Chapter 4 - The Dealership

Now all the grocery stores were on the other side of town and Damian didn't know how he was going to get there without being killed. When he was scavenging for stuff the other day. He thought he saw a car dealership nearby. If he could find a motor vehicle that was in decent shape that would make things a lot easier. If life was easy it would be boring, it would be worth a shot. Now in a situation like this you would probably be safe to assume that the car dealership would be destroyed and whatever was on the lot would be up in flames. That is what Damian was going to find out for himself. He walked about a mile to the dealership. When he got down to the dealership it did look rundown and there were a few trucks on the lot. The garage on the dealership was bad looking. The windows had been busted out, the door was missing and it looked like someone drove a heavy truck through the garage bay. Someone probably stole an SUV which wasn't a bad idea though. He didn't condone stealing things, but he was in dire straits and had to do what he must to survive.

Now he was thinking of a truck with a big bed in the back. Not for sleeping, oh no, It would be for the stuff he would be getting soon and maybe a machine gun in the back. You know, like in those mad max movies. He laughed, he never thought he would be in this position. Trying to survive in a zombie apocalypse. Was it an apocalypse? He didn't really think so. If this was a Hollywood movie this would be considered an apocalypse. He knew there had to be other people in this town and he just hasn't seen them. That didn't mean that they didn't exist though. He took the same stance on the supernatural as well. Just because he couldn't see them it didn't mean they were not there. He walked over to a giant black Nissan truck and he ran his fingers over the outside of it. The body felt nice and it looked like it had a few scratches and dings on it. The thing had probably be involved in fighting or someone had hit it when they were escaping the dealership with their own vehicle.

Damian patted the truck's door. "You'll do nicely." He grabbed the door handle and it he expected it to be locked, it wasn't. He simply pulled up on it and then the door opened and he jumped back. A corpse had fell out of the truck and he wasn't sure if it was human or not and it looked like the corpse was burned a bit. He didn't care and paid no mind to it and Damian jumped into the truck. It was weird, there was no burn marks in the truck. Could that corpse just been placed there? He also noticed the keys were in the ignition. He closed the door and started the truck up. Damian grinned. "Now we are getting somewhere." He turned the keys and the truck roared to life.

Amelia was sitting on the bottom step of a fire escape. She never thought of climbing it up to the rooftop. Her stomach growled and she pulled out a can of canned pasta and a plastic spoon. She pulled the top off of the can and began to eat the canned pasta. She would hear a sound and her head would jerk in the direction of the sound. She was just being paranoid because of what had happened earlier. She sucked down the can of pasta. She had not really had anything this filling in a few days and that was kind of sad. She also needed to find a better way to get around. She had seen some freaky creatures on the ground and he wanted to stay away from them. It wasn't like her pipe was going to do much against these things. She needed something more powerful and she knew the sporting goods stores were going to be picked all over. She just needed to find a way to stay away from these creatures. She threw the empty can on the ground and it rolled away. She felt a gust of wind go right through her. It was weird, because there wasn't any windy weather there today. Chicago was known as the windy city though, maybe it was the spirit of the city. She laughed at herself and shook her head. She was being crazy and she sighed. It was time to venture out and try to find herself some sort of transport to get around in the city. She stood up and grabbed her bag full of goodies.

She did feel like she was being watched and that is when she had seen them. The creatures, they looked like zombies and they were coming towards her. She had no way of defending herself. She looked at the fire escape and decided to climb it as fast as she could. She got halfway up the fire escape and that is when the creatures decided to stand at the bottom of the fire escape and one roared at her. It looked like they were dripping with ooze and it looked like they couldn't climb things. That was good, but they moved incredibly fast to be a zombie creature. She was going to assume this is what happened to the humans that were in this city. Maybe they decided to be experimented on for money or something and then they got turned into these horrible monsters. She climbed the rest of the fire escape as fast as she could. She finally was on the roof tops and that meant she was safe. She walked to the edge of the roof and looked down and she noticed more of those slime zombies on the ground. She had nowhere to go, she was stuck right now. Just her luck, if she didn't have bad luck she would have no luck at all.
