishtail instead of legs. Not thinking much of it, she knew she had to heal her before any questions.
The girl had a long cut from her hip to her chest, thankfully not too deep. But the cut by her eye looked deep enough to leave some permanent damage. As Jocelyn went to examine her eye, the girl flinched
"I'll try to be gentle," Jocelyn assured as she nodded. Jocelyns hand glowed as she performed a quick healing spell. The cut on her torso went away, and the girl's eye was saved, but she has a long scar crossing it.
"It's healed but there is a nasty scar I cou-" Jocelyn said as she was interrupted by The girl
"It's ok, I like every scar I can gain. It shows I get stronger no matter where I get hurt" She said humbly while touching the pink skin. Jocelyn worked the other wounds and found more scars littering her back and tail.
"Well now that we have that settled, I guess introductions are in order. I'm Jocelyn Janet." She said holding out her hand. "I'm Selene, Selene Stryker, pleasure," Selene says shaking Jocelyns hand. "So I have.....questions." Jocelyn asks "ok, whatcha got?" Selene replies
Gesturing to the tail she begins her question. "What are you?" Jocelyn inquires still puzzled at the fishtail.
"Oh, well in a short version, I'm half siren and half-human...I think" Selene responds as her tail began to disappear and turns into a pair of normal human legs. Jocelyn looks stunned at the transformation. "Wow," She said seeing all the scales disappear, her hands that were once webbed turned to normal hands, and the scales by her eyes disappeared into her skin.
"Wait. you think? You mean you don't know?" Jocelyn asks puzzled
"Yea, before my parents were killed. They used to tell me stories about how my dad, saved my mother on the banks of our house's beach. After my first transformation, I kinda figured it was my mom. After all, we had no pictures of her family anywhere, and when she used to sing my father always have an odd look on his face." Selene explained ringing out her hair of sea-water and blood. Jocelyn watched the blood come out of her hair and blurted out another question.
"ok, that's a lot to take in. Last question. Why were you being followed?" Jocelyn asked, Selene was silent "Well, apparently in this day in age a 'mermaid' is a rare find. I got too close to a boat and they tried to take me and kill me" Luna said as she looked down.
"I'm sorry," said Jocelyn, patting Selene's shoulder.
"Now, what about you? How did you end up here? I know a tourist when I see one" Selene smirked looking at Jocelyn. Jocelyn pulled down the rest of her hood. Her dark hair flowed down and Selene watched Jocelyns face turn into a frown.
"I'm not exactly from here. I come from a world of death and darkness." Jocelyn began to explain. Selene turned to watch Jocelyn take a deep breath and continue her story. Jocelyn told her about her being Queen, how she watched her brother get thrown into a pit of the beasts.
"Now I'm afraid Cassius is coming for me." Jocelyn finished as Selene stood there shellshocked at all the information.
"Well, I was right." Selene began as Jocelyn looked at her stunned "You are a tourist" She finished as Jocelyn broke out a grin and gave a small laugh.
