Chapter 9 - The Others

Boom opened the door and didn't wait for Jamal to follow him.

"But I haven't even fully recovered, shouldn't I do that first?" Jamal questioned.

"Come along, where we'll go, you'll be fixed up instantly." Boom told him.

They walked down the stairs of the hospital and opened the door to the outside world. But this wasn't the town where Jamal was from. In fact, this place looked too nice to be where he was from. Clean streetlights and pavement could be seen for miles. People in more lavish clothing then back home.

"Before you ask, I carried you here, to the capital of Saputa, Saputa City. The capital has some of the best hospitals in the region, let alone the entire country. Don't get comfortable though, because we're leaving now." Boom explained as he hailed a cab towards them.

Once they got in, Boom told them to go to the Grand Academy. The Grand Academy, wait a minute, Jamal thought for a moment, isn't that the place where only the greatest power users train and protect the country? The entire trip no one said a word, not even the driver, who would usually be asked simple questions like your day or reason for travel. The forty-minute ride leads them out the city, through the woods, and right out a large gate that was heavily guarded. Boom thanked and paid the driver a hefty amount and opened the door for him and Jamal to get out of. He walked up the guards and showed some sort of pass. The guards looked at it and quickly opened the gate for them to come through. As soon as both of them entered, it was closed immediately. They walked down the paved path for a good ten minutes until they could see the academy. It was a magnificent, massive, and decorative building. One could call it quite lavish and in extremely well-kept condition. People of high importance were walking around, discussing who knew what would be best for the military of Saputa.

They continued up the steps and into the building, which had a nice interior and overall clean aesthetic. Boom led him down some stairs to their right and into a long hallway, with only an elevator at the end. After they entered inside, Boom pressed the bottom button. Why all the way down for, Jamal wondered, what's there waiting for us.

After a few agonizing minutes, the elevator chimed, signaling they were here. When it opened, Jamal was a bit surprised. There were only a few people in the room, appearing to spar with each other. It didn't have any of what he thought would be advanced equipment, but rather strange items. He saw those items on one side of the room, maybe they were weapons or such to increase the strength or use of his power.

"You better get used to being here. Better call this place your home or whatnot. I'll let you get accustomed. I'll be back in an hour." Boom told him and went back into the elevator, as Jamal watch it close from behind him.

With a gulp, he began to walk forward, towards the fighting. What do I say, do, think, he asked himself, do I fight or do I greet myself. He chooses the greet option.

"Um, hello there, the name's Jamal." He spoke up.

As soon as he started speaking, they stopped fighting and looked at him. A silence occurred for a few moments until someone cleared their throat. Jamal noticed that there were 6 adults and 2 kids and 2 teens. Did I sign up for a summer camp or what, he pondered, what's with the little kids here?

One of the kids, a little girl said, "He thinks this is a summer camp."

Suddenly, they all started laughing. Not at her, but him. Jamal began to sigh. So one of them can mind-read or something of that sort, now what about the others. The little girl spoke up for him and said, "I'm Fonda, the other little kid is Brat and he can turn into animals and stuff, the male teen next to him is Hops and you can assume he has some of the strongest legs I've ever seen and jumps like a bunny. And then there's Ula, her power is hard to explain, but it'll be easier to explain once you fight us."

Wait for the fight? Jamal wasn't ready for a fight, he just got here, and wasn't he going to be healed, until he felt a slap on the back. One of the female adults was behind him with her hand on his back. He instantly felt better with it on.

"There, you're one hundred percent healed up. And we're their trainers, but once Boom returns you can call us the Supernaturals. But you got to fight them first and prove yourself before we explain what's happening." she calmly mentioned to him.

But seriously, he was about going to question their terrible nicknames, until the younger people started to rush at him as soon as she finished speaking.
