THE GUY WHO KILLED MY BOYFRIEND
CHAPTER SIXTEEN
Dayne Jamila's POV
Tough school days just started again. For now, we have to say goodbye to parties and unnecessary events.
It is now our P.E class. We gathered at the gymnasium because our P.E teacher said he had a very important announcement.
"So class, for the coming month of October, I am glad to announce that we will be having a sports fest. Each class must represent a team for basketball and volleyball. For the badminton, they require individual players."
Some of my classmates rejoice over it, but Chelsea, Roxette, and I just remained with no reactions at all. We are not into sports, okay?
"This time, there is a twist. The ones who will be playing basketball are girls. While for the volleyball, it is the boys. So we are here in the gymnasium to start the try-out."
So our teacher explained that everyone who will pass the tryout shall be the class representative for the sports fest. Oh, well good luck. I will not pass anyway, and I don't wish to represent the class either. I don't want to be the reason why we lose.
We started to fall in line. Our goal is to shoot the ball as many as we can. I bet, no one will be counted on my shots.
Roxette got two points while Chelsea got five. Yes! They are great! For me, it is a hard-earned point so they must be happy and proud.
When my turn comes, I closed my eyes for a second. All of my classmates are cheering me up including Dylan. It such a shame if I will not score even just one point.
And so I did my first shot, and hey! the ball enters inside the ring! Somewhat unbelievable and so it made me jump. Childish as it may seem, but it is my first time to shoot a ball.
I tried another one, and to my surprise, it created another point!
My turn goes on and on. The result? An amazing twelve points! How did I do that?
"Alright Jamila, you are included as one of the class representatives for Women's Basketball. Keep practicing." our teacher said.
I felt nervous and happy at the same time. What if I failed? What if I am just good during the tryout?
"Whoaaaaaaaaa! Congratulations Jamila! Group hug!" Chelsea shouted.
When the class ended, our teacher said that those who passed the try-out shall remain for additional practice. The sports fest will about to start a few days from now so we have to practice hard.
There are twelve girl participants chosen from our class. Chelsea and Roxette didn't get the chance of passing. Our teacher said we will be having coaches who will handle us. The coaches that he is telling is happened to be our male classmates as well, and that includes Dylan.
Awkward as it may seem but felt relieved in a way because he will be one of our coaches.
Our teacher gave fifteen minutes short break before we finally begin the official practice of our team.
I decided not to go elsewhere. I just brought my phone with me then sat in the bleacher. I put my earphones on. I was about to browse for music but Dylan suddenly removed my earphone.
"Phones are not allowed during practice." he strictly said that made my eyebrow raised.
"Just to remind you, we are on a short break coach." just, how can I be so kind to Dylan if he's showing me so many faces? Like for example, yesterday, he acted strangely, like he is a nice and sweet guy, but now, he is serious and strict again.
"Are you talking to someone?" he asked.
I frowned.
"What are you talking about?" What is he saying? Why will I talk to someone, anyway?
"Never mind." Then he hurriedly took the chance to get my phone in my hand.
"Hey! Give it back to me!" I shouted. Good thing, it is just the two of us who remained inside the gymnasium.
"I will return it after the practice," he said. I was about to grab it but he easily passed it on his other hand. I tried reaching for it but since he was taller than me, I just failed. I ended up leaning on his chest.
I think it made me blush. I can smell his scent directly. Oh, Dayne Jamila! You should have been stopped your nose from doing so.
"So now looks like you want to hug me." he teased me.
I lightly punched his chest.
"Just say whenever you want to hug me. I'll be glad to do so," he added.
I just gave him a death glare.
"You must be dreaming!" I defended myself.
"Jamila...." now, he looked so serious.
I just keep staring at his face. Dylan is having a perfect face indeed.
My eyes have been captivated by his feature, I accidentally lower down my stare to his neck.
And so...
"You have a necklace?" I unintentionally asked. I just come to my senses after asking him that irrelevant question.
"Yes, you want it?"
"N-no..." But it is beautiful. I am not fond of jewelry and accessories but his necklace is one of a kind. Seems like it was been personalized. Somewhat, key as a pendant. Uhm... Is that really a key?
"Jamila look. I want to tell you something." Dylan walked closer to me and so I automatically stepped back. Little did I realize that I almost fell because I sat in a bleacher. Dylan caught me right away, the reason why I didn't fall on the ground. Why I am so careless, anyway?
"Please be careful. Don't be a magnet for troubles."
I closed my eyes. What a shame Dayne Jamila!
"Our class is supposed to compete with Shaina's class on the first game. I just hope you are ready for it. That being said, Shaina will surely do her best just to fight with you." he said.
Shaina? That crazy girl! She still owes me something! And this time, I have to win over her!
Just a few more minutes, the practice started. Dylan focused on me. And so I just focused on the ball. At least, I have to know the techniques and rules just to win this game.
Dylan, on the other hand, seems like a good and effective coach. What I expect is that he will teach me nonsense but that's the opposite of what's happening right now. I am paying attention to everything he said. And by the way how he moves. Seem magical, but just like the ball, my heart is bouncing and rejoicing with the happiness this moment is bringing me right now. Oh, geez! Why I am saying this anyway? Never mind it guys. Dylan is just a coach. A handsome coach, I think? Oh cut it!
