"Excuse me; I'm sorry for my lat… "
Lu Li-Jun pushed open the door to the post-graduate seminar class and seeing that the professor was already in the class he pleaded for his lateness to class. His perfectly straight hair was messy, his good-looking and striking face was covered in a little bit of sweat and his brown-colored eyes were amazed at seeing the young slender beautiful professor that was dressed in a plaid skirt with a purple long sleeve blouse at the podium.
…Mr.….,
'Li-Jun ... Lu Li-Jun he said giving her his name in a low, deep voice.
….Mr. Li-Jun, when next you are late you to my class you will have to stay out. "
Professor Xu LiNa's voice carried across the seminar room, cutting off his words; her eyes glaring at him were filled with admonishment and rebuke.
Li-Jun finding a desk, he sat beside an African-Asian girl Name Zhang Tanya and an American guy named Paul Wilbur, greeting them with a nod, focusing all his attention on switching his laptop, he grumbled about it not being charged after the meeting he had yesternight. Rubbing the center of his forehead as a headache started.
"Unbelievable," he gritted out under his breath.
"Did you say something, Mr. Li-Jun?"
Professor LiNa sharp voice asked him from across the podium; fifteen sets of eyes were looking at him, his long attractive-looking fingers were clutching the laptop. Then fifteen pairs of eyes looked back at the professor, who stood still and began to stare at him. Her calm manner complimented the overall proportion of her facial structures, her large, expressive blue eyes, and full lips. She was young and gorgeous, but in that minute extremely annoyed.
Li-Jun lifting up his face from the laptop that was blinking red due to the low battery slowly, looked up to discovered a dark eyebrow arched with a pair of angry, piercing blue eyes. He gulped noisily.
"I expect an answer to my question, Mr. Li-Jun. In the event that you'd want to go along with the class." Her voice was piercing, like her eyes.
Li-Jun clenched his teeth with his chin locked, he shook his head, with his neck taut barely getting it to move. "Nope," he said, his voice was audible across the class. "I didn't say a thing."
The other post-graduate students shifted in their seats and took subtle looks at each other. Their looks were asking each other, what is going? Yet, they don't utter a word. For it is regularly realized that post-graduate students are not willing to defy their professors as for anything, not to mention impolite conduct.
Li-Jun realizing his actions brought out his notebook so as to jot some things down. Lost in his thought and barely listening to what the professor was saying. He started drawing furiously on a piece of paper he tore from his notebook.
Turning away from him, the professor frowned almost faintly at no one in particular and turned her back to write on the board, droning on and on about the biodiversity of plants.
"According to E.O Wilson in his book "The Diversity of Life", there are about 284, 400 species of plant. I want everyone to read the first few pages of the book and make a few notes about the roles and beneficial effects of plants in the biosphere. We'll discuss our discoveries the next time we meet.
As she started packing up her book and iPad into her bag, "If anyone has questions about the upcoming projects, feel free to see me after the lecture." Her voice rose above the whispered conversations echoing around the room.
The students also gathered up their things as they moved out of the class, Li-Jun shoved his dead laptop and books into the depths of his Italian bag along with his pen.
Moving towards the door a piece of paper flew out of his notebook which was in his hand towards the professor; it was the paper which he drew the smiling beautiful face of the professor during the lecture. "Shit," he said scrambling towards the paper that was picked up by the professor.
As soon as she saw the paper with her beautiful face displayed on it, a different kind of flush appeared on her face, two pink spots on the curve of her cheeks shows that she was blushing.
No one would have noticed because no one was looking at her, except for Li-Jun while walking anxiously towards her.
A wide, surprised grin spread across Lu Li-Jun's attractive face.
Professor LiNa raised her large eyes to the man next to her and looked at him with a grimace. "Something amusing, Mr. Lu Li-Jun?"
His brown eyes widened in alarm. His smile quickly disappeared as he bent his head to look at the professor, turning his head to the other side and he bit his lower lip between his teeth, back and forth.
Lu Li-Jun's eyes swung back at Professor LiNa face, as he saw her smiling as she was looking at the drawing again. Caught in the act, LiNa's face changed to a stoic expression even though she'd done nothing wrong. An embarrassing heat flooded her limbs. Wanting to bury herself for letting him see her blush at the drawing, she schooled her face as tightly as possible, reining in her expression as she arched a silent eyebrow.
"Let me guess," Professor LiNa murmured coolly, or at least in a tone she hoped sounded glacially chilled as if she didn't care about his opinion, because the last thing she wanted him to think was that she cared...about him.
What was worse was the way he looked at her, attracting her. It made her body feel excited. She dislikes the way his gorgeous eyes made her body heat with all kinds of inappropriate responses, just as much as she hated how the curve of his lips made her want to touch her own mouth, wondering what the two would feel like pulling together. Most of all, she detested how her eyes were fixated on his fitted body which was covered with long sleeve T-shirt with the sleeve rolled up his arms.
It must be some internal, natural selection thing she couldn't control. Survival of the fittest lured her into gravitating toward the strongest, healthiest, most attractive male in the pack who seemed most appropriate for the reproduction of the species. After watching him during the class a few minutes ago, she knew he will be some distracting point she did not want in her life
"You're not listening to what I was saying so you decided to fill in your time by drawing me during lecture, right." She cocked her head to the side looking straight towards him and returned the piece of paper to him.
His light brown eyes tilted softly as they narrowed, drawling his voice softly. "You know, it's like you can read my mind, Professor LiNa." Li-Jun drawled.
He didn't look apologetic for being found drawing her during the lecture. He didn't sound embarrassed. He didn't claim to feel a bit of regret. He looked pleased.
Faking a gracious smile, "All things considered, perhaps when you accept your Degree, you'll get the artistic work of telepathy as well, Mr. Li-Jun." Professor LiNa scolded him.
His eyes shifted away from her face as he gritted his teeth. "I am sorry, Professor. I was just a little bit disoriented today." Moses pleaded with her.
"Hardly an appropriate behavior from a doctoral student. But since you plead with me, I trust you will try to suppress the act of coming late to class and drawing your professor's mug shot in class. Oh, and Mr., Li-Jun? "Lifting her chin high, she smiled at him. "Like I said in class, if you have any questions about your project, you can always discuss it with me. I'm in my office every day from two to five pm, available to speak with any serious-minded student."
"Maybe I will," he murmured, watching her hips swing just as she walked out of the class.
