Chapter 35 - The War On Saputa Has Only Just Begun

Muja was watching the beach ahead outside a Saputa outpost, during a night. They've been supposed to keep watch of the coast, in case any attack was to occur, ever since information told them that the island nation of Cenu had been conquered. It was such a shame too. He remembered when he was younger, that he would travel there with his family for days. He was lucky that he could still see the sleepy town of Franport in the distance, as it was still better than nothing.

"Ah come on Muj, there's never anything out there. Plus you can't even see anything out there. We finna play a game of cards. You in?" a soldier came from behind.

"Yeah, why not," he replied, walking deeper inside.

"I'll take your place." another soldier said to him, as he waited for him to pass, before going outside.

It was a nice environment, full of generally chill people. They haven't seen any action since being placed here, but as long as they were alive, it was fine with them.

They were just about to start their 13th game of War when a soft boom and a few bangs were heard from outside. Everyone looked around.

"Did you guys just hear that?" Muja asked.

They all nodded and got up to their feet. They put on their uniforms if they hadn't already and were about to go outside until they heard a loud banging on the door of the outpost. They looked at each other in curiosity, as Muja lightly covered his hands in ice, as it was his power. Creaking open the door, he saw the soldier that took his place stumbling inside, blood leaking from his uniform and mouth.

"Whoa! What happened to you!" he cried out, "Someone gets some supplies for him!"

As some of the soldiers went searching for them, the other soldier began to speak.

"Run. Run away. They're here. The invasion is beginning." he muttered before falling unconcise.

Muja looked back at the soldiers with him. It couldn't possibly be true. He heard a louder boom, much closer than before, shaking the outpost.

"We need to go! Now!" Muja told them.

"But what about him? We can't just leave him there." a female soldier replied to him.

Suddenly, another loud knock on the door occurred.

"Open the door! You officially under the occupation of the Autocratic Kingdom Of Liyoden. Failure to do so will result in instant death." a voice grunted through the door.

"What do we do?" she whispered at them all, "Do we fight and die or surrender and live dishonorably?"

"Well, I'm not trying to die, so good luck y'all." a soldier from behind said, walking out the door and closing it behind.

They quickly locked it, and listen to hear him talk about the people inside before he began to scream and a loud bang was heard again, with silence occurring.

"Come out now! We will not hurt you! You have one minute!" the same voice said again.

Muja looked around at everyone, not knowing what to do. Is his life really over? Is this how he wanted to die?

"Guys, I refuse to die like this. So whether that happens or not, I just want you'll to know that this was the best squad to ever be with."

They looked at each other and nodded. If this was it, then it would be an honor. Muja took a deep breath and opened the door. He was about to walk outside with his hands up until a large tube was aimed right in front of him.

"What the f-" were his final words.

....

At the landing site, Youden heard a loud boom and saw a large heap of dirt and splintered wood thrown into the sky. That must be the work of a tarr, he assumed. Overhead, he heard a small noise and looked to see the Ariocasters beginning to drop bombs far ahead, creating plenty of explosions and destruction everywhere. May 7th would be a night to remember.

"Sir!" a foot soldier reported to him.

"Yes? Is this important news?" he asked him.

"Sir, we have completely captured the entire town of Franport and some of our troops are five miles inland as we speak. Saputa will probably be on high alert now, and we can expect our frontlines to begin to stall. I've been told that our other allies will force them to spread out their troops, allowing us to get through more easily."

"Thank you for the update. Now get back in there." Youden told him.

The soldier nodded and rushed back into the chaos. Youden couldn't stop grinning. All of this, just to attract one man. It was sad in a way, but to him, nothing was wrong with some extra carnage on the side.

"Sir, are you coming into the town with us?" a driver shouted at him, pulling up in a carr.

"Yes, I think I will," he said, jumping inside.

With that, the driver turned it around and sped towards the town's direction.
