It was Saturday while most of the business events were lively, with performers of different talents in attendance to entertain the guests, this particular Business party is filled with a very different feeling of its own.
LiNa looked around, at the rich and influential people who made up the visitor's list who were sizing each other out for connections.
And while everyone around her appeared relaxed, due to the heavy flow of sophisticated wine, she was sure that they were pretending to be calm. They were occupied in procuring Deals and buying their way into lucrative relationships, and the big wigs from the business world were always on the talk for their next business idea.
This specific business occasion was private; nearly everybody in this gathering comes from old money or is an independent business magnate with their money and political associations. CEOs, judges, and lawmakers, and so on… Anyone who was anybody in this city was here in this event. LiNa's mother was from a family that deals with the productions of exotic cars while her father was a self-made business tycoon, Hence the reason for the invitation her parent gave her to this event...
Time and again, she has been dragged to several benefits, luncheons, and galas by her parents so that she could help in making connections and building relationships despite her not having an interest in anything called business.
Li Na sat at the corner of the hall watching and pondering while sipping a glass of wine she collected from the serving waitress in silence rather than be forced to smile and nod as if she had any interest in what they were talking about. But now, glancing around the crowd and trying to take her mother's suggestion of finding a potential partner – to occupy her time, she had to admit she does not even know where to start because she was not good at socializing with people. Standing up from her seat, she put away her wine glass and she holds up the transparent blue layers of her gown tucking away her phone in her clutch. She started walking towards the partial setup bar, letting the hems of her gown fall back down to her feet, loving how light the fabric is as it brushed across her legs. Falling to the tops of her feet, the gown hugged her body in an overlapping pattern on the front and at her back but flared out only slightly below the waist in an A-line shape. It was a beautiful sky blue gown and looked perfect with her clutch.
Leaning towards the bar, she asked the waiter for another glass of wine feeling frustrated with the whole business event.
Taking a large gulp from her glass, she started walking away from the bar. Walking towards the dark part of the hall she started feeling dizzying. Sighing, she breathes in so that she can relieve herself. Raising her head up, she jerked back when someone grabbed her wrist and snatched the half-filled glass out of her hand.
"Careful," a low, deep voice warned. Blinking, her eyes moved between the hand on her wrist and the floor, where she had spilled a little drink when she had bent over. Raising her head up she tried and looked at him through her blurry eyes as he uttered, "Professor Xu?" she gaped back at him looking at he is tilted lips and his hooded eyes in surprise. Totally shocked, she stammered out "Li…Mr. Li Jun, what are you doing here?
I am attending the business party going on at this place as the CEO of the Lu Corporation" he answered her, nodding at the person who greeted him as he walked by them.
Staring at him in a daze, Li Na moaned a little "Wow! He looked incredible!" she thought to herself.
His black hair was cut close to the scalp on the sides and in the back, with the longer hair on top styled neatly. He was clean-shaven, and his custom-made wool tux was black deep enough to make everyone else's here look faded, it gave him a dignified and predator appearance. His shoes outshined his Rolex Watch. And he was handsome. The narrow jaw and high cheekbones emphasized his sharp black eyebrows over his light brown eyes. He was more than handsome. He was seductive.
Clearing her throat, she came back to herself and tried to pretend it was perfectly normal for her to be here, drinking some wine to ease her muddled nerves. "Wait! You are Lu's son, who took over the Lu Corporation some years back... right?" startled, she asked him.
Looking at her a second longer, he nodded his head, "Yes I am"
"Oh! That figures "she frowned, as she was reminded that he already had a master's degree and doctoral in business administration when she was checking out his information at her office.
Moving close to her, "So what are doing here, professor" Li Jun asked in a charming manner.
Feeling unsettled at his closeness, "I am here on behalf of my parents." She answered.
Looking at him and feeling drunk, she confessed.
"Li Jun, do you know what I thought to myself the first day I saw you in the class, I thought to myself Oh! He is so handsome despite his lateness to my class and that I will love to know how sweet his lips are when he kissed me."
Li Jun looked at Li Na as she babbled on and on about her attraction to him, "I will love to kiss you too professor". He murmured.
As he continued to look at her, standing tall and not making any move to back off. "Getting drunk, spilling drinks, and now admitting your thoughts … Are you normally such a hot mess, Professor Li Na?" he teased with a mischievous smile.
Standing up suddenly, Li Na staggered her eyes were perky and glassy and her posture was a little too loose for her. "I'm not drunk, How can I get drunk over a couple of drinks?." She tried to straighten her spine in her prim, professor way, but she only ended up tipping to the side.
Realizing what she was doing, she braces her hand on the top of Li Jun, catching herself. As her eyebrows puckered with frustration, Li Jun reached out and helped her straighten up, loving the touch of her hands on him. The warmth of her hands heated his flesh.
"Did they put something stronger in my drink?" she accused, scowling in the direction of the bar. "Because I suddenly feel a little… tipsy," she said.
Li Jun snorted. "Tipsy? professor Li Na, you are drunk not tipsy." Her back tried to stiffen all arrogantly again. "I beg your pardon?
Li Jun looked at her as he tried to remain a gentleman; he felt his control slipping away as her hands started roaming over his body in an attempt to lean on him.
Seeing that she was restless, Li Jun stealthily steered her towards the door. Moving towards the parking lot he contemplated calling his driver, coming to a conclusion. He asked her "LiNa, did you come in a cab or you brought your car here?"
Raising her head up, she looked at him "hmm.. I brought my car here.." she said as she started looking around.
Pointing to a white sports car " oh, that's my car!" she yelled cheerfully.
"Where is the car keys?" he smiled while thinking to himself that she's cute.
Li Na started digging into her purse she pulled out a set of keys and gave it to Li Jun.
Walking towards the car he opened the door and helped her to the passenger's seat and went ahead to seat to the driver's seat. Closing the door, he started the car and drove to her house.
