Chapter 12 - Addressing priorities

Kiras point of view after waking up

####

waking back up, Kira found herself in the same room she remembered from the shared memories, nothing really stood out, it was a plain room but a thing that immediately hit her was a smell, a sweet fragrance coming from the other side of the door, it really could be best described as vanilla and berries, but instinctively she knew it wasn't food, deciding to focus on it for a while could she point out other smells as well, nothing as potent as outside the door but faint scents left behind, furthermore it was surprisingly easy to categorise them as unique and memorise them.

After thinking about it an absolutely horrifying thought hit Kira as she theorised that if she can tell individual people and things apart by smell, this easily how potent would it be to visit the restroom, and in that moment she urgently desired to find for a way to turn off her newly found keen smelling sense.

Shinos perspective

Shino had left Yin behind to ensure nobody disturbed Kira but had felt quite frustrated with the situation, she was by all means way stronger and more experienced, when it came to Kiras protection she was by leagues more competent as she, was currently seated as one of the more powerful individuals in this realm, and it was HER Inari had entrusted with Kira, so why!?

Jealousy is never a nice thing but after feeling Kiras spiritual pressure earlier she had never felt a bigger desire to submit to someone else, she had even been willing to give up her post as head shrine protector for Inari, the big difference was Kira was right here in front of her someone she could serve actively instead of being relegated far away, and unlike Inari who already had plenty of followers did her daughter yet have to take anyone officially in.

She had originally doubted Kira, she had seen the timid expression and confusion and had never realised who she was before she initially touched her, Inari coming flying like an angry momma bear had also quite surprised her as she had never seen Inari act towards anyone like that, She was a goddess and far above them those who earned it would be rewarded but people were expected to earn the rights and even those who had earned a place closest to Inari would unlikely be able to trigger such a reaction... ever.

Shino had lead Kira to her cabin to stay with Yin and figured as Inari said she had a desire for her own reasons to keep Kira hidden and to not draw attention to herself, if that was the case it would explain how she had managed to suppress her spiritual aura to such a masterful degree for a young Cub, it was much easier Shino to believe than she hadn't detected Inaris kin standing literally right in front of her before touching her, it was still something she considered a deep embarrassment and in return deflecting it to be due to Kiras skill made it easier for her to mentally accept.

It most definitely wasn't because she wasn't capable, she had felt the flare of her aura pretty much cover the entire shrine area in a heartbeat during before being asked to be taken to a secluded space, everything in Shino had been telling her to submit there wasn't a single doubt in her bones, doesn't matter how young the Cub was or how much experience she held, there had been absolutely zero doubt about who stood atop the hirachy, but still why did Yin get picked as a priority above her, she was but a Cub, there is no doubt Yin was a prodigy amongst her peers and maybe given a few 100 or maybe 1000 years she would be able to tip her off her place, but that was far off in the future was Kira seeing something she wasn't, did Kira maybe find her lacking?

while sitting in her office dealing with her frustration and self doubt she felt the same powerful spiritual presence spike, but it also vanished again just as quickly as it had appeared had she not had extremely keen senses and was capable of recognising the energy would she most definitely have doubted if it was there in the first place, since unlike before there wasn't even the faintest trace at the location the spike came from normally would there still be some lingering presence to let you know someone was there, but she figured Kira had likely not done this without a reason so she decided to head over.

back to Kiras perspective.

So that's how that is controlled, her memory provided had immensely helped her with being able to recognise the feeling of controlling her energies, it felt very much like flexing a muscle, it was rather hard to explain as there wasn't quite a thing like it she had ever experienced or could put into words, but having to describe it Kira decided the best comparison would be to sonar radar technology, you spread a wave of energy out and you can actually feel every individual within the range, the more mystifying thing is she could also feel if the beings hit submitted or resisted, regardless of those who submitted were aware of it or not, the bigger surprise was she could actually feel roughly how much of a threat that each being in her field were ane even the one with the biggest energy also submitted, it was a rather odd sensation because she knew the individual in question would never be able to resist submitting but she at the same time could likely swat her as easy as a fly if she so desired.

Kira had gained the desired effect she was now able to properly control this new ability and what she assumed and hoped was Shino was heading towards her direction, if it wasn't would she just have made a rather big mistake that was going to be guaranteed to get her scolded by Inari.

The time had however come to try to put some of the puzzle pieces in the right places and establish her desires, she had made the mistake of assuming their culture to be similar to that of which she grew up with, but was quickly realising that nothing could be further from the truth although civil and intelligent were they going on a much stricter sense of hirachy based on power, and remembering Shinos expression from her memory would things likely turn sour if she didn't at the very least try to clear out some of the assumptions that was being made.
