Chapter 41 - Good Reporting Coming In

Youden walked past his soldiers, saluting towards him. He was at the dock of Franport, which only a day or two ago he had captured. He could smell the salt in the air, as several boats were at rest, unloading new supplies. The invasion was going better than expected, as he had just received news that they were around sixty miles from some world tournament. Boom was probably stressing over the event, and he was glad.

"Sir, we just received several new reports coming in! Would you like to hear them?" a soldier on the reporting team rushed to him from behind.

He waved his hand, and he began announcing the latest news.

"Currently, as of the report from 5:05 p.m. May 8th, we are already fifteen miles in some spots, but most of our forces are within ten miles from us. You might have known this already, but the closest major event from us would have to be The National Student Tournament, being held about sixty miles away from the closest forces. From that spot, the capital is still about eighty miles away, and if everything is going as planned, by early August, the war will be over, and us as the victors. We've lost only about thirty troops and a slightly damaged light-variant tarr, most likely to the fact that Saputa hasn't seen anything that revolutionary in a long time. Now, for our other allies, they aren't doing much, which we knew would occur. The coalition of those nations has put a combined fifteen miles that they were able to take inland. Hopefully, this will force Saputa to spread their army out. That's all the news I have to update you with."

"Thanks for that. We still have lots of work to do, and I have to plan our attack on the capital if you don't mind. Continue bringing the updates." he replied back.

The soldier nodded, and went back to the carr he came from, to continue getting new updates for the army. Youden briskly walked away from the dock, passing work from not just soldiers, but the people that still lived here. Since the occupation, they've been mostly non-resistance, and treated things as if nothing had happened to them. Perhaps it was because of how little support Saputa had given the area and that they've been forgotten, or just the natural fear of their machines, or both. Regardless, the town was under their control, and Youden wouldn't let it go that easily, as up ahead on the road, some of the former citizens were wiping their heads, constructing small trenches to defend against any possible counter attack. He doubted that would occur, but you never know what could happen. Overhead, an Ariocaster flew above him, flying towards the direction of the island chain. He was impressed with the amount of work they were able to put in, as he stopped in front of a worn-out building. Opening the door and closing it behind him, he walked up the stairs to his side and opened another door above. A few of his generals were inside staring down at a large map on a long table, as the others and the commanders were out leading the army. When they noticed his presence, they quickly saluted towards him.

"Good evening, sir! We have been expecting you." a general greeted him, and Youden nodding and took a seat by the window.

The general that had greeted him, cleared his throat and began to tell him their newest plans.

"So here, General Fu is leading about two thousand of our men to capture those five riverside towns, allowing us to gain access to one of the country's water supply, as well as clear access on the river more importantly. On the other side, you were with Commander Henri, with around five hundred men, and is on course to reach two other nations armies, and that force will allow us to push towards the tournament that's being hosted there. At the current rate we're going, I'll suspect that we'll be at the site in about five more days."

"Hm, and what happens if people are still in the tournament? What are we suppose to do? Kill them all? Can we at least wait a little longer before pushing there, and let's be more honorable, cause that's just a bit sick, attacking children."

"Sir, there are adult fighters, there to-"

"Did I ask? You will hold the force for one day, before pushing them, giving them time to leave! Even if it slightly messes up our plans, it just isn't the right thing to do in this moment."

"I'm sorry, sir. I'll be more thoughtful the next time. Before you leave, there's one last thing I must tell you. Linda's researching team has been creating a new weapon. One that allows use to fire even a stronger projectile than our heavy tarrs and from far away."

"Is that so?" Youden questioned. If such weapon existed, it could make the war end even faster.

"Yes, but it will probably be completed by the time we take the capital."

Youden nodded and got up. He had no need to be here any longer. More important things could be done.

"Thank you for all the updates and keep bringing them to me, but I shall travel deeper with our forces, as Saputa's end comes closer. Good day to you, and I'll return in a few days."

They saluted back to him, and he walked back out the building. More weapons to test and serve him. Oh boy, Saputa's end couldn't come closer.
