Chapter 3 - The First Step of Many

[Now that I am back in the cavern, I'll try gathering astra]

Sargon began to feel the astra by instinct and found that it was very easy for him. Decided it was likely a racial trait. As he kept gathering astral, he felt his consciousness retreating into himself. He let it happen. He found himself standing atop an endless ocean of clear still water. A twilight sky above him and a single star right above the horizon of the ocean. He felt that the star gave familiar energy and realized that it was astra forming the star. He had a thought that maybe he could make more stars with the astra he was gathering. As he tried this out, he succeeded in adding another star to the horizon. He could feel his power increase with the addition of the star. He continued adding stars for a while after this.

Sargon stopped when his vast mental fortitude was exhausted and couldn't concentrate on making more stars. Each star got a little harder to form from the last, but he filled the horizon and half the sky with stars. When he came back to reality, he was happy.

"With this amount of astra flowing through my being, I could easily jump out of this cavern. First, I must tend to my dented armor. I ordered it to form fit and is of the best quality. Perhaps I could use my astra to fix it or something. I remember those hack wizards who claimed to be able to enchant armor on Earth. Perhaps I can actually do something similar."

Sargon pouring his astra in his gothic plate armor and began trying to feel if he could do anything to it. As he did this, he felt a connection forming between the armor and himself. He pouring even astra into it. Bombarded the armor on the same level his body was. Then he opened his eyes and saw the metallic silver armor lightly glow in shades of light reminiscent of the aurora borealis he saw in northern Norway, but with more blue. Once the glow subsided, he inspected his armor.

"Amazing, all the dents are gone. The armor is completely clean. It feels lighter than cloth clothing and I know it is stronger than before because of the connection. My armor seems to have become a true second skin. Perhaps since it is connected to my...what should I call it? Ah, I'll simply call it my astral horizon. It is connected to that, so maybe it can retreat inside my body like my consciousness."

Sargon tried this and was delighted when it worked. He could equip and de-equip his armor at will in an instant. He did the same with his sword and kite shield. Re-equipped his armor and went to the cavern hole to jump out.

"Time to leave this fine cavern behind"

Sargon jumped out easily in full gear and picked a direction and walked straight. Observing his surroundings as he walked through a forest. The terrain was different, but it was still a forest. After walking he came across a bear adorned with a set of rhinoceros horns. The bear immediately attacked sight and Sargon took his fighting stance.

Dodging the initial charge he slashed the bear's side easily once he sidestepped. To him, the bear that would a dangerous opponent on Earth was a little slow in his eyes. The hide too easy to cut. The bear turned and gave him a couple of paw swipes. Sargon could feel the power behind each swipe as he blocked with his shield. His own power blocking them with little difficulty made him smile at his new strength. With two precise slashes, he maimed the bears two from legs. He stepped forward diagonally to his right. Pushing the shield against the bear's cheek, he thrust his sword into the bear's neck, twisted and pulled it free. The bear staggered and fell quickly after.

"Ha, this bear was much different from those of Earth. Stronger and faster, but I outdo it in both respects. It was a decent fight to test my power though. I thank you for the combat mighty bear, rest well. "

Sargon continued walking and came upon a dirt road. He smirked and decided to follow it until some civilization was reached.
