Chapter 4 - The fight up point du hoc

After the flashback, I ran to the front crater where the remaining troops in my company gathered to regroup and tend to the wounded men.

on my way there dogging a rain of bullets and explosions along the way. I've spotted one of my comrade wounded on the side of a burning landing craft.

I ran straight from my hiding spot to him. And dragged him back to the crater. Thankfully the guns didn't zero in on our position.

I brought him to the medic. Turns out he was just having a light tremor injury. So he was already deemed combat ready.

He walked up to me, and thank me for helping him. His name is Collins. He was just private when we trained. But now turns out he was now a sergeant.

Then we went to the gathering spot together. Then with the group received orders to climb up the ridge and secure the area.

As the highest ranking officer present in my company. Collins had to led the men up climbing the ridge.

I climbed up the ridge right next to him. Suddenly there was a huge explosion at the peak of the ridge.

Many of our comrades fell down from the top. Body s laying on the ground scattered around the battlefield.

As we stilled our self we continued to climb up. When I reached the top. Suddenly an enemy charged at me with his bayonet.

I quickly grab my pistol and shot him dead . The bullet shot through his head. Blood gushed out of his skull. He laid dead on the ground.

Me, Collins, and a few men we could muster up the ridge. Steadily make our way to each bunker flanking it from the sides and clearing up every single one.

I ran inside the bunker, opened the steal door and shot the enemy's inside.

One by one we cleared the bunkers. The more bunkers we cleared the more of our men is able to climb up the ridge.

When we cleared the last bunker suddenly a huge barrage of fire rain upon our group. Shredding and butchering the men.

I managed to grab Collins and jump towards the ground for cover. Only a quarter of our men was able to duck to cover in time.

The rest was torn to shreds. There were only the four of us left. We needed to take down that anti aircraft battery fast.

We decided to split up and flank the enemy from both sides . So that if one group were to fail the other would manage to disable the anti aircraft battery.

The men went to the left trenches. Whereas Myself and Collins went to the right self. We snuck through to the edge of the trench.

When we were about to charge at the anti aircraft battery. Suddenly the group from the left came charging in. Without warning nor signal, we immediately charge in along with them with this opportunity at hand.

The operator realized this and gunned down the other group. When he was about to turn and shoot us. I throw my last grenade at the enemy. And he immediately make a run for it. We managed to reach him and Collins killed him. With his Thompson Sub machine gun.

The grenade was a decoy to trick him. Not a real one if he realised that we would have been dead. But thankfully he didn't realised it in the middle of the confusion.

Then we marked the location with green smoke and take a break. Knowing that we managed to secure our objective.

Out of the 300 men sent to land here. The first wave was wiped out. The second wave received heavy casualties. And all of the survivors are heavily wounded.

However the third wave managed to land unscathed thanks to us. We were the only survivor form the first wave. our company was wiped out.

So we were assigned to support the third division along the Remnant of the second wave. For the next battle.
