The duo awoke soon after the sun banished the night. Sargon had a proud smile on his face when he saw Pharis sleeping in her bed. He had dreamed of getting a worthy squire he could make into a proud knight such as himself. He never expected it would be a little girl like Pharis that would be the worthy one. He was certainly not complaining though. He felt it in his gut, that they will become legendary. He shook her gently to wake her up, "Wake up Pharis, time to you get you equipped."
She opened her eyes slowly at first, before they went wide open, "Yes Master, I am awake now."
They had breakfast served by the inn before heading out to the market area. He only wore his regular clothing instead of his armor so he wouldn't draw attention. Sargon was looking for a suitable shop to acquire clothes that are easy to move in and can be under some leather armor. Getting Pharis proper boots is a must as well. He stopped in front of a shop called "Hurold's Arms and Armor". A look through the window impressed that it may have what he was looking for.
They went inside and saw that the shop indeed carried practical clothing, boots, leathers, and all the basic weapons. Sargon called for a shopkeeper, "Hello, is anyone around to assist us?"
A short stocky man with a magnificent beard stepped out from the back. He says, " How can I help you two today? I'm Hurold."
"Pleasure to meet you Hurold. I need a set of clothing for this girl, no dresses, shirts and pants only. I need a set of leathers for her too that can go on the clothing set. with boots and gloves A sword for her size, a knife, a dagger, and a short recurve bow with arrows.", Sargon listed these items to Hurold.
"I can certainly get all those items in a jiff. I supply to people of various sizes often, so I have everything you need for the little miss in stock. Just give me a few minutes to collect everything." Hurold then went to the back to get all the items. He came back out a few minutes later with everything and put it into a cheap cloth bag. He turned to them, "The total will be 60 silvers for everything."
Sargon gave the 60 silvers and took the items. They went back to the inn so Pharis can try her new stuff.
"Pharis, go inside our room and change into your new clothes and boots. Come out when you are done."
"Okay Master, I'll be right out."
Pharis went inside excitedly. She came out after 3 minutes, "How do I look Master?"
"You look appropriate. Now we can begin the first part of your training. It is barely 7:30 a.m., we will leave the city and return for lunch. First, I'll put the leather armor on your first. Pay attention to how I put it on you so you can do it yourself.". He put on the leather armor that consisted of a vest, greaves, vambraces, and tasset. Afterward, they head to the city gate. It only took 15 minutes to walk out.
"Pharis, I have inhuman speed. It will be quicker to reach a good clearing if I carry you, so come over here and try to keep your stomach.", Sargon beckoned Pharis and effortlessly lifted her in his arms. He then took off at a high speed away from the city.
"Woah, waaaahhh, aaaaahhhhhhh....", Pharis still screamed a little with how fast they were going. Sargon giggles a little bit from that. It only took a minute to get to a suitable clearing.
He let her down, "Okay Pharis, I will now teach you basic swordsmanship and then archery."
Pharis took a moment to recover before replying, "Yes Master, I'm ready!". She was eager to learn. this was good for her and him.
"Good, then we will start with, slashes and thrusts. I will make sure you keep a proper stance on every swing. Then we will do basic blocks. We will focus on technique rather than power. Your body has just begun to get healthier, we don't want to harm it. We begin now."
She readied her short sword and started taking instruction from her master. He would kick her feet, push her back, and arms into place after every swing and thrust. It went on like this for about 3 hours. He did less and less, but not by too much. He was pleased with the progress though. She did have a good head, so she made steady progress and her foundation is becoming strong. He moved her on to archery after those three hours. She seemed to have more talent for archery than the sword. She enjoyed it a lot too. He wouldn't be surprised if she became a master archer. Her improvement speed in archery was much greater than the sword. It was about 1 p.m. now and Sargon decided it was time to head back to the city for lunch now. Seeing that Pharis was sweaty and dirty all over, Sargon decided to try something.
"Let me see if I can use my astra to clean her up and refresh her.". He guided his astra carefully to get rid of the sweat and dirt. Then guided it to replenish her body by making a small link with her astral body temporarily. He go the effects he wanted. Pharis was refreshed by the energy from her astral body and cleaned up by his astra.
"Thank you Master, I promise not to scream this time on the way back."
Pharis kept her promise and didn't scream on the way back. They re-entered the city without having to pay when Pharis was introduced as his squire. He stopped on the way back to the inn to get lunch from a grill restaurant. They had a nutritious meal with meat and vegetables.
They made it back to the inn at a purposeful pace. Sargon wanted to begin the other aspect of her training immediately.
