Chapter 45 - A Fight For The Ages

Jamal stepped around the space, avoiding where Ula was hiding, as Leon attempted to hit him. Each attack sent a deep crack into the walls behind them. Jamal launched hundreds of fireballs into the sky, and leaped into the sky, forcing Leon to follow suit. They both began to rapidly punch at each other, dodging each other's blows. Jamal propelled himself to the side, dodging a kick Leon tried to hit, and front-flip kicked him back into the floor. By then, the fireballs he launched, were coming back down, and rained back onto him. Floating back down, he aimed both hands towards where he kicked him down, and instantly a large fireball formed.

He blasted it towards him, until a big burst of aura dispersed it. Leon had a larger aura around him then before, his eyes a more noticeable red, and was no longer smiling. In fact, Jamal could see the shirt he was wearing, beginning to tear. Heh, maybe he underestimated the competitors this year, as Leon launched himself high in the sky. Jamal attempted to punch him, and Leon countered it, by connecting his fist with his, creating more excessive wind the stadium onlookers would have to deal with, the covers above their heads beginning to lift.

Jamal pushed off of Leon, and landed back on the floor. Leon fell back on the ground, creating a small crater and slowly moving back up. Jamal sliced the air around him, sending several thin but condensed lines of fire, towards him. Leon flicked the air ahead of him, pushing the flames away, and having Jamal slide a few feet. Crouching down, Jamal began to yell, and more flames raised up above him.

"I won't let you get away with this. I'm not going to play with you anymore. You shall take on my full power and be crushed in an instant!" Leon yelled, his shirt ripping, "Times one-hundred!"

Both boys were creating hurricane-level winds, as the protective glass set in place began to shudder. Many covers protecting the audience were being ripped off and the roof of the stadium creaked from the pressure. A few fighters still inside, got flung into the sky, and over the roof, which was hundreds of feet high above the fighting space, taking them out of the tournament. Ula was lucky behind a rock, that had a roof covering her, as the wind ripped around them.

When they both finished, Jamal was standing with a large aura of fire surrounding him. Leon had an equal aura of size, both almost reaching the walls protecting the crowd watching, as they still cheered despite the danger. Leon's shirt was non-existent, as it showed an almost ideal-looking body, if there wasn't a light scar.

"I got this scar from going against someone forcing me to go all out. Let's see if you can do the same." he said.

Without anyone noticing them moving, suddenly a big burst of light appeared in the middle of the ring, as their fists did all the work. They continued to attack each other, until their fist had connected again, keeping a strong wind inside the space. They both stood in place, trying to overpower the other. Jamal stood his ground, but was slowly slipping from Leon's force. He could feel the smoke coming off his back, and he knew he couldn't be holding it for long. Leon continued pressing him, and was slowly pushing Jamal back.

Jamal continued to push back, but it was straining him. Coughing out blood from the strength of Leon, he could feel more of it began to stream out of his mouth, and his shirt getting ripped. More smoke was coming off his back, and the flames covering his face began to disappear and the orange from his eyes gone, revealing more blood leaking out of his mouth, and being flung behind him from the wind. Leon grinned, and pressed on even more.

"What's the matter, you running out of energy? I told you, you couldn't take me on." he laughed, pressing on.

Jamal slipped, and was on his knees, more flames disappearing from his body, and slowly getting weaker. By now, the only part of his body on fire, were his feet and the hand keeping him from getting hit, and the top part of his outfit gone. Breathing heavily and one hand clutching his chest, his eyes red from the strain, slowly began getting pushed, forcing Jamal to hold his hand to prevent himself from getting hit.

"Jamal! No!" he heard Ula scream.

"You stay put! I'll finish you after this, so you better stay back. I won't hold back on you either, until I win. I'll kill you all to win!" Leon cackled.

"You're messed up. It's just a tournament, man. I don't care if I win. I just want to learn from the experience now." Jamal muttered.

"Oh, you have no idea what it's like for your parents to have high expectations for everything. I've been doing this since I finally got my powers. I haven't disappointed them then, and I won't know. Years of training to lose to someone like you, probably hasn't even trained a full and proper year like I have. Your time is over, Jamal!"

Jamal grunted, as the flames from his left foot disappeared, and instantly a painful amount of pressure could be felt. At this point, his eyes we're hurting so bad, he could barely keep them open. As the other flame on his other foot disappeared, he looked back at Ula, her hands covering her mouth. He looked at the booth, where he could see many people staring down at them, Boom probably some where up there. He looked around the audience, seeing people shaking their heads, knowing the same outcome ever year. He looked back at Leon, a frenzy of destruction and power in his eyes. This is what he wants. Powering over others, and this is what it does.

"Jamal, I can't watch anymore!" Ula began to run towards him.

"Stay back! I got this." he cried out, struggling for breath.

"Oh shut up! You're about to lose now. Look at you. It's over. You gave me the most competition I'll probably get in my lifetime, besides another time, but just be glad of what you've done." Leon sneered.

"No! Let me help you Jamal!" Ula cried out again, her hands covered in darkness.

"Oh I don't think so!" he yelled at her, and using the wind from his powerful attacks, punched in her direction, flinging her back into the air, and crashing back into the rock was hiding in.

"No! Please don't! Ula, stay hidden there!" he mumbled, the flames from his hands, the only thing left preventing him from getting a full-powered punch by Leon.

She crawled back again towards him, and got back up, fresh blood spilling over her face and giving her streaks of red in her hair. She rushed up to Leon and attempted to punch him, but he grabbed her fist and raised her above him, and began to squeeze it. She screamed in pain, as the crowd had to stop looking.

"Leon, stop! Please no more!" Jamal spoke more loudly.

Leon laughed it off, and continued applying even more pressure, until something popped, and Ula fell unconscious instantly as he dropped her like a doll. Jamal looked at her fallen body, and Leon still laughing. He began to tremble.

"What did you just do?" he asked seriously.

"It doesn't matter. You'll be in more pain anyway." he grinned.

Jamal began to twitch, and slowly his eyes began to turn orange again. The flames from his body didn't reappear, but only on his fist and his feet.

"What the heck! But how! I just took out your girlfriend, and you're triggered already. I won't let you power up again!" Leon yelled, applying all of his pressure on him.

Jamal didn't collapse like Leon was hoping for, and instead slowly began to push himself back up. The flames on his fist were more condensed and began to get bigger than before. Soon enough, Leon was beginning to crouch down from the unexpected force.

"No! I refuse to lose like this!" he called out in frustration, and yelled with all the energy he had left.

A larger aura appeared, and for a second stopped Jamal from pushing him back down, until Jamal cried out in fury too, and pushed through. Leon's hand slipped, and he got punched in the face and into the ground. A huge fifty-foot crater had appeared, and the wind forced a part of the stadium roof to collapse. The protective glass broke, and the covers over the people's heads flung into the sky, if they hadn't already, the onlookers unable to see because of the smoke. The wind slowly had calmed down, and the onlookers tried to peer through the smoke. They didn't know if Leon was actually down. Medics were already waiting, ready to cart the injured away.

The smoke began to part, and the crowd watch to see Jamal and Leon both collapsed on the ground. They were quiet, until Jamal began to slowly push himself back up. The crowd was cheering instantly, as Jamal kicked the unconscious Leon out of the fighting space taking him out of the tournament. And so, in the first time in several years, had Leon lost a fight against another person.
