School's finally over and I'm on my way back to my apartment.
Well, it's not a good start for me. Aside from the students glaring at me Luna has been following and staring daggers at me all day.
No matter where I go. While eating in the canteen, walking in the hallway, I can also hear her violent scribbling in her paper. I even needed to shake her off on my way back to my house.
She technically spends a lot of time with me. This is bad for me, because of this suspicious person that I shouldn't trust. Became cuter and cuter the more I see her.
The way she cutely glared at me burned into my memory. Since when did I turn back into being such a simp.
Even though she's cute, she's still a person I should be wary of. She kept her eyes on me all day just because I asked that question. Was that really so bad?
Well, there's someone I could probably get an answer to that.
When I arrive Finn wasn't home yet. But when I entered the living room I found a note on the table.
The note came from Finn. It says that he will go to the market to buy food for dinner. It also said that the bombs were already sold and he already delivered it. I wasn't expecting him to pull it off so soon. Perhaps that's the reason why he went shopping late.
While I was happy about him selling the bombs. I couldn't just ignore what I heard earlier today. So I went to Finn's room to find some information.
When he applied to be my butler, he said he doesn't have any family so he has nowhere to go. He didn't bring any kind of application form so I have no idea if he really is telling the truth.
I didn't even know why I hire him.
Upon entering his room I was surprised after seeing it. Besides his clothes, there's basically nothing inside his room.
This is the first time I enter his room. I expected it to be a messy, uncivilized room but it wasn't.
But seeing his room won't satisfy my curiosity.
I went looking inside his mallet, under the bed and pillow and anything else where he can hide something but I find nothing. This man doesn't have any personal belongings at all.
This concerns me cause he can always flee whenever he wants with these few things of him.
After a short while, a voice called out my name from the door.
"Anzai?! Are you already there?!" Finn shouts.
I didn't lock the door so he instantly think that I was already home.
I exited his room before he gets to the living room. Then I entered my room and change clothes. I didn't find anything but my suspicion of him didn't go down one bit.
"I'm just gonna wash the meat. If you don't want my cooking then you should be the one to cook it."
Some butler you are. Order your master to cook on his own.
Well, I rather cook than eat his food.
"Alright! I'm gonna cook it after I change." I answered.
After I finish changing clothes I headed to the kitchen to start cooking.
Finn get out of his room with a towel on his shoulder and headed to the bathroom.
"I'll just take a bath. Make sure to cook it properly."
Wait, I thought I am the master here.
"Okay, we'll talk about the stuff I ordered you after you take a bath."
"Alright." He said then enter the bath.
I can't find the right time to confront him.
I decided to set aside all my thoughts and focus on cooking.
A while later Finn gets out of the bath but he goes straight to his room. He said that he will just put on some clothes before I asked him.
Then after he finished putting on some clothes he get out of his room.
So I decided to say the first word first.
"I read the letter you leave, so-"
"I know! I know! A job well done right! I totally surprised you right! You didn't expect me to be able to successfully get these jobs done right! Well I know this isn't big deal but feel free to praise me." Before I could finish talking he enthusiastically brag about what he's done.
Well, sure it's not a hard job since I'm offering a big discount. But it's still an accomplishment to him. I wanted to praise him a little but there's still something not right.
So instead I continue what was I about to say.
"Where's the money?" I asked.
Finn scratches his head.
"About that, they said that they will pay it in installment cause they don't have any money yet."
"Huh?!"
I know I'm expecting something bad will happen but...
Maybe it's because I already have assumptions about why it leads to installment.
"Don't tell me you told them that I'm gonna stop making bombs."
"Yeah, first they were happy to buy it But after I told them that this is the last time you're gonna make bombs they said that they don't have the money yet."
Idiot!
Why did I even expect him to do his job well.
The adobo that I was cooking was already done and ready to be served. So I decided to just eat dinner and forgot what I hear.
...….
Finn and I started eating. Even I'm still mad at what he did. We moved on to another subject, about selling the equipment
"About that, sorry I couldn't find a buyer for all those equipment." He said apologetically.
"It's okay. It's not like I'm expecting anything from you."
"Hey!"
Finn blurted out after what I said. Then he started eating again but now his face become serious.
"Actually there's a lot of awful things happening around this area. Some dead bodies have been appearing all over the town. Some say that they're just like the corpses of the people who got eaten by the mist monsters ten years ago. So don't you think you shouldn't build that business yet?"
Corpses huh? They have been appearing a lot this time around.
There have been reports of this incident in the past years. But most of it wasn't from this area. Mostly from the other islands in the region.
If words spread it might cause a big problem not just in this region but for the country as well. And of course for my business too.
"So, what it has to do with me?" I ask.
I asked this because I'm wondering if he's worried about the same thing as me.
"Um- well... You know a shady businessman that just pop out of nowhere. Might be the one to blame. I taught that it might be bad for you. You know because of your appearance and attitude they might suspect you of those crimes."
"Seriously? Do I look like a criminal to you?"
I taught he just thinking of an excuse that's why he hesitated. But I think he just couldn't bring himself to say it.
Well, I can't say I didn't agree considering the way how human thinks.
I guess he could come up with a good idea sometimes.
"Did the number of corpses really that high?"
"Yeah. They say that the number of corpses found in news reports wasn't actually right. The government just wants to cover up the truth so it won't cause panic over the citizens."
Yeah, that's what most likely the government will do to avoid other countries from prying on this issue.
"So what do you think about this? Do you think what happened seven years ago was going to happen again?" I asked.
Finn got serious again but now he seems like he really is thinking.
"I don't know. Though those rumors seem to be plausible. If those numbers of corpses were real, there has to be someone who would see those mist creatures, right. But so far there are no witnesses who actually saw them. So it's hard to tell."
This is bad. Those were actually my thoughts about this matter.
He screw up the last job I ordered him. And my impression of him was some kind of person that all of the nutrients go to his face and not on his brain.
But based on his answer to my question. This guy was actually sharp.
Was he just playing like an idiot all this time?
.....
"Hey, Finn. I don't know why but I really trust you a lot. I hope you didn't do anything to lose it." I said it without hesitation.
Even those negative thoughts were all over my head. I decided not to ask him something that would make a rift between us.
Instead, I followed my instinct.
I've got a feeling that this guy gonna help me in the future. So I don't want to doubt him anymore.
Finn was surprised by what I said.
"What's that all about?" He can't help but fell silent anymore so he suddenly asked.
I can't say anything to him about his mysterious character or the new transfer student.
That is until I know how's Luna related to him and why she's denying it.
"Just one of the lines of the anime that I watched last night." I smiled at him.
"Y-Yeah... Well, don't worry. My loyalty is yours alone. Young Master Anzai." He hesitantly said first. Then again tease me by how a servant addresses his young noble master.
"This 'master' thing is really annoying but... I guess I'll take your word then."
Finn laughed loudly upon hearing what I said.
"What the heck... was that?! Kukukuku!...."
"Shut up!"
I slam my hand on the table to stop him.
But even I can't take another spoon of my rice. I just can't get used to this kind of cliché so I also laughed to my heart's content.
I wonder if the other Alinac was the same as Finn.
