They both drank coffee in silence. Neither of them spoke anything for a while. For some reason, their silence was comforting. Niel was somewhat relieved to see her well, but a part of him wanted to quench his thirst of curiosity. He kept taking small glances at her. The way she licks her lips after sipping on her cup, how her long hair suddenly comes infront of her eyes and she tucks them behind her ear with an expression that conveyed that she was irritated by it. He took notice of everything,
"I know you have a lot you're curious about. And I also know that the way I behaved the other day was quite rude. So you can ask me about it. I'll try to answer your thoughts. " she said breaking the silence.
Niel broke out of his daze and was embarrassed to have kept staring at her like that. He was thankful she didn't notice else she would've thought he was a pervert. Or more so he wanted to think that she didn't notice.
He took a sip from his coffee and was arranging his thoughts about how to go on about this conversation.
"firstly, I'm glad that you seem okay. I was worried maybe you were sick or having some trouble. Also... as you said I am curious about certain things but I don't think I have the right to meddle in your private matters so I wouldn't ask them. Atleast not until we become good friends" he looked at her to check her reaction. She seemed neutral and listening. He continued " but there's just one thing I want to know about…why did you run away as soon as your heard my name?"
A faint smile crept into Mayvee's face saying she was expecting this question. So without any delay she answered " to be honest, you....." she paused for a second " co-incidentally share the same name with someone I used to know…so I was a bit surprised"
the way she paused made Niel confirm that she was uncomfortable talking more about it. so he simply gave a nod and replied
"And I assume it's someone you'd rather not remember or talk about? Given the way you reacted was not just surprised afterall…am I wrong?" as expected, Niel was quite quick to catch onto things. She smiled and let out a deep breath. " thank you for understanding. Normally people would have roasted me to know more about this certain someone who made me react that way. I'm glad you're not like that"
" I am a curious person, always trying to understand and analyse things. But not a jerk for not respecting someone's privacy. I was just worried maybe you've heard something bad about me and ran away from me because of that. Guess I wasted my food at home for nothing huh" there was a tinge of mischief in his voice. She laughed and seeing her laugh like that made all the negative feelings Niel had all this time disappear. He always thought darkness attracted him. Crime, mystery, all these negative things was interesting to him. But now all those seemed so insignificant infront of this beautiful bliss that was sitting with him at the moment. It's true that she was somewhat mysterious to him, but nevertheless her mystery didn't intrigue him anymore. He just wanted to be with her, get close to her and see her smile like that. He knew all these thoughts were too cheesy for someone like him, but he couldn't stop feeling giddy for his newfound feeling for her. He knew he fell for her. He knew he started liking her more than just friends, and he looked forward to where this feeling would lead them to in the future.
