16th July.
It's been around a week since the Freshers party. The regular university life has started for everyone.But there's something in Niel's life that has changed and that beautiful Change is called Mayvee.
Previously his day started with news articles and books. But now his day begins with the thought of her.
For the past week he used every spare time of his to look for her. He never talked to her or got any closer. But he silently observed everything she did. He liked how she smiles every time to everyone, how lively and friendly she is and how she spends her lunchtime reading novels or studying. There's just one thing about her that makes him confused, she always goes out of university before the last class gets over.
He tried to ask her friends but that will only make him look like a stalking creep. So he decided that he'll have to become friends with her to know more about her . And the day for him has come.
Mayvee was sitting at her usual canteen spot and read her textbook. Niel was near the door fighting his dilemma of whether he should talk to her or not. He hasn't been very good with females for as long as he can remember. He finally gathered his courage and stood behind her chair.
"Hey!" he called her. She moves to look at him. As their eyes met, he realized how beautiful amber coloured eyes she had.
"hello" she replied him with a smile. He took a deep breath and smiled back. She gestured him towards the empty chair in front of her and asked him to take a seat. She is always nice to everyone. He sat there awkwardly trying to remember the script he practised. The cool and composed Niel Thakur was a chicken when it comes to girls. He mustered up his courage and looked at her only to find that she was still smiling at him with humour in her eyes. Damn she is so stunning
He cleared his throat and asked her what she was reading about. She answered him politely and told him how much cool this institution is. He agreed and started looking here and there. The air was too thick between them.
"I guess you have something to talk to me about," she asked him breaking the silence.
"Unm…yea. Nothing in the particular, I just wanted to talk to you." He was trying his best to keep calm.
"Well I've been waiting for you to come and finally, talk to me" she closed the book and kept it on the table.
Neil knew what she was talking about. She knew that he has been stalking her for days. His cheeks flushed and he started coughing. Mayvee chuckled and handed him a glass of water. Hs gulped down the water and took a deep breath not making any eye contact with her. When he finally calmed himself down, he looked at her and both of them broke into laughter.
After a few minutes of chatting about random things he says "I was pretty curious about you and we are quite similar to each other so I thought we could become friends?"
"Aren't we already one?" she finishes off her pastry, one that niel got her. " but to become good friends, I need to know your name right?"
That's when he realised that she doesn't know him. He chuckled and saw her smiling. Her smiles damn contagious he thought to himself.
" I go by the name Niel. Niel Thakur.
As he introduced himself he found her beautiful smile fading away. She suddenly froze and wore a shocked expression. Niel was confused. He thought if he did something wrong. "mayvee?" he puts his hand on hers but she jerks away. "are you okay?"
She hastily gets up and gathers her books. "so…sorry." She stutters " I need to go."
"But where?" he stands up with her. She doesn't look at him and just hurries off. He stood there at a loss. He wanted to chase her but the way she was panicking made him decide against it.
The hell just happened?
