Rick awoke clutching a leather bound book to his chest and to a loud beeping noise that wormed it's ways into his ears.
Rick opened his eyes to find himself in an unknown and strange place. He was in dirty rags, his body caked in mud, and his hair knotted and matted. He lay asleep in the small alleyway that seemed to be adjacent to an incredibly busy street. The ground was a strange cobbled together stone that looked and felt freezing to the touch.
The surrounding buildings were also strange as they were all mostly made out of wood and timber while some had stone reinforcements and the such. The architecture looked medieval, almost as if it was copied straight out of a fantasy book.
The people walking by him were all dressed in a fanciful way, almost as if they were dressing up for the renaissance festival. In leather and cloth garb and strange fanciful colors that didn't match modern society.
He wasn't home anymore and that was for certain. His attention strained for a second as confusion slowly overtook him. He was, afterall, in a strange new place that just didn't seem to make sense. But a simple beep was enough to take his mind off things.
<....>
Confusion struck through Rick as he felt a million thoughts race through his mind.
'This is my Cheat! I reincarnated. This is my chance to rise above others and make my grandfather pay.'
'But I'm in a new world.... I have to find a way back after I become strong enough. System is it possible to go back?'
'What do you mean!? You just said I could get more information by thinking the word 'status''

'So this is all I get?!'
'It looks like I am royaly screwed.'
Rick began to notice the throbbing pain that was all over his body shortly after the shock wore off. It was almost as if a thousand pins and needles were stabbing into his legs at once. On top of that he felt almost as if he was going to pass out from dehydration and malnutrition. He needed that emergency healing service and quick!
Rick struggled to stand up as he realized his legs had been severely wounded and cut into by unknown weapons.
'I wonder what this body did to earn such hideous bruises.'
'Most likely he was in the same boat as me with my grandfather but in this case it was probably some passerbyers picking on the poor.'
He managed to stand up with great difficulty and began to tredge through the busy streets of the unknown city he was now forced to stay in. People seemed to grimace as he walked pass them. Almost as if his very presence was a burden to society.
Shortly after a few minutes of walking a small bar appeared within his vision showing the mana saturation throughout the surroundings. It currently stated 19%. Only one percent more was needed before he would be able to heal himself.
'But what could get me to that 20% marker?'
It was then that he noticed a nearby stall selling It's wears. It was an alchemy shop. Strange enough he felt familiar enough with it just do to the fact that he had read plenty of fiction in his life.
'Grants Magical Elixirs and Potions. Doesn't seem to be to popular since everyone is avoiding it.' Rick thought to himself as he read the sign above the small wooden stall. Many potions lined the stall and a few even resembled the blue mana potions in video games and books.
'Perhaps it was a good first target to steal from.'
With nothing better to bet on he approached the stall nervously. A Young man greeted him with a smirk on his face.
"Welcome to Grants Elixirs and Potions. Is there anything your looking for young sir?" He said in a mocking tone.
"Mana potions." Rick said calmly and collectively.
"Well I have plenty" The man motioned towards the blue potions. "But the real question is... do you have the coin?"
"..."
"Each potion costs 50 gold. If you would like to purchase one I would love to make a deal."
Rick felt his body react to the mans words quicker than he had ever thought he could. His right hand made a mad dash as it grabbed two mana potions in one instant and his legs reacted just as quick as he was making a mad sprint away from the stall. But before he could react he heard strange archaic mumblings from the man behind him.
"Electrine"
"Rolve"
He felt a powerful sense of dread overcome him as his muscles spasmed as a large barrage of electricity shoved his body further into the crowd. He managed to successfully dodge the attack though so as the full brunt of the attack hadn't landed on him.
It wasn't enough to kill him but he felt his body giving up on him. If he had to guess, if he hadn't managed to dodge in time he would be dead right now.
'Damnit all to hell, why is my first encounter with stealing have to be against a mage?!' Rick thought as he remembered the epic tales of powerful mages from stories in his previous world.
He continued his mad dash through the crowd that seemed to be trying to grab out and reach him. The thought quickly became a reality as he found himself running in midair only to be quickly turned around and faced with a large bulky man with a long leather jacket on as well as grey trousers.
"What does a pip-squeak like you have to do with two mana potions now... Huh?" He said in a voice that sounded like gravel.
'I've been caught by someone who out classes me in magic and physical abilities. I'm screwed.'
"I need it... to heal myself."
"And you you choose a mana potion and not a health tincture? How daft." The man said in the gravely tone.
"You wouldn't have to be one of those fancy healers now would you?" The man said almost as if inciting something.
"Yes I am a healer. A very powerful one at that as well."
The mage seemed to smell something was off as he began to speak "You are just a peasant trying to make a quick buck."
"No, I promise. I can heal myself." Rick said in a panicked tone.
"Then do it. Uncork the bottle and drink it. But if your wrong I'll have you killed and if your right you can take the other one. I promise on my word as a mage."
The warrior looking man seemed to be at a loss of words as he looked deep and long into Ricks eyes almost as if lost in thought.
But without a second thought Rick uncorked the bottle and tipped it into his mouth. A sickly sweet bitter taste entered his mouth as he felt a surge of energy enter his body.
'Great now I have to stall for a minute.'
