Chapter 3 - Chemical Zombies

The tallest building in the middle of Chicago had all the lights on, it was the only building that had actual power in it. It's power didn't flicker like the grocery store and the sporting good store. Also this place had a metal guard that covered the whole building. This was only used during the riots and when the owner thought it was going to be attacked by monsters in the city. The person who built the building was an oil tycoon named Big Tex. No one knew his real name, he was a warthog and he owned a bunch of oil in the middle east and he sold it back to america for a huge markup. Big Tex was sitting in his throne room, it was just a giant office and in the middle of the office he was sitting in a big chair and he was smoking a giant cigar.

Big Tex puffed on his cigar. "It's great to be king." He looked at one of the video monitors that he had in front of him. He was making sure that nothing was attacking the building. He did see some shadows on the ground. What could those be? That is when he saw them. They looked like humans, walked like zombies and they looked like they covered in toxic sludge. He didn't know what those could be. He pressed a button and gun turrets came out near the entrance of the building and he pushed another button and the turrets started to fire and they ripped the creatures apart. Big Tex continued to puff on his cigarette as he watched the creatures get ripped apart. He laughed in victory. and then his eyes got wide when he saw what happened next. More of the creatures appeared and this time it was a bigger group.

Big Tex growled. "You gotta be kidding me." Now if those things found a way into the building, he would be screwed. It was only him in the building, he didn't know what these things could do. If they touched him he would probably be turned into one of those things and he wasn't having that today. He pushed another button and turrets began to fire faster. They ripped the creatures apart. The turret reloaded and Big Tex could see that those creatures were just puddles of green ooze right now. He was victorious once again. He knew that this wasn't going to be the last time he saw these things. He was going to call these things what he thought they were : chemical zombies. Maybe they were humans at one point and then they got experimented on and got turned into these chemical zombies. He was glad that he didn't bring his family with him to Chicago. All he had to do was worry about was himself. He had been nicknamed 'The King Of Chicago.' Like a king, he would have to protect his kingdom and this building was his castle.

Now Damian couldn't find the girl who was crying, well, he thought it was a girl. It might of just been someone crying. He didn't know. He could still feel someone or something watching him and that is when he saw them. These creatures just manifested out of nowhere and they looked like toxic avenger zombies or whatever. He pointed his shotgun at one of them and fired. When the bullet made contact with the creature it just vaporized. He then noticed more were appearing. A group of these creatures approached him and he then popped off two more shots with his shotgun and these shotgun shells must be custom made. When the shell hit one of the creatures, lead sprayed out from the shotgun shell and hit the other creatures and they vaporized right in front of his face.

He was frantic right now and he needed to reload his shotgun and he needed a safe place to do it in. It looked like being on the ground wasn't really that safe. It looks like he might have to go back to the roof tops but that was after he got some supplies. He ran to the closest location he could find and that happened to be an old bodega. He kicked the door open and flipped the lights on. The lights didn't come fully on, they only flickered. He threw his backpack on the ground and he opened it up. He grabbed the box of shotgun shells and grabbed two of them and then reloaded his shotgun. After he was done reloading the gun, he threw the box of shotgun shells back into his backpack and he then slung it over his shoulders once again and he started to look around the bodega. It looked like it had been picked clean. Someone got here before he did.

Damian shook his head. "Why am I not surprised? I'm glad there isn't a pandemic. Hey, might be able to find some toilet paper." Yeah, he wasn't going to try and look for toilet paper in the bodega and ironically that is probably the only thing in the store. He laughed. He then saw something up near the ceiling. It looked like a trap door in the ceiling, but there was no way to get up there. If he could find a ladder, he could probably get up there. He wasn't going to worry about that right now. He then looked towards the door that leads out of the bodega and that is where he saw more of those zombies and he sighed and shook his head.

Damian pressed his lips together. "Guess this duck is going to learn how to fly." He backed up a few feet from the door and he ran as fast as he could and then ran towards the zombies and jumped over them. Damian laughed. "By fuckers!" He ran away from the zombies and then the zombies turned and looked at him and followed him.
