The time has arrived, people are panicking in the street and are being attacked and eaten on the news all around the country.
I pull my truck out into my lawn with the bed of the truck a few feet away from the house. With that done I put the ladder in the bed of the truck and use it as a bridge to get on the roof of the house quickly with a large ammo can full of magazines and set up by the arch in the window so that I have something to either perch on or lean on depending on which way I'm shooting.
My rifle is set up simply, mostly for faster movement. A light attached to the right side rail, an ACOG, and a vertical grip underneath. Not much else is needed in this situation.
After a moment of observing the area I begin shooting anyone who I know was bitten for certain, from my position I could pretty much see one block in every direction so it was a target rich environment. I was by no means billy the kid but I could hit the target from 400-500 meters away with a headshot most of the time, at 300 meters it was almost a guarantee hit. Good but by no means the greatest.
For a few moments all that could be heard was the 'Crack Crack' of my rifle firing at a fairly steady pace. I did wave a few people to my house as it was obviously safe. So far only a young girl or woman took up the offer since the guy attacking her head exploded. I haven't met her yet really but I did tell her to shut the door behind her before she entered and I heard a click of a slamming door.
I'm pretty sure the girl who came to the house was the girl that Judy tried to give mouth to mouth, I'm not sure how she died in the show but she looked ok when I saw her running.
I'd probably dropped around thirty or forty walkers in just the last 5 to 10 minutes before I saw an RAV4 driving erratically and then hit a tree trying to avoid a 'person'. I just sighed internally. After a good few seconds I saw one of the doors open and a cute blonde haired kid get out crying. And a little boy got out following her a moment later.
I called out to them hoping they would come over to the house and I wouldn't have to deal with much else. "Hey, kid! Over here!" I yell to them and their heads snap over to me panicking. But the girl that came to the house shot out of the door like a bullet and coaxed them both over to her. The girl may have been around her late teens or early twenties, hard to tell really as I haven't talked to her yet. They all sprinted to the house a few seconds later with the young woman picking up the little boy as they ran.
By This time the girl came to the upstairs window that I was perched on and opened it slightly surprising me. "Thanks mister…?" She asked uncertainly. "Alex ma'am" I tell her taking another shot. "Olivia" she says after the shooting and the ringing in her ears cleared. The walkers were actually finally coming towards me instead of harassing other people for the most part. I also think most people, those that survived anyways, are now hunkering down in their homes either afraid of me or the 'people' roaming the streets.
I did ask the girl to pass me the bullhorn that was sitting around and she passed it to me a minute or so later after searching. "Olivia, I need to know if you or the kids were bitten by those things?" I asked her grimly through the window. "No none of us were bitten or scratched, you got it before it could touch me, thank you for that by the way." I sigh at that.
"That's good ma'am, this is being spread through the bite and maybe scratches. Iv been tracking this for months at this point, trying to find the truth from the fiction and it isn't a pretty picture." If I could see her face she I would probably see her lips pressed firmly together. "It's viral I think. Even if your not bitten, everyone in the world from what I'm told is already infected and if you die you will also turn into those things out there, it's how it's gotten so bad so quickly." I can hear her cussing lightly from here probably trying not to scare the children.
"Any other nuggets of wisdom?" She asked kinda deadpan.
She will regret asking that I think. "Plenty if I'm honest. I could put an entire magazine in one of them and it wouldn't do much unless it was a head shot. Destroy the brain is the only way to stop them permanently." I could hear the grimace in her voice as she cursed some more.
After that conversation I used the Bullhorn. Told people that if your bitten, you will turn into one of those monsters attacking people.
I also talked to Olivia a little more, she had a soft voice I noticed, I also told her that the people that are infected come back dead, that their brain ceases to function basically and there is simply nothing left of the old person.
I have already went through 4 magazines, it's almost cathartic, like a game but then I remember these were people a few hours ago and I again curse the god like being that put me in this world.
As time goes on I'm slightly surprised that no cops or anything have showed up to the gun firing. But I have noticed that a few people have left their homes and I also noticed they had blood on them so probably bitten and leaving their family's so they dont come back and kill them. There weren't enough though so I'm sure some people ignored my warning.
I still hadn't really decided what to do yet really. I was obviously going to leave soon but wasn't sure if I would try to take too many people with me. I kinda wanted to save everyone I could as I knew what the future held in a decade and it was ugly if TWD world beyond was anything to go by. But also needed the right people, workers, fighters and smart people.
Then I noticed judy arrive, I'm not sure how she didn't notice anything in canon but if she didn't notice anything this time with dead bodies everywhere I would give up on her plus there was the fact I was shooting still. But she did look scared and seemed to be looking for a path to her home. Then Olivia yelled out the window "hey lady get off the street either come here or go to whatever house is in soldier boys line of sight. People are eating each other for Christ's sake!" She nearly bellowed in my ear it was so loud. I was impressed at the pair of lungs on the girl.
She fled to a house a couple houses down and the other side of the road. At least she didn't get nibbled on this time, yet anyways.
If Jamie had seen the woman she would probably recognize her as her stepmom but the kids were on the bed trying to rest and ignore the shooting.
