It's already been over a month since I entered this soon to be hell. I haven't really been able to do much as it is, I am still working and plan to do so up until at least august. Then I will bug out, use all my saved up leave time.
In a week I'm scheduled time off to go visit my land in person for the first time so that should be fun, right?
The barn is almost put up as it was simply pre made in sections off site and shipped then assembled so I could finally have animal feed delivered to the property at least.
I also had to remake my bug out bag sorta. It mostly now consisted of a few bottles of water, a few cans of food, a hunting knife, my 9mm, 7 magazines and a few boxes of bullets. I would of course have other bags packed in the car and other weapons on my person but that bag wouldn't leave my sight when I leave.

I only really had a month of guaranteed time left before the fall so I figured it was time to check on my new lands. The animals began arriving slowly over the last week or so but I managed to contact my closest neighbors, the Greene's, I offered to pay Hershel a fair sum to take care of the animals every day as I already had everything set up including the feed needed for a good long while, just needed someone to oversee it for a month or two.
I should also mention that I had decided to schedule my leave for this period and would last for about three months in which time the world will probably be firmly over so I wasn't really worried about it.
I actually managed to get in contact with the greens by going through the local feed supplier in town as I guess something like this isn't completely uncommon, having someone to act as a temporary foreman on a farm.
Either way it would be good to meet them soon to see how they are before the shit storm.

Shit it was weird rolling up on their farm when the world was still spinning. But it looked almost the same as it did in the series so it was giving me a case of the heebie jeebies. An old man with an awesome beard came out to greet me as I pulled up to the farmhouse quickly followed by a pretty woman who looked to be in her early to mid twenties. Had to be Maggie.
"Good day Mr. Greene!" I tell the older man as I get out of the car.
He looks at me slightly confused for a second before it clicks I guess. "Mr Duvall? Apologies I thought you would be older. Not many people your age wish to take on such ways of life anymore."
I just nodded my agreement. "Yah I know Mr Green, there are actually several reasons for it, one is to just get away from the big city's and to try to be more self reliant. Though I need to travel around for the next month or so to take care of a few things, I'm thankful y'all will look after my home for me while I'm away." He just nodded. "You can call me Hershel son, and this here is my daughter, Maggie." We kinda just waved I may have blushed slightly and I could see she was slightly trying to look away as well. She is just too cute a country girl not to like.

There wasn't much time left before the end. I had finally decided on a spot to start. I remember seeing one of the tiny spin-off shows for the series and actually wanted to save the little girl that Rick first passed by that was dead. She was the mother of the little girl in the torn apart series named Hannah. Jamie and her mom and brother both lived in King county Georgia and the mother didn't die until she did something really stupid. Reaching into a car without checking it for infected first.
I would attempt to save them so I found and rented rented a house not far from them and would attempt to help them and some others along the way if the chance arose but I don't have a perfect memory so I don't remember everything from scene to scene. I have written things down in a journal that I remember and I add to it as necessary but it's far from perfect.
I also plotted places on a map that would be useful all around Georgia such as ammunition manufacturer locations and anything else useful I could think of. Also printed off useful information for the future such as how to do farming shit and anything else I thought would be useful.
With all that done I sit in the top floor of the house, as I'm also thinking of simply shooting zombies from the rooftop with an ammo box full of magazines. I have my tactical vest sitting beside me, it doesn't have any plates or anything, I simply set it up as a magazine carrier, 10 extra mags and one in the AR15 alongside my pistol carrier that holds my 9mm Glock and two spare mags. I may also have a few spare 9mm mags stuffed in my cargo pockets but that is hearsay.
Most of my preparations were done or close enough to matter. The animals had all arrived, there was over a years worth a different animal feed and all my non perishables had arrived and everything had been moved from the storage lockers to the barn or the house.
And with that I simply wait. Things should go to shit in another day or two as things are getting slightly crazy in other parts of the world. France is basically fucked it seems and the other countries around it aren't much better.
