Chapter 14 - Chapter 3: Chains, Change

GASP!!!!

My body lifted upwards as I catch my breath.

Feels like something choked me in my sleep.

"That again!"

I kept on panting as my hand squeezed on the bedsheet.

My brain can't give me any rest.

Damn! Why does it have to be a nightmare?

If I want to dream of something, at least it should be about me drowning in money...

My feet shift to the right to get off the bed. My eyes strayed to the faced-down frame. In my side table. Before I knew it I'm glaring at the image.

Are you enjoying yourself watching your son like this?

I stayed my attention to it hoping for a response but I eventually turn away.

I stretched my body.

Another page of my life to waste. Men, if only I know that my life was gonna be like this, I should've followed you instantly.

I jumped out of the bed. I headed first to my computer. It screen shines then opened the game.

There's Lumina waving hello with a smile on her face.

"Yow Lumina-chan, what kind of adventure are we set to today?"

The time's still 7: 21, so the time for my sleep was just four hours. Well, at least I get to sleep.

I want to start playing immediately but my throat's kinda dry.

I walked to the door into the kitchen. But when I reached the kitchen Finn was there cooking breakfast.

My hand quickly rubbed my eyes. Looks like I'm not completely sober yet.

He's still there, quietly staring at me.

My hand grabbed to the sides of the refrigerator then I slammed my head to it.

Aww!

"What are you doing?" Finn asked.

My hand covered my mouth.

"Sorry, Finn. I don't think I can spend any money to pay the hospital bill of some trash like you."

He scooped then tossed a boiling hot oil towards me.

Of course, I'm fast enough to use my hand as a cover. It wasn't enough as a defense though. Why did I even think of using my hand?

"Aww! What do you think you're doing!"

He lifted the spatula and tossed the egg in the air like an expert chef in a tv cooking show.

"Cooking, isn't it obvious?"

You don't normally toss an oil while cooking you know.

"So why are you cooking are you going to die? Was it for your last meal?"

I pointed to the egg while still holding the burned area.

"It's the first day of school today wasn't it?"

"Oh! Are you going to apply to an elementary school?"

Finn pointed the spatula to me.

"Don't just assume that I'm still on that level?"

Can you blame me though?

I grabbed a bottled water and stare at him with narrowed eyes.

"So what's up?"

Finn gets back to cooking.

"You are the one who should go to school. Hera told me last night that you can go back to school. She also gave that letter to me."

I grabbed the letter on the table that Finn is pointing.

'Good luck on your first day of school!' The message says. I scrunched it and put it back on the table. I picked up the bottle then go back to my room.

"She said that she'll cover all your expenses. So you don't—"

I slammed the door then turn back to my PC.

"Okay Lumina, let's start our adventure, shall we."

I clicked on the daily quest.

A monster quest huh? Complete the quest to avail of the next event.

I don't have anything to do right now so I'll certainly do.

The price if you win that event was a new weapon of your choice. I'd like to see Lumina wielding a giant hammer, I'm sure she'll be cute.

"Anzai! Open up!"

The loud knocks reverberated from the door along with his annoying voice.

I kept on clicking on the hotkeys as I move the mouse to change the field of vision.

A large mouse appeared.

"I am Lumina, I shall defeat you with one powerful blast!"

The power surges inside the monitor as Lumina dances with her wand and sword.

I stand up and clenched my fist.

"Magical Splash!"

I shouted together with her.

The monitor shines as the skill takes its effect. That was her ultimate one-shot skill. My thumb wiped my nose then I sat down.

When the light vanished there was a notice on the computer.

'The character died.'

I turn my head up with my mouth open.

I forgot that she'll also die if she uses that skill and gets caught in it.

"Hoy! Anzai Get the hell out or I'll call Hera."

I snorted.

Like you can scare me with that. I don't care if she'll drag me out of my room or whatever… horrible things she'll do.

TOT. TOT…. TOT. TOT.

I rushed to the door after hearing the phone dial being pressed.

After opening the door Finn was there with his phone in his right hand and his other hand was on his back holding a bucket.

I jumped to grab the phone but Finn dashed inside as soon as I did.

He put away the phone then put down the bucket. He headed to the socket and pulled the wire shutting it out.

"You! What do you think you're doing to my religion?"

He rolled the blanket and throw it to the bed.

Haven't you studied Home EC?!

"What are you trying to accomplish here?"

"I'm here to make sure of your well-being." Finn bowed his body. "Young Master."

The last time he call me that was when he broke my computer after upsetting himself in the game his playing.

"Go on, eat your breakfast so you won't be late to school."

"What do you mean school? I haven't enrolled this—"

"I enrolled you, young master. I apologize for not getting your permission first."

"Who the hell told you to?"

I plugged back the computer.

"Listen, Finn, just like I told you. My issues were much more complicated than you think it's not something that can be fixed in just a year of hiding."

In the first place, there's no need for me to take school. My knowledge about managing a business was quite enough already if I will take up that career. I bet that I can match those who finished the course itself.

"Come on, that's not something you'll be worried about. You deal with some infamous thieves and even authorities last night smoothly. I'm sure taking some brats would be a piece of cake to you."

"FYI, my problem doesn't end to the school grounds but outside of it as well. To the whole region hates me or the whole country itself even. So sorry but I'll decline your offer."

I get back to playing on the computer.

Finn stands up. He picked up the bucket.

"Anzai."

I looked back at him. Finn lifted the bucket to his waste then splashed the water at me.

The morning river cold water soaked my body. The water puddled to the floor as it dripped from my body.

"What do you think you're doing?!"

"YOU IDIOT!"

Huh? I should be the one raging here?

"The Anzai I know doesn't care about what anyone says! He only follows what he believed in! Why do you have to care if they hate you or not! The only thing you needed to do is to do what do you think is right for yourself! Trample them! Step on them! Kill— Kick them! If they get on your way! You hear me you degenerate!"

The heck! What's with him? And who are you calling degenerate! That's taking it too far!

"Ahem! Ahem! I got carried away!"

Fin breathed in and walked towards the door.

"Anyways decide for your own good. I'm going to serve the breakfast so clean that up."

He closed the door.

Butler was supposed to make his master's life easier right?

I stripped down my wet clothes and shorts and then use them to wipe the wet floor with my leg.

A long long time ago… well not really. I think it was just ten months ago. I'm on a brink of losing myself for good when an idiot barged in my door.

I'm used to living in a spacious place since I've been living in a mansion, but this place was big enough for me at that time. I knew at a first glance that he'll be annoying. Even so, I let him stay.

If only I didn't let him in I won't be in this situation.

I won't be mopping the floor right now.

I sighed.

Well, I guess I should go back to school. It will be a problem if Ms. Hera comes here to take me by force.

I looked back to Lumina whose still waving at me.

"Sorry Lumina, I'm afraid we're gonna have to halt our adventure for the day." I turned off the monitor and headed out of the room.
