THE GUY WHO KILLED MY BOYFRIEND
CHAPTER FOURTEEN
Dayne Jamila's POV
One week later.
"Dayne, what suits me well? Is it the black or the blue one?" CJ is now consulting me whether what shirt to wear. Guess where he is going? He will be out on a date with Chelsea!
His choices are not just focused on two shirts. All the shirts inside his closet were scattered above his bed. Seem like everything is a choice.
"The black," I answered.
"Are you sure? Take a look again."
I rolled my eyes. How can I not be so sure? It is the tenth time he is asking the same question over and over again.
"Yes, I am sure."
CJ smiled then pinched my cheeks.
"Thank you, baby! Gotta go! I have to be early."
Then he hurriedly walked out of the room.
I sighed. Maybe I should have said to CJ that the shirt doesn't suit him well. Now that he left, I am just the only one who remained in our house. My two other brothers got their schedule as well.
Oh, by the way, let me tell you that CJ is now courting Chelsea. Real quick, right?
I roam around the house. So bored! I have nothing to do here, so I have a nice idea!
I dialed Roxette's number and ask her out. Good thing, she said yes.
After an hour, we've met at the nearest shopping mall.
"Where do you want to go first?" I asked Roxette.
"Can we check the book store first?"
I nodded. An expected answer from her anyway.
I checked some books. Especially, those books that can be useful in our study.
Roxette bought a lot of books. When I say, a lot, it really means a lot!
I helped her carry out some bags that are full of books she bought.
I just wonder if we can still roam around the mall even if we are bringing these books.
"Jamila..."
"Yes?" Maybe she'll ask to go home.
"What's your gift for Dylan?" Oh, I was wrong. It's not about going home... Wait, gift? Gift for Dylan?
"Gift for what?" I curiously asked.
"Why are you the one who is always late in updates? Tomorrow is September 28." I stare at her. Waiting for what she will tell me next. Roxette looked frustrated because I am clueless about what she is trying to say.
"September twenty-eight is Dylan's Day. It's his birthday. Now, do you remember?" finally she said.
I shook my head. Might be I am absent every time Dylan's day is happening. Oh! Speaking of Dylan, how is he doing? I haven't got any news about him because truth is, I feel kinda strange towards him.
"Now, you better choose what gift will you give him," Roxette said.
"Is it really necessary?" I am planning not to go to school tomorrow.
She nodded. "AND DO NOT BE ABSENT."
I just bit my lower lip. Guilty here. I am just thinking about not getting to school for tomorrow's event.
"Alright, let us take the chance to look for a gift. Do you have any specific gift item in mind, Jamila?"
I shook my head. And I don't have any plans of giving anyway.
"How about you, Roxette? Have you bought any?"
"Yes, a book."
Like? Seriously? The book she just book a while ago, is not just for her? But for Dylan as well?
Argh! I feel pressured! I've just known about that Dylan's Day by now, but why does it seem like it is mandatory to give a gift?
"Can I just..." Argh! How to say this?
"It is up to you if you will not give a gift. But if I were you, I will give something memorable to Dylan. As we all know, you guys are becoming close nowadays, right? Just talk to your conscience, Jamila."
It left my mouth wide open. Am I talking to Roxette?
Alright then, since I was forced to talk to my conscience, I and Roxette looked for a perfect gift for Dylan.
We have searched and entered every single store but I haven't got any item.
In the end, we just choose to go home.
When I arrived home, all of my brothers were already there.
I just greeted them one by one then I went straight to my room.
I dived in my bed. Argggghh!
I've been thinking about what to give to Dylan. The gift item thingy is bothering me!
Oh, wow!
(Snap finger)
The laptop!
I searched for a perfect gift for a guy. After almost an hour of searching, I just decided to close my laptop.
I feel frustrated.
I can't find any!
CJ suddenly knocked on my door. He said that the dinner is ready and so I went down to eat with them.
"You look so problematic, baby." said my brother AJ when we started eating.
Do I? Well, maybe they could help me out.
"Hey guys, as a man, what gift do you want to receive from someone?" I asked.
"Underwear!" CJ immediately answered.
"Yes! That would be nice!" - BJ
"There's nothing wrong with underwear. But with a boxer!" - AJ
I just did a facepalm. Maybe I was wrong that I asked them.
"Are you thinking about what gift you could give to a guy?"
I just nodded.
"Oh! Who is that guy? Is that your boyfriend? We are telling you, Dayne Jamila! No boyfriend! You are not allowed to have a relationship!"
Another round of a face-palm.
"One of my classmates will be celebrating his birthday and we are required to give a gift," I explained.
"Oh, I see."
"Guys, I already finished my meal," I said as an excuse then went back again to my room.
I was about to close my door but my brother AJ stopped it. Little did I realized, he just followed me.
"Are you just alright Dayne?" he asked.
I nodded.
Then he lets me entered my room.
"Baby, if you are thinking about what to give to your classmate, just think about something that he likes the most." he seriously said.
So he followed me to help me with my problem.
"I don't know what he particularly likes," I admit it, aside from his diary, what else should he want to have?
"Then, try to create something personalized. An artwork maybe? Or a craft. You can do it, Dayne. Well I know, he is not just a plain classmate. You wouldn't look so problematic like that if he is just an ordinary guy. I have to go. Good night sweetie."
I've gotten not have the chance to explain myself. Well, I think, it is not needed. My brother knows me so well.
Argggghhh! Good luck and good night! I have only a few hours left to think about a perfect gift!
