Chereads / Your worst nightmare TWD / Chapter 2 - Chapter 1

Chapter 2 - Chapter 1

In the end, over days of agonizing over where to go and what to do, I simply know more about TWD than I do FTWD, I may try to meet up with them when they move in to Texas but California is simply too much risk.

With that in mind I looked up farmland in Georgia in Senoia as I know that's where the Green family's farm is. It makes me feel kinda stalker ish but it's whatever. The best I could find on such short notice was an 72 Acre lot for sale. Thankfully it has a small pond near the middle of the lot as well as a tiny stream at the edge of the lot.

There were already two pre dug functional pump wells. The land mostly seems made for cattle grazing and such as there is already plots for hay. It seems someone started to build on the land but stopped. Thankfully the land would only run me around 190k, expensive but it has everything needed. I obviously put as minimum a down payment as possible and had a prefab house company rush order a house to be placed on my land, it would be tight though given I only have around 3 months before shit happens. And having the land and the already pre made sections of the house delivered and set up was going to be close.

It would obviously be built to use solar and propane for energy as anything else would be pointless. Besides I didn't want to pay to have to be hooked to a power grid that wouldn't be there soon. The home would be fairly simple 2 bedroom 2.5 bath, office, eat in kitchen, and a living room. It will be two stories with the bedrooms, one with a master bathroom and the second full bathroom in the hallway between the two bedrooms with the half bath downstairs for visitors.

The home was fairly simple in design and was only about 1600sqft but more than enough as the bottom was mostly open concept as could be.

I had to do most of this online and over the phone with them emailing me designs for approval. They are also putting up the barn and I'm having two decent chicken coops brought in, only big enough for a dozen or so birds each. I may have a third one brought in to have chicks in though.

Other than that I'm importing 3 milk cows and 16 head of cattle with a bull. I'm thinking of goats also but I don't know much about them or any other animals. Maybe rabbits? I don't really want pigs though.

After all is said and done between the land, the buildings and the animals on order my funds are far more than cut in half. It took around 140k for them to build the house and another 13k to build the barn.

I had only gotten around 130k from my house that I sold and around 300k for my parents house and other things. Plus the little bit of savings I had already saved up, another 37k

I still had a bunch of things I needed to buy and am thankful I don't have to worry about taxes this year. I may also try to get a small loan if needed. But I only really need to buy a shit ton of animal feed as well as a good supply of non perishable human food and stuff. I also still wanted to buy a small RV as well and those were expensive. But thankfully I also won't have to buy it out right and can just make payments until there is nobody left to pay. End of the world and stuff.

RV usually around around 50-120k but I should only need to drop 30-40k as a down payment. So it should be fine as I also want to add solar panels to the roof for when stopped and not wanting to waste gas. I decided on a 2010 Mercedes Class C RV. Expensive as hell but who cares? It was new and leather and beautiful.

The only other things I really needed to do was buy food and a few more weapons. Maybe some extra cold weather gear even though I could simply loot later. In the name of my guy from resident evil, 'bitch my shit is custom!' Or whatever he said.

Well weapons wasn't that difficult honestly, a few good Bowie hunting knives or maybe a dozen, whatever don't judge me, it's the end of the world I can splurge. The rest of the things I bought were a few 9mm pistols and as much ammo as I could get from a few different shops around the state.

I couldn't really do much more than stockpile things in a good sized storage locker until my little homestead is built or at least the barn, and ready to move in to. But at least I got my Mercedes RV! I also got a simple 2010 Ford F-150 to help move things around a bit and to explore the area. I needed to mentally map some places out.

After making all the appointments and setting everything up as much as possible there wasn't really much I could do right now. I couldn't even really buy large quantities of animal feed as I only had one large storage unit to place things into right now. I could get another but I'm not really trying to be suspicious right now even though I may as well be living the song 'don't be suspicious, don't be suspicious' as my current life! I do plan to 'meet the neighbors when I go to my home soon though or to at least try.
