THE GUY WHO KILLED MY BOYFRIEND
CHAPTER EIGHTEEN
Dayne Jamila's POV
Our first game.
I tried to act as if nothing happened last night.
Dylan is currently checking if I am ready for our game.
I am not saying anything. In all honesty, I felt so nervous. It is my first time playing a game. And besides, I don't know if I can make it, they say that our opponent is a strong team.
We gathered on the side of the court. Our team is complete already. We are just waiting for the game to finally begin.
Dylan suddenly asked permission from our teacher. He said he needs to do something real quick and I was surprised because he dragged me with him.
We went to the designated room for our team. We are just the two of us here. And here we go again as if owning a world that is not meant for us.
"Why are we here?" I asked him.
"The game is about to begin. I just want you to know that I believe in you."
"D-Dylan...." Why is he saying all of these?
He suddenly held my hand and put a bracelet on it.
I was so surprised to see what he puts in here.
It is a bracelet with an ice cream pendant! It's so cute!
"I know how much you love ice cream. I just hope that this bracelet could help you win the game. Good luck Jamila." Dylan seriously said then we went inside the basketball court.
I paused for a while then smiled at Dylan.
"Thank you," I said then proceed in the middle as the announcer is already introducing us one by one.
"GOOOOOOOOO JAMILAAAA!" I heard Chelsea shouted. I smiled at her. She is sitting on the bleacher together with Roxette and my other classmates. She even created a cheering squad for me. What a supportive friend!
I hold the pendant of the bracelet that Dylan gave me. We can do it, I whispered to myself.
The game just started. And as expected, Shaina was playing on the opponent. I know she is eyeing on me but I don't give her a chance to do so. I will fight against her. Our team will fight against their team.
In all fairness, the game runs smoothly and fairly. For the first quarter, our team scored higher than the opponent.
Before the second game, our head coach quickly discussed the strategy that we will be doing.
And back to the ball game.
Several minutes passed by then one of my teammates gave me the ball.
I immediately aimed for the ring and viola!
"Yeah!!! that was a 3-point-shoot by Miss Jamila"
I heard the crowd scream and cheered for me.
We are now scoring way too high compared to the opponent.
Another quarter just got ended.
In the third quarter, Shaina's team played so hard and almost chased our score.
And so on the final quarter, we have to work extra hard to win this game.
We all felt the pressure and tension towards each other.
Every time I got the chance of grabbing the ball, I always aim to shoot it on the ring. But this time, I did not expect that Shaina will push me so hard, reason why I dropped the ball and stumbled down.
"Foul!" the announcer declared.
Time remaining in the game: 45 seconds
I have to succeed in these shots.
I looked around me. Everyone is cheering up for me including Dylan. He looked so serious but I know, he is aiming for me to win this time.
I have succeeded with the two shots I made. The current score is 82-77 in favor of us.
For the last remaining seconds, I know none of us expected the next scenario.
I am holding the ball and was aiming for the ring but Shaina immediately grabbed the ball in my hands.
She hurriedly took the chance of beating me in my head using the ball.
The impact was so strong that the only thing I remembered was...
The bell rang indicating that the game just ended then I loose consciousness.
Dylan Jasper's POV
I almost punch the chair when I saw Shaina hit Jamila. Everything happened so fast reason why no one had ever stop this from happening.
We hurriedly took Jamila to the nearest hospital. While in the ambulance, the medical team of the school is trying to give her first aid but it is not working.
I closed my eyes. No not this time Jamila, you have to fight!
I held her hand. This time, it's not warm anymore compared to her warm hands before which I used to grab.
When we arrived at the hospital, Chelsea came suddenly to tell me that the three brothers of Jamila are on their way to see Jamila.
An indication that I have to leave. My body does not want to, but it is big trouble when they see me here.
"I will take care of Jamila. Don't worry. I will keep you updated." Chelsea whispered to me.
I just sighed due to frustration. I must be here beside Jamila when she wakes up but I think that's impossible.
Chelsea patted my back. Then I finally decided to leave.
I felt the heaviness in every step that I made but I am also doing this for Jamila.
If I can't be with her, at least I have to do something else.
I returned to school to search for Shaina but one of the school officials told me that she is under counseling and will surely face punishment because of what she did.
Serves her right!
I decided to go somewhere else. To the place where I brought Jamila for our first meal together. It is also the place where I first see her smile.
I keep on calling Chelsea to get some updates but still, there is no progress with Jamila's condition.
If you will ask me who is Jamila in my life right now? My answer will be simple as this: I don't know who or what I am feeling towards her right now but one thing I am sure of, I am afraid of losing her.
Clent Josh's POV
It was been two rough days for us. Dayne Jamila woke up just by now. Our baby girl is surely a fighter.
By the way, regarding her case, AJ already finds a way on how we can be secured even though Jamila is inside their school.
The brother of AJ's best friend will transfer to their school. He promised to look for Jamila every time. An instant schoolmate and bodyguard right? I just hope Jamila will be happy about it.
